so ive been thinking lately, investment propeties, land and house packages, display homes, the list goes on.

it got me thinking. how would life be without the line and instead having a 3 bedroom home.

can you guys see yourself taking the bus? or taxi everywhere? or driving a kingswood to get millk?

or the dirty civic driver nextdoor always v-tec-ing it down the street and talking himself up and you knowing theres nothing u can do to shut him up anymore.

or would it be all worth it because you get to sit back with a bunch of blondes and brunettes on a saturday nite and watch some cruel intentions and hope life lessons are learnt from movies :P

now i know some of you guys out there are quite the multi talented bunch, having both in this situation. if you had to choose one which would u pick?

house for sure - a car will drop in value regardless, they vary rarely go up

houses usually go up, and not down and are a solid investement

any work / changes you make usually increase the value of the house

you can use the house to borrow money for other investments as collateral too

mind you there is a massive difference between a 30k skyline and buying a typical 3 bedroom house

a house is a long term commitment and you need to make sure you can service the loan

ive just brought a place so ive been through the typical crap and its a long painful journey

you dont have to give up everything just cos "thats how it is" you need to balance and manage it

im not giving up my R33, but it was paid off a long time ago so thats ok

mind you it will keep costing me and more as time goes on, ie: its got 195k on the clock

so its a bit old and tired so you need to factor that in

but im catching public transport as working on collins st and driving to collins st = waste of time and $600 ish easy a month

on the train is so much easier and $100 a month so public transport isnt as bad as you think

there are many many options when buying a place too

you can buy a house to live in, buy a place to rent out

buy a place on interest only loan and hope it goes up in a few years - then sell it - so you never pay it off

i knew i should of mentioned it.

i know houses are the logical choice but my question was just in terms of how all you guys would feel knowing the skyline isnt in the driveway anymore.

knowing that you couldnt build a bit of boost past that extra hektic statesmen waiting at the lights.

i really cant picture it happening with me lol

it all comes down to your own scale and whats important to you

ie your skyline and how it boosts is only useful and important to you - it doesnt hold value to anyone else

you can certainly have both your skyline and a house

you just need to balance it on a normal scale and not go overboard

Chuck an RB26DETT OR if your parents can afford it get a VR38DETT into the above Winnebago. What you have now is not only a home, but also a skyline under all that metal. And to top it off, you can beat that dirty civic driver who v-tecs it all the time, while watching porn and fcuking your blondes and brunettes in your winnebago

For me I could not sacrifice the line for a house, life would just be so much more booring. I can cover up to arround 200ks per day sometimes in extreeme cases with my onsite business and I couldnt bring myself to drive that much in a bunky.

At the same time my line is fully paid off though so I can now save for a house reasonably easy.

if you are that stupid to think that life lessons are learnt from movies, and the money you save from petrol / sale of a more expenisive car can only buy an old kingswood

and

if you are unable to buget properly and unable to buy a more economical car with the money you should have been saving way before making this thread .......

and have sold you car but for some reason are taking taxis and the bus everywhere .....

well there is no hope for you!

you are stupid

and if the only pleasure you can get from life is "building a bit of boost" past another car you have far less brains than i first complained about you not having!

In all seriousness - House would be number 1 priority, however in saying that a good car is more easier to come by, depending on how much you earn, your current location or still live with the folks, I'd say go for the car. I "assume" most the the people here are fairly young and enjoy going out with friends etc, and a good car can complement this. As crazy as it sounds a good car can open doors / network people, as it is a great "ice breaker" and unfortunately some people judge you by your car. (Think about the good times you have had in your car or the great places you have driven to).

    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
    • Well they got my money but they are not getting my gearbox !
    • It's needed for rolling idle up, and I think it is a decider on VCT also.
    • I mean, not really. Link ECU's can absolutely still have errors from the ECU thinking it's getting a sensor it's not expecting. I would imagine the speed at the ECU level in Nistune does absolutely nothing anyway? I assume the ECU does not do any fancy TC stuff with regards to front+rear wheel speed or anything of that like anyway. Someone who uses Nistune may be more fluent in it.
