They are a good handling car (for their weight) Im sure with all the luxo stuff pulled out they wouldnt be all the heavy.

Edit - 1750kg in road going form

and a tasty pic

Another edit - the Group A Jags weighed in at ~1400kg

So similar weight to the Commodores/Mustangs/Falcons/Camaros etc that would run at targa

Yeah Timmy's right. You've been able to put 100m guards on MS cars for years. Not 100% sure if the proper Group C guards on RX-7 are within 100mm, but I understand the Commodore Group C guards are slightly more, so to get the right period look for these cars the rule will be expanded to say something like 100m, or those used in regonised championships are acceptable... this will overcome the issue with some other cars currently doing this anyway.

You can already run the front bumper and wing under the aero rule.

They aren't that bad, here is a clip of my mates IP RX7 at Bathurst

Why the F@#k can't you embed?

the RX7 in front doesn't seem to have any issues with torque... it just frys them off the line!

so many good ideas in the last couple of pages but be honest... you'll all end up in Emos

I've been talking to damo about it for a couple of years. He thinks it's dumb, but I think a XJS (with a lot of work) would make a very compeditive classic. Weight is the big problem though

but seriously..... who wants to be caught in a Jaaaaaaag.........under 50?

let alone modify one.....

look @ ur link - youtu.BE, make sure it's proper link and it works automatically.

youtube been producing odd links lately :(

An XJS ran in 94/95ish era. Most memorable thing, sparks and flames flying out of the wheel spokes at the hairpin at Symonds......after 1 lap. Must have done a fair bit of field and fence work during the afternoon stages - day 4. Don't think it was a good year for British racing green, 2 tonne pussy requiring some overnight heroics at Burnie too, if I'm remembering my years.

There is a bloke locally who has all the tricky bits after being Jag driver of the year worldwide and given boxes of parts, he''d want Gallardo money for them though, if you that attached to oil leaks.

To set the cat among the pigeons, an 037 Lancia looks like it can run classic in SS :rofl2:. One that was out here in the early 80s and failed to find money to run in the ARC, returned a year or two back too.

Maybe it's time I pulled the"Two Ton Pussy" out of retirement and ran it again

I was disappointed you didn't dust it off this year!

I just got the RX-7 back from the bodyworks and had forgotten just how high SP wings were... years ahead of their time in shopping trolley design!... but I reckon the SX-R would give it a run Jeff?!

Not a dry sump no. You can modify the standard sump with traps/gates and/or increase it's volume it to reduce surge

There has previously been a R32 running in the Demo Class (non-competitve) that more than likely did run one.

82. Sump / Oil Filter (except Showroom)

The removable section of the sump maybe modified to increase capacity and internal baffles may be fitted. Sump pickups maybe modified to allow for modified

sump depth. The oil filter element/cartridge/s is free, providing the cartridge fits without modification and does not perform any function other than filtering the oil.

modify the pickup and put gates in the sump and a GT-R will be fine. Our R33 GT-R did 5 Targa's, 2-3 3 day rallys, Eastern Creek 6 hear, and a heap of club day work with no engine problems. When we pulled it out for a check, it had only slightly marked bearing #6

    • I've looked up the parts number (41011AL501). It's around $700 OEM. Usually our Infiniti G35 here in Canada have interchangeable parts with my Stagea but the parts number are not the same. I have looked around and it seems the JDM 2005 V35 Skyline (which is the same as our G35) has the same caliper but I cannot confirm. And I can't find a repair kit. The inner brake pads drags on the rotor, seems to be rusty piston. Thanks for the info by the way
    • This coupled with 6-9 speed autos with ridiculously short gearing is why these modern shitbox cars always seem so fast off the line. If it wasn't for those things, Raptors would not seem fast. The problem we have is there is a driveability gap between a more gentle take off and a wheelspinning sideways launch. The difference between ankle flex required to achieve one and ankle flex required to achieve the other is about 0.5°.
    • Yeah I think I'm also with the opposite here. It's 'hard to keep up with traffic' because in the real world I'm accelerating with 15% throttle and they are pinning it. It feels like I'm being an overt dickhead at anything above 15% throttle, so the car sounds like I'm being an overt dickhead to keep up with/get ahead of traffic when I'm really just trying to drive with traffic. There would be no issue 'keeping up with traffic' if we used the same level of throttle input/aggression to drive around. People really do just drive around with their foot nearly pinned in econoboxes.
    • To be fair it's the other way around. 300kw is boring in a modern Golf or BMW. They are so competent / well-engineered / devoid of emotion that you have to go stupid fast to feel anything. Whereas the <300kw RB still makes all the right noises and it feels good to drive. Can pull off at the lights with the turbo whooshing and the blow-off pssshing and feel like the coolest kid on the block. Just don't look to the side where you'll see the bored housewifes in their shitbox Yaris/Corolla/Camry that kept up because you didn't go fast at all
    • 300kW is so boring in a Skyline, you'll get spanked by someone's mum's Golf with Alibaba pipes, and an email tune.
