if you encounter a cop that is being a flat out wanker for no apparent reason simply ask for there badge number so you can file a complaint against him/her later on. it is an offence for them not to provide you with this information.

just about all of the cops i have delt with have pulled there head in majorly after i have asked for this information, minus the one dickhead that refused to give the number to me and subsequently lost his job over it in the end.

what the............!!

At the end of the day, when a cop pulls anyone over for whatever reason he feels like, remember that he's holding all the cards and if you choose to give be an arse to him in a defectable car (95% of cars on here are), he will own you.........so your best bet is to stfu and smile

i gotta say i keep a low profile these days, im carefull where/when i go for a drive. but ive never had any real problems with police.

i think the cause of this problem is the minority out there that feel the need to drive like a dickhead everywhere they go, and/or do hektik burnouts in the suburbs, ect. but most skylines i see drive respectfully, and good on them!

its heavy police presents that detour me from driving my car alot..

its sad that u can be pulled over for being sensible...

i think by all means if ur a ass in ur car doing stupid stuff u deserve it!

but yes its sad

The truth is the car scene has shifted to motor bikes due to police and petrol prices

Most people have got bikes for their speed fixes, the amount of times I've seen groups of bikes flexing around the streets, cops don't bother them cos there sooo fast

Also, dunno about everyone else but my car is 18 years old now and I just don't want to drive it around Adelaide for 3 hours (got a feeling others feel the same), I'd be keen to meet up some where and chat/chill

WTF? :bunny: Do you ride a bike Matt?

The bike scene has always been here in Adelaide, just as long as the car scene. We just changed with the change in machinery available to us, and the law. We've always been the target of cops, altho we do our best to keep a low profile. And an absolute majority of us are not speed junkies or stunt junkies. You make it sound like cops won't chase us because we speed everywhere and we'd just run from cops. Far from the truth mate. You've just taken that false view that Joe Public has of motorcyclists and spoon fed it here. Don't go blaming the false view that because "cops don't bother" catching us, that they target car drivers like yourself.

There is a small population of dickhead riders, but they just "passing thru". They are a minority and they usually give it up thru lack of commitment or because they "hurt themselves" You ride a bike, you learn to tolerate the attention from the law.

Me and my mates ride together all the time. We get out to Mallala for track days very regularly.

BTW fuel prices has resulted in increased sales in scooters. And scooter riders are not motorcyclists :D

Mate i've got a 25 year old skyline in the carport, and i have NO problems with driving it for 3+ hours!!! Its a joy for me to drive it, so when its back on the road again i'll be driving it flat out (apart from when its stinking hot then i'll be sitting in the inlaws pool!!!) If you've got that kinda attitude might be time to either A) sell it or B) buy a boonga and learn to appreciate what you've got more

I remember when i little a lil girl and my family and i went to Adelaide for holidays, my brothers were always pointing out skylines and showing me. I remember these skylines... clean, nice and fresh!

I dont know if im just lucky, but i drive my car through the city and bay nearly every weekend for the past 3 or so years, and i hardly ever get pulled over, only ever been defected for a loose air filter. People just need to modify there cars more smartly.

I remember when i little a lil girl and my family and i went to Adelaide for holidays,

Ur family went to >adelaide< for >holidays<?

(cries)

love our little town but man if I came here for a holiday I'd be really let down

-D

i think your missing my point pete, what gives them the right to pull someone over that is by no means doing anything wrong, just minding there own buisness in a seemingly clean legal car, obveiously if you have a loud exhaust or things like that thats a different story but its a generalisation on there part, its like me saying to a customer oh i refuse to work on your car because you look like the kind of person that doesnt have any money

now if i said something like that id get freakin shot! so what gives them the right to think oh its a performance car so it must have something illigal on it lets pull it over.

another thing that grinds my gears is how consistantly dumb the police are getting,95% of them wouldnt know a what blow off valve was if it jumped up and kicked them in the nuts. i for one think they should at least have some sort of training on at least the basics before they get the right to decide what is deemed legal or not on ones car.

i do agree tho most of the cars are defectable tho lol.

lol at what you said dommar too haha.

problem is cops are getting smarter. everyone owns or has owned a import at some time in their life. they are cheap and common as hell. and cops are learning.. and learning how to defect them.

cops arnt about fighting crime, its about making quota's.

i think being on P's make cops target u 10x more. everytime i go thru RBT's i get asked if im on my fulls. im like yep and get let thru. only thing cops have done me for is 'out of track'. and my rims were 30mm's out the gaurds. they only pulled me over coz it was obvious. apart from that never had probs. but thats coz i know my mods and know what to tell them. i manage to talk my way out of it.. and having 'just passed regency papers' in my glove box helps  but they do treat me like a criminal. like driving below the speed limit in the left lane.. but they still have a need to pull a u turn and request a random licence check every time.

but like said previously. just be nice and comply.. it will get u out of a lot of shit. but if they start writing up a defect notice.. give them a piece of ur mind, they deserve it and what they gona do.. double defect u for abuse lol.

cops need a major shake up. yes a lot of cars are defectable.. but come on.. priorities!!!! so many people driving around uninsured, no licence, have a warrant, driving drunk or on drugs, people speeding and no respect for road rules. surely these are more important than a 'unsecured pod filter'.

Alright that's a bit exaggerated...

Anyways, might be just that I'm lucky, but I dont very often see cops on the streets (might be cause I live in western suburbs). And even when I do see them they dont pull me over even when I drive a bit over speed limit or if my bov goes off etc... *knock on wood* On friday night I was doing close to 5000rpm on Hindley street, my bov was loud as f**k, and then I realised there were cops just next to me... and they didnt do anything... One time I drove past cop car with my front bumper missing and intercooler hanging out and again nothing... And I'm P-plater...

I better dont push my luck though... I know soon or later I'll get pulled over... it's just that so far I've been lucky

100% of the cars on here are

including mine for bad wheel fitment haha

but seriously , it would be good if we had a meeting spot where we could all go and just talk , suss out each others cars and just be civilized and not have to worry about the cops sitting on our arses

i know of a few good spots around the cbd that don't have police presence but depends on how many cars go there i suppose

I'm into bikes now, because of authority i am over the performance car scene.

I've always been into bikes. Cars are just an in-between interest. :D You're frowned upon as much as you are driving an import. But it does come down to where and when you ride. Just like if you cruise the city and bay Fri and Sat nights, you could be targetted as much. Same if you ride your bike the same stretch or in the known 'hot spots' in the hills. With the exception of RBT stops, I get pulled over on the bike 3-4 times a year. I haven't been pulled over in the car yet. Even tho I'm frowned upon more on my bike, it doesn't deter me whatsoever.

Owning 5 bikes and 2 cars is evident of where my heart is at :/

What do you ride?

cops arnt about fighting crime, its about making quota's.

Yer proof of that is the fact that since they've bought in the drug driving laws im yet to get pulled into an RBT station for a drug check (not that they'd get a +ve result)...Infact can't remember the last time i was pulled into an RBT at all!

I've never been pulled over, RBT, or anything to do with the cops.....

but then again....cops aren't gonna pick on a lil lowered laser with chrome rims and a chill sound system LOL

    • The car/ECU will have all the sensor that it needs and expect to have. I think i do not have to explain to you how the Link is way better specialy if you have swapped engine   I just do not want to deal with any "problems" cuz i have only Nistune which i learned is not that great and in my case cant even deal with that speed problem (Link can) And of course it will be way more easier to tune and diagnose and safe. And for the ECU/speed problem...i dont know.
    • Per Mark Roberts of Sonictune: Mark Robert Author At this time, no. No ETA either 2016-17 models. You will be able to purchase and install a 2018.5+ TCU though   TCU purchasing and pricing info! As we near the release of TCU tuning, I am going to answer some questions I get asked often.   What do I need for TCU tuning? At this time, you will need a 2018.5+ TCU to be able to tune. If you have a 2016-to early 2018, you will need to replace your TCU with the newer version. One good way to know if your TCU is good is if you have auto upshift in manual mode in 1st gear around 6500 rpms. If your manual 1st gear goes to 7k rpm and will hit the rev limiter unless you shift, you have the older TCU.   Why do I need to buy another ecu license/phone flash if I already have it on my ECU tune? The TCU is its own computer module. It is completely separate from the ECU. Because of this, you will be required to purchase a TCU license and, if your tuner has it, the phone flash license required to tune it via phone/bluetooth.   Do I need TCU tuning? TCU tuning is NOT required. However, the faster your setup, the more it will assist in track and dragy time consistency.   If I’m ECU tuned by (tuner A) can I get my TCU tuned by (Tuner ? Yes, since it’s a different module and a completely separate flash, you can have two different tuners. However, it is highly recommend that you have both tuned by the same tuner. For me, my TCU tuning will directly complement my ECU tuning style and features and running my ECU and another TCU or vice versa MIGHT cause some issues. At this time and for the foreseeable future, I will only be tuning my current ECU tuned customers TCUs.     I have a SYVECS AWD controller. Do I still need it? Yes! The AWD controllers main job is to control your AWD system. However, with TCU tuning, you will no longer need the auto-shift function as that will be done through the TCU. The AWD controller will still be very beneficial for racers looking to maximize traction on the launch.     Shift schedule changes: holding gears longer at lower pedal input as well as max shift rpm changes. Please note, the new ECU race rom coming out will address 90% of the shitty drivability issues these cars have through custom maps from myself and Racebox—as well as others I am sure.   Increase shift speeds: as seen in the videos I’ve been posting, the TCU shifts much faster once tuned.   Increased shift pressures: as also seen in the videos, much firmer full throttle shifts.

    • The fancy pants red shock tower brace is finally incoming from MX5 Mania, getting it shipped from 'Merica has been a long and problematic process, and GWR, the 'Merican supplier will not ship directly to consumers outside of the US, Mania basically had to order a heap of them, the colour choice was silver, or red, and we all know anything red adds 5 killerwasps of dynotorques..... Whilst it does fit over a 2.5, and I've seen a few photos and videos of it being installed and fitting, google also says it might get real close to the FAB9 intake front runner, people in the US says it does fit with the FAB9 intake, except for one person who said it slightly touched.......so there is that.....LOL..... As it seems that I am the first in AU to have this combination of parts there's no local knowledge about fitment, so I'm just a willing guinea pig in this endeavour, I'll cross my fingers and toes and hope for the best In other news, I ordered stuff from China  on the same day I ordered the 23° silicone bend from Victoria, the stuff from China arrived a day ago, the 23° silicone bend is still travelling around Australia thanks to Australia Post, and "may" be here next week
    • Very good news...I contacted Racebox about it last night. My car is a 2016 so remains to be seen if it is compatible, requires a TCU swap, or is impossible.
