Bin the 10cm housing. They make about the same peak power, but at 4,500rpm you will be losing 50-60rwkws :)

Id love to but $$$'s just dont see that happening anytime soon so will have to stick with it and see how it goes.

Used this to try a quick theory i had regarding d-jetro and other rb engines so i fired one up on a R33 first then fiinally fitted it up into this R31.

Std Rb20

Rx7 injectors

Thai plenum

Trust TD06-l2 -20g (2 litre nirvana)

rb26 d jetro

277rwkw @1.2bar

408Nm@6100

Real nice car to drive, lots of usuable power and screams like crazy over 4500 and has phenomenaly strong mid and top... will interesting to see it lap winton this weekend,

I forgot to ask Trent/Wheezy, is the car running an EBC, the full L2 kit and what size waste gate spring???

Cheers Ben

Standard Trust waste gate (42.5mm) with 0.7bar spring IIRC

Blitz ID3 (Dual Solenoid) EBC

Ah ok, my kit came with the Type R 47mm gate and i'll be running the 1.5bar spring but still contemplating if i should get an EBC or tune it with the turbotech first then borrow one to see if there are any gains to warrant the extra $$$'s

Im looking into other turbo options now as well :P

what turbo are you looking at?

Looking at viable options at them moment, would be great to get the L2 8cm but budget doesn't stretch that far at present but in no rush.

Want to match the turbo to the rest of the set up as best as possible so if that means waiting till i can afford to then so be it.

I too have the Type R gate (I have the pro L2 Kit), however I thought it was only 42ish mm in diameter....

I might check what the catalogue says tonight (and actually check the gate when i cbf)

grandmasterb : Spec R in the kit is 42.7mm, there is also a 51 and 61mm gate and some smaller ones. (Trust 2008 catalogue)

If you want a 1bar gate spring it can be ordered VIA an autobarn or GCG (if they will deal with you direct)....

If they are not in stock Im sure they wont take more than a month from Trust.

Raz: I think some cam gear and a slightly more aggressive tune could fetch 300 easily, but would be leaning on the engine. I would personally only do it for a dyno figure and pull the tune back again :P

Is that an Australian Trust catalogue Wheezy cause all the ones i've looked at online don't list the smallest (Type S) which is a 34mm, then there are Type R and C which are 47mm. I've just been using the GReddy US site so maybe its different???

I just ordered a new spring and gaskets from Japan as everyone i spoke to in Oz (including Autobarn) said they couldn't help me :starwars:

I still cant believe the numbers Trent was able to get out of your set with only 1.2bar and no cams/cam gears, i was only aiming for 240ish with my set up

Yup was an Aussie catalogue, they are sitting around all over my house LOL

You called the wrong autobarn's then :), I can tell you who to call in VIC, SA, and QLD (I'm not sure what state your in)

we just got rid of a heap of trust parts frigging cheap.....(autobarn as a whole) GCG is the new distributer.

FYI: Trust Type-R gates (and other types IIRC) come in various sizes.

i'm happy to hear yet another great result from the RB20. these sorta threads keep me motivated to support the little ripper.

who gives a shit about lag down low when you have all hell breaking loose up top! :(

agreed!

ive got a 535HP rated low mount internal gate turbo which will be going on my rb20.

just gotta get the rest of the parts i need, afm & injectors.

    • Yeah pretty impressive hey, good to see quality products not over-shooting their prices. That's what drew me to buy the hypergear turbo, just a shame I've never got the chance to see it in action
    • Thank you GTSBoy and MBS206 I have done the compression test with the motor out of the vehicle, reason for the test was to see if I needed to remove the head and do rings etc while its out. I'm in the process of respraying the vehicle and tidying up a few things. Story behind it all is I've just purchased the skyline and it was running when I got it, never drove it on the street though as I wanted to pull it down and do it all up again before registering it. the gentleman I purchased it from told me the motor has a forged bottom end and has a decent tune through it but I was going to pull the sump off anyway to see if it is a forged bottom end. that's why I thought id do a compression test beforehand.
    • Man, I'm kind of amazed that the price of the turbo has not changed in 7 years. Everything else is inflating beyond reason, but not this? Good on Tao / hypergear I guess? Anyways, good luck with the sale!
    • I'm selling my brand new, in the box, never used Hypergear ATR45 - and I had some additions I paid for a few yrs back when I purchased it. Never ended up having the rest of the money to add all the mods at once, so I just ended up slowly selling each part. I originally had it internally gated, with the dump pipe, however I found it was incompatible with what I was going to use it for, so I contacted (I think Ken) from Hypergear, and he and I messaged back and forth & he got me to ship the turbo back, where they modified it & made it externally gated, and gave me the 5 bolt dump pipe attachment for custom welding. (Photos below) This turbo like I said has never touched the inside of an engine bay, it's completely brand new, never used, been sitting in the same box it arrived in, covered in plastic & all. Below are the photos of it: And while the guys at Hypergear were making it in-shop, they sent me some photos of the process: I'm looking at selling this just because I'm in need of the money right now, and don't have plans on modifying the 34 anytime soon - and from reviews & peformance sheets, this turbo had amazing results back when I was researching. The turbo was purchased in 2018 for $1.9k, with the mods I got added on. Looking at the website now, for the same turbo they sell (ATR45SAT), with the current addons it adds up to $1830 for the turbo Current addons included: - Bolted dump adaptor - Ball bearing CHRA - Braided oil feeding line So I'm looking to possibly sell it for around $1800, with shipping included in that 1.8k, It cost me around $120 to ship - so yeah thought I'd throw it out there and see if anyone was interested in purchasing. Cheers!
