Yeah it's interesting in that as much as I'm really looking forwards to having a go at the full TT next year I'm still not 100% convinced it will be a "must do" for me going forwards. In many senses I think the event might be too big (long) for my liking.

I really enjoyed TT Rookie, and TWP and can't wait to go back and do that again next year (and hopefully get up to Tahune for lunch this time!) - but I quite enjoyed the short sprint style nature of those events. I'm not sure how much I'm going to endure the enduro mentallity of Targa - not to mention it must hurt 11ty times more should you have issues on Day 1 at Targa like I did at TWP compared to a smaller event.

TT sure don't need extra numbers but if they ever did I reckon they could get a good case to run a mini shorter event within the event at TT (like you can have a 10km fun run in conjunction with a marathon), that basically just covered the 3 Days at the top of Tassie. I know its the roads as you move south that are supposed to be the true high-light of the event, but its as you move south that the logistics get so hard and make the event so much more expensive as a competitor. But I reckon if there was a shorter 2-3 Day event based out of Launceston much like TWP is - I reckon I'd be more likely to put the 2 short events on my "must do" list ahead of TT.

But then that could all change once I actually do the full thing! LOL

Understand what you say, and I think it depends on what you enjoy.

Personally I like the big event because it is such a massive challenge. Not just logistically but car preperation and mentally too.

Whilst short two day events are fun, I find it difficult to get into full competetive mode, and hence tend to treat them as "fun". This is likely why my "face" appears different at Targa, I'm mentally preparing for it a month in advance. That is not to say that I haven't got to the start of day 4 and wished it was over soon, or had thoughts during a touring stage whether I'd come back.

I guess, and I know this sounds full wank, but to me, a two day event is a walk along the beach, Targa Tassie is Everest, if you complete it, regardless of where you finished, it's seriously satisfying.

lol, I knew it, lets see how smart you feel when you on the North Face in a 100 knot blizzard shall we? :D

HAHAHA - I know I'll feel smart enough to be glad I'm in a heavy 4WD car rather than a light RWD $4K shitter that's getting knocked around by the elements!

;)

Well if you can run the Prologue in under 3mins I'll be the 1st there to shake your hand! ;)

Personally I'm expecting to get the "Beat the 2 Pretty Boy's in a stage" thing done at George Town given I nearly did it last year despite trying my very best to end my rally there on a set of those big white tractor tyres down near the water, and then driving like a granny for the rest of the stage (and having Dan tell me to hurry up even. LOL)

Thanks dunc, just emailed the boys to shit stir re Bulldogs and ask about wheels.

I meant I'd gladly sacrifice every other Tarmac rally to do this one, unfortunatley I haven't worked out how to safely smuggle in kilos of cocaine up my butt to pay for all the rallies.

I'm happy to keep my eye in just doing circuit stuff like top gear racing etc, and would love to grab an Nc or Group A for some historic racing, but I like the "team" think about rallying, having Timmy beside me is a highlight for me, and makes it even more fun. ;)

I appreciate your kind words benny, and will reply to your emails asap, been flat chat last few days!

But i do agree, ive done plenty of 1/2 day events and they are really just "fun" the first two days are usually only a build up and figure out what pace you are going to set for the event, and the fact that so many ppl a tthese events turn up with 5 sets of softs so they can blaze it up for a few short stints.

Targa is physically and mentally demanding. the lead up preparation, the final calls, recce and into the event. i think it takes a good relationship to see it through seriously. What other sport/event do you spend 6+ days in close confines with one other person? I know there is a long list of people I would NOT want to have in that situation! but Benny is one of the few i can work through the event with even in those moments of pressure!

    • So stock ECU does not like anything above 10 psi?  That Nistune one is just for "try" if it will be any different, I know it need to be tune for that. I know but YOU may know about these problem but i/we dont. They few little Skylines here let alone people who know anything about tham so that is why iam asking here
    • So now we have a radiator with no attachments whatsoever. It lifts up with a particularly tight spot between the drivers side air box mount and the lower radiator outlet, but if you've got this far you will sort that too. This is the lower mounts with the rad out so you can see where the rubber bushes go, it is a straight shot upwards Done! Assembly is the reverse of disassembly, with blood less likely to be shed.
    • Right, onto the second last trick. The Air Con condenser is mounted to the front of the radiator and stays in the car when the radiator is removed. There are 2x 10mm headed self tappers holding the top of the condenser to the radiator, remove those The bottom of the condenser is attached to the radiator with clips. You need to lift the condenser out of those clips and clear (up, then forward). f**ked if  could work out how to do that last bit with the front bumper on. I hope you can, and you share the trick.  Bumper removal probably deserves its own thread one day once I've recovered the will to live, but basically you need to remove the wheels, front inner guard liners (clips and 10mm headed bolts), the self tapper between the guard and the bumper at the rearmost point of the bumper (same as an R32 that bit), any remaining clips at the top/front of the grill, an absolute bastard design with a plate that holds the top of the bumper above the headlight each side (only 1 bolt which is tricky to get to, but the plate catches 2 places on the bumper and must be removed....carefully!) and push clips between the bumper and guard under the headlight. If you've done all that you will be faced with wiring for the fog lights on both sides and in ADM Q50 RS at least, 4 nasty tight plugs on the driver's side for the ADAS stuff. So, the clips at the bottom look like this on drivers side (looking from the front) And on the passenger side (also from the front), you can see this one is already out Clearance on both of these are super tight; the condenser needs to move up but the upper rad support mount prevents that, and the radiator can't move down far because it is (rubber) mounted. Once you achieve the impossible and drop the condenser off those mounts so it does not stop the rad moving, you are good to go
    • OK, next the shroud needs to come off and there are a couple of tricks. Firstly, there is a loom from near the passenger side headlight to the fans, coolant temp sensor etc and there is no plug to undo.  In my case I was OK to leave the shroud on top of the engine so I just undid the passenger side fan plug and about 10 of the clips which gave enough free wire to put it aside. The fan plugs were super tight, the trick I used was a small falt screwdriver to push down on the release tab, then a larger flat screwdriver to lever the plug out of the fan unit....be careful with how much force you apply! If you need to remove the shroud altogether for some reason you will have to deal with all the plugs (tight) and clips (brittle)....good luck. I removed all of the clips and replaced them with cable ties that I will just cut next time. Also, in the Red Sport / 400R at least, the intake heat exchanger reservoir hose is bolted to the shroud in 2 places with 10mm headed bolts; so remove them (the hose stays in the car; no need to undo it at the t fittings down at the radiator lower mount. Once you've dealt with the HX hose and the wiring loom, there are 3x 10mm headed self tappers holding the top of the shroud to the radiator; remove those.   The shroud then lifts out of the bottom mounts where it sits on the radiator, up and onto the engine out of the way. Simples
    • Ok, disregard my “rate them” comment, sorry for my unrealistic input
