Used this to try a quick theory i had regarding d-jetro and other rb engines so i fired one up on a R33 first then fiinally fitted it up into this R31.

Std Rb20

Rx7 injectors

Thai plenum

Trust TD06-l2 -20g (2 litre nirvana)

rb26 d jetro

277rwkw @1.2bar

408Nm@6100

Real nice car to drive, lots of usuable power and screams like crazy over 4500 and has phenomenaly strong mid and top... will interesting to see it lap winton this weekend,

Nice work uras, as a matter of interest, in reference to your first post. what was/is your theory regarding the Djetro.

Hey, URAS, can you tell me via PM about the modifications needed to run rb26 on rb25 and or rb20 ? I'm not in australia. So no intention to harm ur bussiness. I'm just having the dilema which way to go. rb26 PFC are way cheaper than rb25 new one. Is there a big difference in basic maps ? Like would rb25 start up with rb26 d-jetro with minor changes to inj. cc size and something else ? or ? If it possible of course ! Thanks!

Top stuff, nice to see someone pushing it & sharing setup/results for a change

send me the 26 ecu and i will set it up so it plugs in and fires up straight away.

When you say std RB20, do you mean it was rebuilt to standard specs? or just as is completely standard with just turbo, injectors and plenum? Obviously there are other accessories like catch cans/oil coolers and what-not, but they are more reliability accessories.

this engine has never been opened it is a wrecker special.

LOL, wrecker special

This is the 3rd std RB20 with this turbo setup making about the same power, the other two have plenty of kms under their belts with plenty of drift, track and motorkhana work to prove they are reliable at this power. I expect this setup will continue the trend :D

to true ^^^

New the kits are worth between $4500 up to $7,000. I think it depends on where you buy them and who from. Second hand if you find a full kit then they are usually about/under 3k with all the piping etc.

I am considering selling mine is for sale as my car is getting parted out in preparation for Track R32 EVO II :/ Sad news is it will be off the road for a long time

What's the turbo kit worth?

yeah new i sell them for $4900.

ABU... buy ROYS, honestley this R31 with the L2 is the BEST rb20 i have ever driven........ and one of the most fun cars ive driven full stop.

Hey, Trent, whats the difference in tunning the D-jetro ? Will I be able to tune it myself like the normal L-jetro ? Also is there a way to make it work for rb20 and rb25 ? LOL.

I guess its even easier with MAP, you wouldn't have to make changes to the airflow correction etc.

What about the O2 sensor ? Will be able to use stock sensor ?

What about fuel economy ? Can I achieve the same fuel economy as with MAF and 02 closed loop ?

And the last, but not least: turn around time. How long would it take you to make all the necessary changes ? And how much money are we talking about for doing that job ?

Also if I send power fc without controller, its alright, right ?

Thanks!

Let me know here or pm.

P.S.

Do I have to buy MAP sensors separately or they are included with D-jetro vers. of RB26 power fc ?

The only differerence is the way the cursor traces through the maps, tuning is the same, RB20 and RB25 is no issue..... vg30 is also no drama :)

i really prefer to get my fueling tables spot on instead of using the arflow % adjusters but on some problem cars it can be handly for hunting idles etc... all things you need not worry about with the d-jetro

yes it still has o2 feedback (closed loop) but honestley you can tune them up good enough not to have to use it.

i usually only do it as a drive in drive out operation but i can modify the the internal plug to suit either rb20 or rb25. Pm me for pricing.

yeah i dont use the hand controllers anyway, fc datalogit ftw

they are all separate but i can supply the whole lot.

trent, have I ever told you you are a very attractive man.

always enjoy your threads mate.

you have inspired me to put some cams in your old car to keep up with these RB20 buggers. :P

    • Here's the chart for fuel pressure vs. current draw, assuming your base fuel pressure is 3 bar and you run like 0.5bar boost on WOT, you should only momentarily hit 9amps here and there. (Ignore my prev post, I cannot read a chart these days it seems)
    • Those comp test results are not hideous. Whether they are accurate or not (ie, when that comp tester says 140 psi, is the real pressure120, 140 or 160?) is unknown to us. The state of the battery used to crank it over is unknown, etc etc. Many people around here would say that the absolute values and the spread are perfectly fine to just add boost and keep going. I personally would be happier with a narrower spread than that, but even the diff between 125 and 145 is not terrible. That one cylinder at 125 though, has probably copped some damage relative to the others. You should inspect the valves seeing as you've got it open. Do you know how to measure installed ring gaps? That, and an inspection of the rings themselves, is how you will determine whether they need to be replaced. If you're not good to do these things, take the block and the pistons and rings to a shop that is, and ask them for the go/no-go on them. Do the bores need a hone at all? If so, you might well be justified in getting some different pistons in order to get away from the ring supply problem. Whether you're happy to spend a lot more money right now, on more gear, rather than less money, but an amount that looks stupid given that you will only get a handful of rings in exchange for that money, is for you to decide.
    • also possibly backed up to my filler and shat down it! 🤣
    • Ok so i would love some advice here please, i purchased an R33 a few months back and its had a few mods done to the engine, its an RB25det running a Master ECU, 1200cc injectors, bigger turbo, oil cooler, oil filter relocation kit, Spool H-beam rods, acl/ross pistons. When i removed the motor from the vehicle (as its getting a respray) i thought i would compression test it and these are the following results. Cylinder 1-145psi, Cylinder 2-143psi, Cylinder 3-125psi, Cylinder 4-145psi, Cylinder 5-140psi, Cylinder 6-135psi this test was done with the motor on the ground and powering up the starter motor. I dropped the sump and found broken oil squirters on cylinder 3,5 and 6. I was told my rings are probably worn so i stripped the motor completely to get a new set of rings for it. The trouble is no one has these rings anywhere and they have to be custom made by Ross over in the states and will cost about $600+$200 delivery. My question is how can i tell if my rings are at fault and if they are still ok and is this price ok for a set of rings?
