And when will our warnings go down or disappear?
Well I can speak for the majority on the reduction of warnings... (as we've spoken about it a number of times now in the Admin area)

As the group sees it currently, they will forever stay once given.

They offer tracking reasons for us as Admin/Mods, and also people often think they can lay low for 6-12months and then come out on the fire again and we've seen that many times over... which if warnings 'expired', would be impossible to record and track for us and give people unlimited lives if you will.

I didnt want to start a new thread about this so ill just post it here. I was given a warning of 30% about a year back I think, and when I click on it there is no note as to why I was warned. I didnt chase it up before because it was only 30% but it is now 60% :ermm:

I dont know who did it either so I cant PM the mod/admin to clarify. I may have deserved it or whatever but I just want to know why I got it so I can try to avoid doing it again.

good read.. i like it..

but just some input..

what about if the warnings can stay but the percentage dropped over time of good behaviour.. that way a banning wont occur unless these users are consant naughty boys and girls.. and if they want to lay low for the time being then it will be a time of peace..

the law follows this in the real world.. you break the rules and lose some points.. after 3 yrs get them back.. although the record stays on file.. i think a yr maybe 18months the warn % should drop even if the reason was to stay on file? then if the same warn is repeated you can just increse the warn to the level you require (assuming you mads can do that as some got 40% warn or 30% warn for one offence) and then can be review on appropriate punishment..

and not that i'm bothered but ppl with power most always use it to their advantage.. not in picking on ppl or shit like that.. just in general.. government is the same way in all countries.. they power hungry and greedy (not pointing to mods on here!) it is, human nature, and with great power comes great responsibility lol

shit happens in life and you gotta get over it.. we can voice the unfair behaviour all we like but in the end how can we have a utopia when everyones views are different.. police dish out punishment which some see as unfair but nothing can be done about it.. same with the mods.. without these mods there will be chaos just like the real world

apart from maybe the duncan/dirtgarage issue (which may be a need for separate corners is in order.. or a fight to sort it out [without warnings or public viewing] to get things off some chests as dirtgarage seems adament in solving the beef between the two)

GO THE MODS POWAH LOL

  • 5 months later...

nice thread digging!

Yes absolutely they could. But there is nothing automatic about the process, its not 5 warnings = auto ban.

The warnings are notes to the admin/mod to show the poster's history. If there had been a series of different issues over many years and the current warning was not major I would expect they would not be banned. Equally plenty of people get banned on their first warning (returning banned members, nike shoes salespeople etc)

Not worried about any one else, just assumed from what has been said previously that the 100% is an automatic ban, the example i gave was to demonstrate how the non expiry rule is flawed, but it is a mute point now.

Yeah I'm not sure why IPB have set it up as a percentage, I've heard similar queries to this a few times over the years. The "%" number just gives mods a quick visual indicator that the given user has been warned before, and if the number is high that person might need a bit of extra attention lol.

As mentioned, don't worry too much about it, the fact it's a percentage is a little confusing but the number itself doesn't really mean anything :)

    • I dunno about that as a blanket statement. Pitwork is Nissan's "Nissan genuine" thing, and for stuff like timing belts, I have found them to be excellent. Of course, for things like oil filters, you always use proper trusted brands anyway, not whatever the OEM has taken to using.
    • Ahhhh... If you were putting 12V to the led in there, that's likely made it very unhappy. Chances are how you put power, was 12V across an LED that's meant to only have about 20mA through it at peak, and a forward voltage of about 1.8 to 2.4 volts. That circuit is likely only a 3V3 circuit, and will have a resistor in series with the led too. That's my guesstimate on that light, without having touched one.
    • Another vote for installing them and see how you go.  I mean, you already own them, why would you not fit them?
    • I have had too many of those over the years, my cars have a toolkit or at minimum a cheapy multi tool thing because its too easy to be snookered by some stupid plastic clip that stops you checking the battery terminal isn't loose.
    • Basically, if there is a part# on the nissan catalogue, it is a genuine part. There is a thing called "new old stock" which is stuff made years ago but never sold (or landfilled), but it is super hit and miss what you can buy. Other than some expensive Nismo stuff there is nothing new being made that suits these cars. The only time to be a little careful is (mostly in the US I think, but maybe Japan too), Nissan started rebranding some cheap crap maintenance parts like oil filters as "Pitworks"; stay away from them, if you are buying cheap just buy whatever the local car parts shop carries The three part numbers have an explanation on Amayama: 0V005 is auto, base style 0V015 is manual 0V505 is auto, hectic momo branded ones, maximum F&F points there!
