I just put a magic windscreen in my car. Be interested to know details of other places to get them though as my current source (YT) only had the one and I wasn't able to find any other local sources.

In other news I got some THC stage details yesterday. Apparently Barwite looks like fun as its nothing but 9's + 10's for the first 2.5kms! I really need to get out there and have a look at the roads.

I have been told by JA that if you are going to recce Mt Buller tell the base office that this is what you are doing and they might waiver the $35 entry fee.

Magic Screen? Heated?

TT

I'll be interested to see how you like the heater. I asked some people about them when I started my car, and some hate looking through them, and some don't see them. I decided to save monies, and kept the heaterbox in my car for the sake of 4-5kg

Actually that was me. The car wiggled a tiny little bit - mainly through the steering wheel - when we hit some standing water and I wasn't expecting it - but at 200km/hr it gave me a minor heart attack!

In what way Jess?

I'm just hangin' to get back in the seat

Its been so long since I have been in a seat :P Havent been on that side since May :(

Do you find it takes a bit to get into the groove??

Im probably just being paronoid but have always been a bit of a stresser and being in another new seat can be a bit overwhelming at first just getting up to speed with the new driver I guess...

Im probably just being weird like usual LOL

Hahaha, it can be difficult to get in the groove, but I find that recce gets the bugs out and goes a long way to readying towards actual competition.

I suppose it can be daunting being alongside another 'new' driver, but again...as you know...recce helps!

I wish I could spend the time to do recce...I guess its my own fault aswell...But no driver I have sat next to so far as been in the "main game" so to speak and that serious...So I fly in Nav and Fly out again...

I would love to learn to write my own notes and get that much time off but with my motorsport schedule time off is limited from work as I do so many other events...

Ok will stop being a princess and suck it up...

Just would like more frequent events through out the year to stay ontop of the nerves....

Just venting :P its been awhile..LOL I am excited tho love MT Buller area its so lush and adventerous!!!!:P:(

    • I don't know, I've never done it that way, but 1. While it is an interference engine, there is still clearance between the valves and the piston at all points in the regular timing cycle 2. There is not a lot of distance before you can't catch the top of the valve stem any more I don't know if 2 is greater or less than 1. But 3. If it doesn't work out you are f**ked, engine is coming out to disassemble so it is a big bet.
    • Semi slicks are horrible for road use, just use a high performance road tyre unless you really need the maximum grip. Noisy, unpredictable (amazing, until they are not), expensive due to very high wear and not good in cold and particular wet. And yes, it is a thing to store cars on stands instead of tyres if you know they are going to be parked up long term.....but who ever realises that a short park is going to stretch into years before it is out again!
    • I know in Australia you'll definitely get above 30c. Parked in the shade in Summer you'll be above that. 😛 But in cooler climates, you might get that warm driving on the highway for a bit, but you'd never get to full heat temp. I'll try and find some of my historical tyre temps between Aus summer and winter (be aware immin the warmer area of Aus too.)
    • I get that taking off the head is best but that's a bit much for "just" valve seals. I was just under the impression that one would be able to rotate to TDC and be able to temporarily drop the valve without losing it and effectively having to remove the head to then recover it. I never knew people actually pushed rope into the cylinder to do valve seals hahaha So just to confirm, just going to TDC will not work? In that case I know when I do valve seals I'll maybe just remove the head and do some other things while I'm there, or just wait until I do an engine build.
