Ok good stuff guys! I'm considering doing the "Tasmanian Tarmac Challenge" in October if I can get the new car sorted out, Mt Buller if funds/time allow, and really aiming towards Targa Tasmania again next year in April. Rally Tasmania in February is always a great warmup for Targa Tasmania, but I just can't afford to do them all, time or money wise :ermm:

Makes me think actually, I better get on a diet so the poor lil' RB20 can drag me up the hills. Nah, easier to get co-driver whore Timmay to drop down to a sparrow-like 55kg I reckon. :D

Wow thanks for setting me a target now!

Greetings Snowman + friends.

I'm hoping to do Targa rookie next year also, so that probably means no Buller/Lake Mountain this year :D

I did scrutineering school last weekend. If you guys are wanting official help at your events, please PM me...

Cheers,

Scott.

If anyone has questions about tarmac rally eligibility or safety etc I'm the Technical Manager for Targa Tasmania so feel free to ask as its really not that hard to get a car together.

I used to race and rally various Nissan's including 200SX, R32 GTS-t and R32 GT-R... I navigate in an Integra Type R and currently building an RX7 SP so not just another useless administrator... well hopefully not that useless anyway!

What’s the ruling on dry carbon panels and 3mm lexan/plexi glass windows on the doors, rear quarters and rear window?

Depends on the car really...

No good for GTR on either point though. On GTSt the lexan works, but the windows that open need to remain functional and usually scratches like hell.

Any bolt-on panel could be swapped on GTSt for CF, but doors need to remain metal.

CF on the GTR only works if its a Nissan option (eg Nismo or Autech) such as CF bonnet, undertray, wind blade.

Thanks Stuart.

I don't believe so. I am on the hunt for some dry carbon bits though. ie, gtr style bonnet, bootlid/gtr wing/gtr nismo lip spoiler. Also hunting for some gts M-spec side skirts if anyone knows of any of these things?

Now, if I can just get an RB30 hybrid ok'd I reckon I'm in with a shot.................

Dane - The GTR is classed as a faster car under the parity rules so limited in permitted mods.

GTR guards on a GTSt would be cool, but althought the material can be changed (to fibreglass or CF) basic body work must retain the same external shape as standard with the exception of some aero like GTR wings and bumpers etc.

Guard rolling, just the inner lip not flaring? For example, are they going to raise question over a very minor appearance chance’s as one of the cars does look different next to another Gtst..

    • Ahhh, I need the whole head unit. I definitely needed to roll back through and review your setup, ha ha! Neat setup they have going on. I just need a full double din head unit. But I want good and responsive. I might have to review what the likes of pioneer have out these days.
    • Ok so after much research and talking with knowledgeable people I've got my turbo conversion done and it's all running great other than 1 small issue.  Car has remained auto with the na auto and tcm, I've used a stagea ecu with. NIstune board and everything is great other than my gear selection on the dash. It illuminates park, reverse, neutral, 3rd and 2nd. But nothing drive or what gear your in when you pop it into tiptronic.  I'm sure there is may e 1 wire in the ecu plug I need to move to rectify this. Dose anyone here have any ideas?   Cheers guys
    • Sorry I haven't been following all the detail, so you may have tried this. Does it idle with the tiniest bit of throttle you can add? You've mentioned the IACV, does it have an AAC valve and have you adjusted it at all (ie, screw the idle adjust screw all the way in, then back it out a couple of turns until idle is stable)?
    • My bad, I unplugged the one underlined in red instead of yellow before. With the car started, after unplugging the IACV (the one underlined in yellow), it idled at around 400/500 for 3 seconds before stalling. Attempting to start the car without the IACV will not start the car.   It does stutter and sputter for around 5 seconds before dying. However, immediately after starting it, you can already hear some slight sputters from the exhaust.   It won't start with the AFM unplugged. If it is when the car has already started, it stalls in a few seconds.   Yesterday, I did take some logs using Nistune of 3 scenarios. Car idling till it stalls Car idling and unplugging the IACV Car idling and removing the AFM I also have some previous logs of when the Car is idling till it stalls and when driving and it cuts. I am not really knowledgeable enough to understand what to look for. After every test, car idles rougher and rougher, until I have to stop. It will be fine the day after.
    • There is no difference between a 17x8 and an 18x8. The total diameter of the tyre needs to remain +/- the same (so you don't mess up the gearing, speedo reading, and clearance when turning front wheels..... so you just need to use a lower profile tyre on th 18 than you do on the 17. /rocket surgery.
