being a cross over pad, i wouldnt recommend the a1rm's for pure street use. id lean towards to the hpx.

ive never had any problems with it... what technical reason would you not use a1rms? They work in the same low temperature range as the hpx's

would like to know, as these are good pads for street use imho - way better than the bendix ultimates they replaced

what can ppl recommend me for my r34? just street driving....

in mine I'm running the QFM HPX pads for general street use i think there rated to 550 deg and you don't need hotter on street

Default QFM HPX Brake Pad review.

I've had these pads in for about 2 weeks now. I installed them with a full set of New slotted calipers so It's a completeley new wearing set of brakes.

Couple of notes - when reinstalling the calipers on the guide bolts, lube them with a bit of running in compund or similair. It enables the calipers to slide freely under hydraulic pressure, gives you a better pedal feel during travel. I found this out Afterwards.

These pads seem dustless. If there not there very close. There definitley a performance pad, they need a lil bit of heat to perform at there best. Pedal travel is shorter than you'd expect with the standard spongey (you can continue to push the pedal for no extra braking effect) VT Brake system. Control during stops is very high, and I found it easy to find the 'edge' of engaging ABS and hold the deceleration on that edge during high speed stops. Pedal effort required is - as can be expected from a HP pad - More than normal. There is a definite wooden feel to the system (not just the pad) that was apparrent even when using standard pads. Maybe braided brake lines will remove some of that woodness, or maybe I need a new master cylinder. Pedal feel is great, very progressive. Applying exactly the braking effort you want is easy - if the pads have a little heat in them. At cold there effective, but shift from 'a little greasy' to 'a little grabby' quite quickly.

Distance traveled - 1200KM

Rotors - Slotted GDA

Car - VT Auto sedan 1999 245K KM

Overrall rating 8/10.

Use with confidence. I suspect that standard rotors will be a little greasy feeling with these. Go for slotteds of High quality, or better.

nothing wrong with a1rm for street use at all.

ive had mine in for a year, seen 3 track days, plenty (and i mean PLENTY) of spirited drives through the hills, plus on top of that ive used the 33 as a daily until just recently ive retired it to a project/weekend/track car.

i tend to use gearing a lot more then brakes so im yet to find the limits of the pads, but in cold weather morning starts they seem a little soft however get up to temperature fairly quick. this is not to say they dont work well, they feel like a standard nissan pad when theyre cold and you wont need any more then that in traffic anyways.

on track/hills theyre an excellent pad, have no problem at mallala pulling up to the turn 5 hairpin after the back straight from 200kmh in some 150ish mtrs and ive never had them start really fading, again i use gearing a lot combined with brakes so its not as harsh on the pad..

my setup consists of rbf600 fluid, slotted rotors, qfm a1rm pads and steel braided lines all round.

also if youre serious about track, you gotta remember that suspension setup plays a reasonable part in how the car behaves while accelerating and stopping too.

my 2c.

I am trialing Intima SR pads on the GTR.

They don't squeal

Low dust

Low wear

don't have huge intial bite but are linear and keep the pedal and feel after getting very hot

The disk shows even low wear..

Last pad I used were Green Stuff. These are better

Quite happy for the price

Would like to see how there Type D are also

    • I know people cry at the price of the Getrag 12-14k for a conversion now, but it really is a nice mid point. Not going to get change from 10k on a gearset installed.  $30k++ for sequential.   I know you run the risk of a damaged used one and parts are hard to get but as a street car gearbox its really hard to beat. If you enjoy a more traditional manual, its the choice no question.
