Yes its Peter

They are made out of polyester resin.

There not refab gear knob but a new molded one.

The mold was taken off a almost new one and the process reporduces every detail right down to the crinckly leather/vynl finish of the original stock one.

As to price ! Ha ! Ive been making these for years and could never get any one to look at buying them or even looking at them for that matter.

In the end I gave away my stocks and sent them to people here on the forum at my own expense then basically gave up trying. No one was instersted when I told them they were exact repros made of polyester resin and couldnt tell the difference even looking at point blank.

I started out at $50 and went right down to $30 for the stock one. Couldnt sell one. Almost a year of development work off ond on to get the stock knob molding process right so it could be made all in the one go.

I never bothered to work out a price for the C/F one as that is a bugger to make. You gotta make two stock ones cut off the side panels on one and uses the center section on the other. Then profile down the center section C/F it, make the H pattern, then put about 5mm clear over the top. Sand and polish to the right profile and then attach the side panels. Oh and I can make the stock one in just about any colour.

Yes I have made other types.

I still have stocks of exact repro stock 300zx ones in the standard black and a bunch of other colours. The 300 gear knob is a lot longer than normal and when you try to replace it with an aftermarket one theres a large gap between the boot and the new knob.

In the 300 style I have a prototype totally water clear knob with bunch of clear diodes in the bottom that light the whole thing up when you put your lights on.

As to styles, I guess any thing can be done.

Polyester resin is fairly versatile and can be coloured just about any how.

I always thougth that the best looking style of knob was the stock shape with either the side panels in the colour of your car and the center black or the center section in the colour of you car and the side panels black.

But thats just my opinion and everyone an individual.

Ok so say i really really wanted the carbon one what would you charge? I supply my gear knob thats all.

And u charge 50bux for stock ones re-done?

Dude ! You misunderstand me. I dont need your gear knob.

There not reconditioned they are reproduction. I got a couple of finished stockers and about 6 unfinished one some where in a box around the place

can you do anything for us auto boys? there is a great lack of knobs for autos that have full functionality (over drive) and dont look like arse.

Hey Basti, I recently fitted a S1 Stagea auto knob to my car, it took a little moding but it looks great and O/D works..

I will get some pics.

Good job with the knobs by the way, if I still had my manual 33 I would have got one of the knobs off you.

    • There's restrictor pills in the stock boost control hoses. That's how they set the amount that was bled off and hence the "high" boost setting. The usual mod in the day was to remove it and send the "high" boost setting up to about 14 psi.
    • Thanks Duncan, that's the best info I've read. Furthermore after learning about the PCM programming side controlling the factory boost solenoid, the purpose of the solenoid is to "bleed" boost when pin 25 is earthed, thus allowing spring pressure in the wastegate actuator to overcome diaphragm boost pressure, thus closing or reducing the position of the wastegate flap creating more boost as the turbo is able to spin faster. It's pretty cool to see a designated Pill to do exactly this, would have liked to have seen it with a tiny filter over the end for those moments in vacuum.  The constant bleed pill has now been removed completely from the system and solenoid boost control has been restored once again.   Case closed 😂
    • The wideband reading is meaningless if it's not running. Why are you using shitty old sidefeeds on any engine, let alone a Neo? What manifold and fuel rail are you using to achieve that? Beyond that, can't help you with AEM stuff as I've never been their ECU/CAS combo.
    • Manual boost controllers (where a little of the boost was bled off) were quite common back in the day, because they were cheap and easy. Generally they had a manual adjustment screw rather than being fixed like yours. Down side is they always bleed boost, not just when you want them to so an electronic boost controller that uses a solenoid will have less lag.
    • Hello , im new here and i have A31 home build  RB25det neo stock eng / turbo  aem ems 2 blue connector  aem 3.5 map aem cas disk aem wideband connected to ecu  355 lph pump 550 nismo yellow injectors side feed aftermarket regulator  and won’t start with base aem tuner basic tune eventually flipped cas 180 degree so it triggers on correct stroke not in exhaust cycle  Now it won’t start Wideband reads 10 and 11 at lowest fuel setting  and will share calibrations soon for aem tuner i think something is wrong in aem tuner    please if you have any information, am very grateful
