No dry break required Duncan.

All stops are 5 mins with refuelling permitted in park ferme with a fire marshal on hand.

I guess it was the same for the 500.

I ran in the event last year which was a great experience, so decided to help out this year in organising and running in the event.

Im looking forward to it again this year.

ahh good. yeah the 500 was the same there were 3 scheduled fuel stops. Related question....how does the refueling work? is it a fixed time for everyone or do I miss 5 min every time I need to refuel? The skyline will go thru a tank an hour, 300klm is about 140 laps at about 1.10 that is 2.5 hours so I will need 2 refueling.

Anyway I'm getting ahead of myself....who is organising it, what are the requirements and where can I get more info? What did you race in and what sorts of cars entered last year?

The 5 min stop is for anyone taking a stop for any reason. So everyone has to take at least one stop.

Any CAMS or AASA logged car can enter.

You will need your CAMS race license or your AASA National license.

Im working with the owner of Wakefield in the organisation and promotion of the race.

Im still waiting for Mathew to send through the information pack so I can get it out to competitors but fingers crossed it will be ready soon.

Ok sounds good....looks like a couple of us are a good chance to come along.

Thats great to hear Duncan. You may want to book your accomodation at the Pelican sheep station. There is a house there that sleeps 8-10 people, clean, well kept and they have a bbq you can use. We stayed there in 2006.

Its very handy. You can walk to the track, just watch out for the snakes!

I will have more information soon

Cheers

Steve

what sort of entry numbers are you expecting??

Being the final of the series Id imaging its going to be a large event??

Dont you know it!!!

AS long as its race ready and meets safty requirements you will be good to go.

As far as entry levels go we are working on 30 which will make it a busy race.

There will be various levels of drivers in the race which will make it interesting. There was not one incident in the race last year and wish for that to continue. It great practice for experienced teams and a excellent learning experience for up and coming teams and drivers.

There may be a few prototypes running in the race. This isnt confirmed but is a possibility.

The chassis is a Saker ( google it) fitted with a v6 twin turbo. Sick car..

Production car racers, combined touring, perhaps some super cars, 2 litre super tourers, 4wd turbos, S15.All sorts.

  • 1 month later...

The reg's and entry forms are now available on the Wakefield Park website.

They were a long time coming but now available.

It looks like a great weekend of racing coming up.

Friday is also available for practice.

I have sold my Celica 150hp St162(1.16.5/Wakefield Park)and MX5 and now race preping a MR2 Turbo (200rwkw) for the event. Should be able to keep you honest Duncan!!

It will be Prod Sports logged but without the restrictors. Also running Semi's instead of slicks.

There may be a R33 GTST racing in the W300 which is great news and few Improved Production guy's. Porsche teams are coming but the twin turbo Saker caught on fire and is back in the garage for more TLC. Ouch...

Two EA Ford running. One turbo the other NA.

im a chance of making this, fancy debuing the bumblebee at this meeting Duncan?

OK, 9 weeks...still a chance to get done in time...motor is in bits in the garage, but at least i have all the bits :)

thanks for the updates mate

jesus I figured you would be months away yet...we surely are! Not to discourage you but you really should consider some super sprints or sprint races before you go a long race like this.

On the other hand, if its ready to go it would be great to see a couple of skylines on the grid. I understand there is another one intending to enter from SAU who hasn't owned up yet :)

your probably right, im just getting itchy, spose ill have to crew...

The owner of Winton has picked up a R33 and may have it ready for the 300.

The entry is $600 per team for the event.

I have attatched the reg's and entry forms.

Well I hope you have it sorted Duncan.

Best of luck

  • 3 weeks later...

Just an update for people interested in the race. It looks like there will be a healthy field of cars running in the event. At least one supercar,a few sportscars,6 future racers, production cars with a few from the 12hr race using it as a test run, saloon cars, mr2's( mine and another turbo spec)and a few others.

MX5's will have a sprint race format.

Superkarts

Superbikes

LM proto's will have a run.The mini versions that is..

So is anyone coming down to race??

  • 3 weeks later...

Just an update on the reg's for the event.

A few RX7 owners who have driven at the 'Ring 24hr' expressed interest in the race but due to the pit stop reg's, they were concerned of destroying the motors as you must turn off the engine to refuel. It was not noted at the Ring 24hr you are able to refuel without a dry brake with the engine running as long as you have two fire marshalls on stand by. We have now adjusted our regs inline the with the Ring24hr allowing this rule for the Wakefield300. So you can run you GTR without having to turn off the engine and risk detination during pit stops.

We now have a few RX7's running, MX5 (turbo to my knowledge), 6 future racers, 6+production cars,V8 supercars, Super Tourers and more.

If you need more info contact Mathew at Wakefield

Cheers

    • Cheers. Skyline is back on the menu, can’t get rid of it. It’s like a child you don’t want, or herpes
    • I got back to Japan in January and was keen to get back on track as quickly as possible. Europe is god-awful for track accessibility (by comparison), so I picked up a first-gen GT86 in December just to have something I could jump into right away. The Skyline came over in a container this time and landed in early January. It was a bit battered after Europe, though—I refused to do anything beyond essential upkeep while it was over there. The clutch master cylinder gave out, and so did the power steering. I didn’t even bother changing the oil; it was the same stuff that went in just before I left Japan the first time. Naughty. Power steering parts would’ve cost double with shipping and taxes, so knowing I’d be heading back to Japan, I just postponed it and powered through the arm workout. It took a solid three months to get the car back on the road. Registration was a nightmare this time around. There were a bunch of BS fees to navigate, and sourcing parts was a headache. I needed stock seats for shaken, mistakenly blew 34k JPY on some ENR34 seats—which, of course, didn’t fit—then ended up having the car’s technical sheet amended to register it as a two-seater with the Brides. Then there’s the GT86. Amazing car. Does everything I want it to do. Parts are cheap, easy to find, and I don’t care what anyone says—it’s super rewarding to drive. I’ve done a few basic mods: diff ratio, coilovers, discs, pads, seat, etc. It already had a new exhaust manifold and the 180kph limiter removed, so I assume it’s running some kind of map. I’ve just been thrashing it at the track non-stop—mostly Fuji Speedway now, since I need something with higher speed after all that autobahn time. The wheels on the R34 always pissed me off—too big, and it was a nightmare getting tires to fit properly under the arches. So I threw in the towel and bought something that fits better. Looks way cleaner too (at least to me)—less hotboy, less attention-seeking. Still an R34, though. Now for future plans. There are a few things still outstanding with the car. First up, the rear subframe needs an overhaul—that’s priority one. Next, I need to figure out an engine rebuild plan. No timeline yet, but I want to keep it economical—not cutting corners, just not throwing tens of thousands at a mechanic I can barely communicate with. And finally, paint. Plus a bit of tidying up here and there.
    • Nope, needed to clearance under the bar a little with a heat gun, a 1/2" extension as the "clearancer", and big hammer, I was aware of this from the onset, they fit a 2.0 with this intake no problems, but, the 2.5 is around 15mm taller than a 2.0, so "clearancing" was required  It "just" touched when test fitting, now, I have about 10mm of clearance  You cannot see where it was done, and so far, there's no contact when giving it the beans Happy days
    • It's been a while since I've updated this thread. The last year (and some) has been very hectic. In the second-half of 2024 I took the R34 on a trip through Germany, Italy, France and Switzerland - it was f*cking great. I got a little annoyed with the attention the car was getting around Europe and really didn't drive it that much. I could barely work on the car since I was living in an inner-city apartment (with underground parking). During the trip, the car lost power steering in France - split hose - and I ended up driving around 4,000kms with no power steering.  There were a few Nurburgring trips here and there, but in total the R34 amassed just shy of 7,000kms on European roads. Long story short, I broke up with the reason I was transferred to Europe for and requested to be moved back to Japan. The E90, loved it. It was a sunk cost of around EUR 10,000 and I sold it to a friend for EUR 1,500 just to get rid of it quickly. Trust me, moving countries f*cking sucks and I could not be bothered to be as methodical as I was the first time around.
