Hey Guys,

What do you guys think of this setup? (I'm doing this over the next few months)

HKS F-Con V Pro ECU - Launch control activated

GReddy 6 throttle plenum coverted to single throttle (www.aseturbo.com do this)

Nissan Q45 Throttle Body

Sard 700cc Injectors

Sard FPR

Bosch 040 In- tank for pickup

Bosch 044 with surge tank

Twin Apexi Filter Inake Kit (will be closed off from engine bay heat)

HKS GT-RS Twin Kit

HKS Front pipes (Ceramic coated already by CIC)

HKS Dump pipe (Ceramic coated already by CIC)

Xforce 3" Hi-Flow Cat

3" Jasma stainless steel rear section exhaust

ASE Turbo Front Grill Mount Oil Cooler

Trust/GReddy Oil Filter Relocation Kit

GReddy Profec B Spec II

Tomei Oil Pan Kit

Tomei Oil Restrictors

Brand new O2 Sensors

Note: I already have the ECU so Xspeed will be tuning it. Once done I will post dyno figures in the relevant section.

Any feedback guys? Comments?

Only feedback i have is GT-RS are too big for a stock capacity RB26

-5's would be the better choice.

See Gav's graph for the comparo on a stroker, its out of this world.

Other than that, looks like a good choice of bits n pieces, except that you dont note a built motor on the list :P

Fantastic!

why are you changing to a single throttlebody? is there any benefits over the stock 6?

is your engine standard? no internal work perhaps cams/gears

The HKS is a bit of a pig to work well with the 6 throttle. It can be tuned but usually on full boost F-Con V Pro equipped cars will always run rich on full load/boost. It has been recommended if I want a smooth tune, go with the single throttle (plus I like to be a little different from the norm).

There are advantages with a single to a 6 throttle........But also there are very fast GTR's out there still using stock plenum.

Each to their own I quess.

Motor is stock. So I don't want to push it higher than 360 - 370AWKW. Funds will be avaliable for a forged rebuild when the need arises.

Thanks. I'll check out Gav's graph.

As I stated above, my motor is a stocker.

I might end up going GT-SS or -5s....i don't know just yet.

Looks like you got it sorted mate, nice one! Only critisism I have is with all the money you are throwing at the car why go with an X-Force hiflow cat? they're not all that great and for a few hundred more you could have one that flows twice as good... my 2.2 cents (GST incl.)

haha.

nice to see you are reading the list carefully!!!

Yes you are right. Unfortunatley I already have the cat so I have to use it (Not really worth selling. I only paid $190 for it new). I bought this before I decided to do the above power up mods.

I might look at getting a much better cat towards the end of the year.

2.2 cents!!!! Bargin ....... :P

my advice.

ditch the HKS dumps and use tomei instead. a little more expensive buy miles better.

also, why are you fitting the oil feed restrictor? you do realise I assume that to fit it your head needs to come off. that means new headgasket (and if you are replacing it might as well go metal gasket) and new head bolts too. seems like a lot of effort to fit a $5 part. there would be probably near to $1000 in labour and parts just to do that. and if you have a standard motor, and standard oil pump I wouldn't be reccomending big revs anyway.

same goes with the tomei oil pan. to fit that the engine needs to come out. it wont be too bad I guess though as for some people it's easier to change turbos with the engine out, but they could have been done with the engine in otherwise.

Thanks for your advice.

1. I already have the HKS dumps. They are better than standard and that is good enough for me. I agree Tomei are far better but I didn't pay jap street price for the HKS's so it was worth getting when I did.

2. I forgot to mention that I am installing a Tomei Head Gasket and ARP Bolts. So I am doing the restrictors at the same time.

3. I am not going to bother with the oil pan. Instead I am thinking of getting some cams and gears.

4. I have just bought today a pair of GT-RS's with a HKS bridged manifold. By the end of the year I am stroking and forging the engine to work better with the GT-RS's. I want still want to retain the "stock" look when the bonnet is lifted. So no high mounts for me. :(

BB, What are your thoughts on what cams and cam gears to use (not brand, specs) to better work with the GT-RS's??

Fire away..I won't get shitty with constructive criticim directed at my parts choices. :D

why the fcon ecu? you are locked into two tuners in the country

if you get shit service or prices are stupid you have no choice

and why ditch mutliple throttle bodies to keep an ecu happy? seems silly to loose functionality and gains to make an ecu happy

The Fcon ECU is arguably one of the best ECU's on the market. Yes it is limited to just two tuners in Aus but if XSpeed was to go bust or prics are crazy then I'll just by a $650 FPC SAU jobbie..... :P

I already have the ECU. So I might as well make use of it. It is not really worth selling.

I don't want to jump on the PFC band wagon (I'm not knocking the PFC, everyone know it does its job well).

With regards to the single throttle, because I stated above that I am using the Fcon, the two tuners in Aus will tell you that having a single throttle setup is better for it in regards to fuel/air map tuning, etc...

It may seem silly to you but there are many ways to get a good reliable result.

Using a Fcon + Single Throttle is one way.. not a silly way. :)
