Hello all,

Ive been fiddling around with my Series 1 R33 GTS-T and was hoping to hook up my aftermarket fuel pressure regulator that is just sitting in my engine bay doing nothing (was there when i bought the car)

I just have a couple of questions

1) What type does it look like? (brand? etc doesn't seem to say anything on it... so if anyone has seen one of these let me know)

2) How do i hook it up?

Below are some pics of the FPR and another pic so maybe someone can show me where to attach it... lol

I know i need to bypass the stock FPR otherwise theres no point hooking up the FPR lol

Any help would be great guys,

Thanks,

no need to be a d*ckhead..

just because your running around that figure doesnt mean you have the right to be a f*ck face about it.

im having fuel cutting issues at high boost and was hoping to try this out... (and yes ive thought about coil packs, spark plugs etc)

so f*ck off unless you really want to give me some help as im new to the whole skyline scene

BTW im not running a stock car... so STFU

well, if you're not running a stock car you should have listed your mods so anyone here can help you. Have you wondered why your thread is pretty much dead so far? Maybe you should read the beginner threads first and actually see how a skyline works before just "hooking up" something thats sitting there, even though you have no idea what it does...

Oh, and I Wasn't being a dickhead, I was telling you what everyone else will tell you.

That "number" was 100% my doing also by the way. EVery little bolt on, even the tune, I did all myself and encountered, and fixed all problems along the way. If you want to be a wanker and bag that out most of the experienced people will shy away from your thread.

And you never answered my question. Are you running more than 350rwkw? Because if you aren't, an aftermarket FPR is going to be a waste of time, and introduce a lot more problems......

I know a lot of reasons for a fuel cut, but you're ignorant and haven't posted your mods list so that people can diagnose it.

and with your kind of attitude, "new to the skyline scene" you might want to delete your SAU account, and sign up over at www.nissansilvia.com. Its full of people just like you.

its a malpassi

yuck.

The last 2 cars I tuned, we had to take them off and bin them.

The AFR's would be from one extreme to another. You go WOT, the AFR's would go to 11:1, not touch the tune, then WOT again on the next run, 13:1. Put the standard one on, and AFR's would hold perfect.

They are junk.

the stock nissan reg's are a great piece of gear man, put the stock one back on.

my tuner had the choice to stick on a adj one, and he kept the stock one FOR GOOD REASON.

when u start playing around with fuel pressures, u have to play around with alot of other stuff to compensate.

u also stated u had fuel issues. have u tried the source-the pump. if the stock one still operates effectively i fail to see how it can be the cause of u not GETTING fuel.

thankyou R33cruiser and r33-d-rift

yeah its just a problem i've been having with the car kinda stuggling and kinda miss firing at high end when on boost... every other time its fine..

The Mafia i dont see why you have to start talkin about the fact you made those gains by yourself? it has nothing to do with anything.

But i do admire the fact that you were able to make those figures by yourself... i wish i could

oh and im not an idiot... i do know what a Fuel Pressure Regulator does

im probably running 230rwkw

I came to this site to learn as much as i can... ask some questions when i need help... as thats wat the site is for..

but then the first post i get doesnt help anything... doesnt make ya feel very welcome... makes me think that i cant get help when i need it... im sure when you first started out you didnt know much either... so cut me some slack and maybe try to start to help me out...

also the reason i asked about the FPR being hooked up is because i got told by another skyline owner to come on here and ask about it because ppl are "nice" on here and respect each other.. and that i could get help...

you're so damn ignorant its just not funny anymore.

List your damn mods if you want some real help.

Also, I WAS NOT BEING A SMARTASS.

1. The STOCK regulator is capable up to 350rwkw. ARE YOU RUNNING THIS MUCH POWER?

2. My comment about selling it on ebay was also not a smart assed remark. ITs a malpassi. They are rubbish. If you want your car to run like rubbish, then hook it up.

I said all of that stuff about my gains, because you said that "just because I had that power number doesn't mean I can blah blah blah". Acting like a fool.

I tune cars. I see these problems everyday. I deal with ignorant people like you everyday.

List your mods, give us your power target, stop being a "the world owes me something" kind of a tool, and we'll help you.

You're asking a stupidly open ended question.

You haven't listed your mods, so what, how the hell are we supposed to diagnose the problem?

Do you have an aftermarket ECU?

Do you have an aftermarket turbo?

How much boost?

What fuel are you running?

What fuel pump?

What spark plugs?

What plug gaps?

And the list goes on.

We're all nice people here, but a lot of us have no patience anymore because day after day, some idiot signs up, asks a stupid vague question, and demands answers.

jono is right mate... they are only needed if you are wishing to "trick" your standard injectors...

what injectors are you running? why do you say you "think" 230rwkw? what turbo?

Im sorry for being ignorant and wasting your time... but you could of expressed yourself a little better

see the problem is im not too sure on all of the things my car is running...

i bought the car how it is now... and only had it for a month... i haven't had time to get it all checked out to see exactly what im running

it has an

EMS Stinger

I believe an upgraded turbo from GCG Turbos or made high flow from GCG's

Supposeably bigger injectors (but once again im not sure)

turbo back 3" exhaust

pod filter in box

Front Mount

running Vortex Premium 98

going for a major service soon and will be using those $25 a plug sparkies (platinum ones?)

at the moment its only running 7PSI... but with the 225rwkw it was at 13PSI i believe...

and thats it so far i think

you could of (sic: you mean "have") expressed yourself a little better

LOL. Permit me to express myself as eloquently as I think is possible: palmer, you're a knob with bells on. Please continue to futz around with your car while you don't know what you're dealing with. That way you'll kill it, and won't be on this forum to annoy the experienced and/or sensible people.

Edited by sl33py

pfft, sl33py/homer/ben cant even spell smArt

what is being said is that an aftermarket FPR f**ks around with too many things to be of any use to you.

go to the NSW section and ask around for a reputable tuner in your area(ish) and get it on the dyno.

the tuner will be able to tell you if your running stock injectors/fuel pump etc.

230rwkw is dancing around the limits of stock injectors and to use an fpr to push your car further is dangerous to your engine.

have you considered coil pack/plugs as your missing prob?

search around SAU and you'll find a BAZILLION threads about this.

buy some NGK BCPR6ES plugs (iridiums aren't worth the bother) and gap them to 0.8 and see if this helps... (plugs and gapping tool can be bought from autobarn for cheap)

haha yeah i was thinkin bout gettin better rims haha... ah well

thanks for the plugs to get aswell... im gettin a service soon so ill get him to get those particular ones..

ill hopefully be gettin my car tuned and checked out soon so then ill find out what im running... ill let you know once i find out :D

the guy said they were upgraded injectors but cant be too sure untill i actually get them checked out aye lol

yeah i was thinkin coil pack or sparkies could be the issue... so the service will help with the spark plugs... if it isnt that ill change the coil pack...

heard good things about the Spit Fire coil packs... how are they?

thanks again for your help mate

hey bud, Im not going to give you lectures about being a twit or anything.... but i will say that these guys do know what they are talking about and if you do what they say they will be alot more willing to help you out.. anyway back on the the issue......

I have 230kw atw because I have dynoed my car.. I have a tr43 attached to my engine... i was popping and missfiring all around the higher revs (but I was only at roughly 200 back then) got some new injectors and afm chucked in.. has worked a treat, cars now at 230 and we are only at 14 psi... going to put the boost up soon and look at around 250-260+

what i could see at 200kw is the symptoms you are describing... but I had an apexi power fc and commander which incase you dont know is an aftermarket computer that replaces and controls all of your car's engine electronics with the ability to monitor and adjust lots of crucial information about your engine. it said that after 5000rpm the engine was becoming unstable with low level detonation-(kills skyline engines really well) and my afm and injectors were both reading at 100% so the engine couldn't continue through the rev range.

the other two things that pop into mind is:

1. you didn't mention if you have an aftermarket fuel pump... if you do believe it to be a fuel prob and not injector issue then that would be the first thing i would check... that would be a way to help make sure the injectors always have some juice to suck.

2. you say you are going to do a major service using $25 plugs? I am telling you this now to go and spend that money on your missus or someone you care about.. cuz they dont do squat.. I had some ngks.. decided to lash out on platnums... opened them up... saw how small the conductor was.. decided to still give them a try... missfired all over the place... its written all over these forums.. dont put them in.. your probs will just get worse.

Finally.. throw out that fpr ! :D

1. The STOCK regulator is capable up to 350rwkw. ARE YOU RUNNING THIS MUCH POWER?

Technically it should be capable of any level of power if it can physically flow enough at the stock pressure.

I don't understand why so many people are against adjustable FPRs. As far as i can tell everyone reads the opinion of one or two who have had bad experiences without actually understanding how a fuel delivery system works or how an adjustable FPR affects it. (this isn't targeted at anyone in particular, just a general thing i've noticed)

For 220-230 wheel kW, bumping the pressure up slightly will be enough with the stock injectors, as long as your fuel pump can flow enough at the higher pressure. As said previously the tune will need attention since the injectors will flow more fuel throughout the rev range.

To the OP, answering The Mafia's questions is the only way you're going to get anything other than speculation.

230rwkw is dancing around the limits of stock injectors and to use an fpr to push your car further is dangerous to your engine.

Why?

To the OP, answering The Mafia's questions is the only way you're going to get anything other than speculation.

agreed, mafias questions totally valid, also pressure reg not needed at all for this boost level, the only difference between stock and aftrmarket is the base pressure, and if ur management and fuel system is set up right you dont need aftermarket.the standard is boost sensitive any way.all its gonna do is mess with ur reliability...also those wheels gotta go..

    • Back again. I returned to Japan in Jul/Aug to spend time with the car on my birthday and remind myself what all the sacrifice and compromise is for. It happened to line up with the monthly morning meet in Okutama, which I have been wanting to go to for a long time. It's a unique event at a unique spot with really rare, interesting, and quirky cars. It's where all the oldheads and OGs gather. The nighttime scene at DKF certainly has its place and should be experienced if you're into cars, but there's too much bad attention and negativity around it now. IMO the better time is Sunday morning at DKF or Okutama; it's more chill and relaxed. I'm glad I was finally able to go, but not sure it's worth the drive from all the way from Nagoya immediately the day before, unless I was already staying in Tokyo for the days right before the meet, because you have to wake up quite early to make it in time. Funnily enough though I didn't drive the car all that much this trip because it was just too damn hot. While there were zero issues and running temps were nominal and the A/C was strong, RBs already run crazy hot as it is. Sure, it took it all like a champ but something about driving these cars in the ridiculous heat/humidity bothers me and makes me feel like I'm asking too much of it. I'm just me being weird and treating the car like a living thing with feelings; I'm mechanically sympathetic to a fault. Instead I was mainly driving something else around - a KX4(silver) 2001 X-Trail GT, that I acquired in May. There's a few different flavors to choose from with Xs, but visually it's the Nissan version of the Honda CR-V. Mechanically it's a whole different story as this, being the top-trim GT, has an SR20VET mated to a four-speed auto and full-time AWD! It was a very affordable buy in exceptional condition inside and out, with very low mileage...only 48k kms. Most likely it was owned by an older person who kept it garaged and well-maintained, so I'm really happy with how it all worked out. It literally needs zero attention at the moment, albeit except for some minor visual touch-ups. I wanted something quirky, interesting, and practical and for sure it handily delivers on all three of those aspects. I was immediately able to utilize the cargo and passenger capacity to its full extent. It's a lot of fun to drive and is quite punchy through 1st and 2nd. It's very unassuming -in the twisty bits it's a lot more composed than one would think at a glance- and it'll be even better once I get better tires on it(yes, it's an SUV but still a little boat-y for my liking). So...now I have two golden-era Nissans in silver. One sports car and one that does everything else; the perfect two-car solution I think👍 The rest of the trip...I was able to turn my stressed brain off and enjoy it, although I didn't quite get to do as much as I thought. I did some interesting things, met some interesting people, and happened into some interesting situations however, that's all for another post though only if people really want to know. Project-wise, I went back to Mine's again to discuss more plans and am hoping to wrap that up real soon; keep watching this space if that interests you. Additionally, while working in the tormenting sweatbox that is the warehouse, I was able to organize most of the myriad of parts that my friend is storing for me along with the cars, and the 34 has a nice little spot carved out for it: And since it can get so stupid hot in there, that made it all the more easy -after I was standing there looking at the car and said 'f**k it'- to finally remove all the damn gauges that have mostly been an eyesore all this time. Huzzah. The heat basically makes the adhesive backing on the gauge mounts more pliable to work with, so it was far less stressful getting this done. I didn't fully clean it up or chase the wiring though; that will happen once I have the car in closer possession. Another major reason to remove all that stuff is to give people less reasons to get in my car and steal s**t while it's being exported/imported when/if the time comes, which leads us to my next point... ...and that is even though it's time in Japan is technically almost up since it's a November car and the X would be coming in March, I'm still not entirely sure where my life and career is headed; I don't really know what the future looks like and where I'm going to end up. I feel there's a great deal of uncertainty with me and as a result of that, it feels like I'm at a crossroads moreso now than any point in my life thus far and there are some choices I need to make. Yes, I've had some years to consider things and prepare myself, however too much has happened in that time to maintain confidence and everything feels so up in the air; tenuous one might say. Simply put, there's just too much nonsense going on right now from multiple vectors. Admittedly, I'm struggling to stay in the game and keep my eyes on the prize. So much so in fact, that very recently I came the closest I ever have before to calling it quits outright; selling everything and moving on and not looking back. The astute among you will pick up on key subtext within this paragraph. In the meantime I've still managed to slowly acquire some final bits for the car, but it feels nice knowing there's not much left to get and I'm almost across that finish line; I have almost everything I'll ever want for my interpretation and expression on what it is I think an R34 should be. 'til later.
    • Thanks for that, hadn’t used my brain enough to think about that.
    • Also playing with fire if they start to flow more air down low than what the stock twins can. It's not even up top you need to worry, it can be at 3000rpm and part throttle and it's getting way more flow than it should.
    • Any G40/1000 or G40/1250 results out there?
    • You still want a proper tune on the stock ECU though. Stock tune + stock ECU with GT-SS/-9s is probably playing with fire if you're running more than stock airflow/power.
