i'm trying to remove the tail lights from my 32 to get the water out of them, but i hit an obstacle fairly early on. how do you get these things out? i only managed to get one out by very lightly unscrewing it but that doesn't seem to be working on the others ;) thanks!

yah, they're bitches... turn once to 'unlock' it, then pull... Once it is free spinning, that means it's unlocked, no amount of anti-clockwise force will help you...

Very easy to break too... so careful on the pull...

LOL! Yep the good old plastic screw...

As you unscrew them, you might need a very thin / fine filer or flat head screw driver to help hinge it out as your unscrewing it.

See how you go.

don't worry too much, you can get replacements from repco. if you can't get it out without damaging it, just cut it off with a pair of side cutters are replace it

best bet if you can get to the back of them is simply apply force to the side of the part you cant see ... engages the thred on teh screw more to allow them to be unscrewed with a driver - also dont put any force down on the screwdriver as you try to undo them

there was much bloodshed, sweat and profanity, but i got them all out. in my defence, i'm not a complete noob. i just wondered if there was actually some awesome way to do it that i wasn't aware of. sadly not.

wedge a very thin nail file or pin in the smaller circle which seperates the screw and the casing then force it up as you unscrew

Though most the time you cant get to it from underneath, so use a feeler gauge, or small screw driver to put some load on the spliced bit, just enough force to get the thread to grip again.

Worst case do Bluey33's method, but that will most likely mark the plastic.

And yah, you can get replacements from anywhere... getting the exact shade of grey can take some searching though.

    • I thought Australia got rid of the "drag dodgy fuel up to 91 RON with ethanol", which is why all E10 advertise as "up to 94 RON" ? Anyway I put E10/91 in the missus' Mazda because she empties the tank weekly, when all my cars get 98RON. tl;dr - turbo - 98 RON, if you can't afford that, sell it and get a commuter car (or tune your car for 91, which no one does).
    • Yeah i found that alot of parts can be wrong or "very" hard to get the real right one. I already bought some brakes years ago on me "old" GT calipers and they were wrong too 😄  I told them too. Even send them pictures...but they said "EBC catalogue has them on my car... So i dont know what their answer will be. I call monday them and let them know that they are really not on my car. If they were they would be already on a car...
    • Welcome to Skyline ownership. Yes, it is entirely possible parts websites get things wrong. There's a whole world of inaccuracies out there when it comes to R34 stuff (and probably 33 and 32). Lots of things that are 'just bolt on, entirely interchangable' aren't. Even between S1 and S2 R34's. Yes they have a GTT item supposedly being 296mm. This is incorrect. I would call whoever you got them from and return them and let them know the GTT actually uses 310mm rotors. Depending on where you got them from your experience and success will obviously vary.
    • Hi...a bit a "development" on the brakes. I spoke to the guys where i get brakes from...and they are saying that 296mm EBC are for R34 GT-T. I then went to their site: https://www.ebcbrakes.com/vehicle/uk-row/NISSAN/Skyline (R34)/ and search for my car(R34 GT 1998 - it has GTT brakes) and it show me this USR1229 number and they are rly 296mm rotors... So now iam rly confused... The rotors i have now on the car are 310mm asi shown... So where is the problem? Does the whole EBC got it wrong or my calipers are just...idk know what?
