as far as my boss knows im working.. so shhhhh!

nuh f**k msn. i used to have it and never got any work done.

but back on topic.. if u guys wana do regular meets, theres some good spots. me and my friends used to meet on the corner of anzac hwy and marion rd. never ever had police probs. close to shops. and u just go straight up cross rd or greenhill to get into the hills. mmm hills, would love to go on a hills run soon one nite.. if anyone is keen.

i think your missing my point pete, what gives them the right to pull someone over that is by no means doing anything wrong, just minding there own buisness in a seemingly clean legal car, obveiously if you have a loud exhaust or things like that thats a different story but its a generalisation on there part, its like me saying to a customer oh i refuse to work on your car because you look like the kind of person that doesnt have any money

now if i said something like that id get freakin shot! so what gives them the right to think oh its a performance car so it must have something illigal on it lets pull it over.

another thing that grinds my gears is how consistantly dumb the police are getting,95% of them wouldnt know a what blow off valve was if it jumped up and kicked them in the nuts. i for one think they should at least have some sort of training on at least the basics before they get the right to decide what is deemed legal or not on ones car.

i do agree tho most of the cars are defectable tho lol.

lol at what you said dommar too haha.

yeah Jack I wasn't flaming you. We keep screaming for more of a police presence on the road due to the increasing crime rate each year so we can't keep crying out foul, we take the good with the bad. No doubt that cops have a daily quota to fulfill which is to justify the number of cops patrolling the streets and their income to the government coffers otherwise we would find them having a siesta under a tree somewhere and our taxes would keep rising to support the extra police presence, classic case of taxes vs fines, I prefer the latter.

No doubt there is a stigma with young looking males in imports and the attraction to cops.......take a teaspoon of cement and learn to live with it cause its been like that forever, only difference now is that it used to be young looking drivers in EH Holdens.

The first thing that will attract a cop to you is behaviour on the road (1st) then the car you drive (2nd).

I ride one of the most obnoxious and in your face things in Adelaide....yet I feel comfortable in town and down at the Bay. In the last 18 months I've been pulled over 3 times on the bike and in the end they only wanted a look. When you hit town or the Bay, just be sensible and avoid the blitz areas for defects ie. Colley Reserve.

i agree id rather the latter part of your comment too pete.

the same thing happens with my father on his bike, its rediculasly loud.so loud that i know when hes coming home 5 minutes before he actually arives because i can hear it from blocks away and he has never had a problem with the police, with the hypercharger on it the induction noise is intence lol if anything that gets peoples attention more then how loud it actually is.

lol im at work to steve,i have nothing to do here anyway its very quiet today.

I've always been into bikes. Cars are just an in-between interest. :D You're frowned upon as much as you are driving an import. But it does come down to where and when you ride. Just like if you cruise the city and bay Fri and Sat nights, you could be targetted as much. Same if you ride your bike the same stretch or in the known 'hot spots' in the hills. With the exception of RBT stops, I get pulled over on the bike 3-4 times a year. I haven't been pulled over in the car yet. Even tho I'm frowned upon more on my bike, it doesn't deter me whatsoever.

Owning 5 bikes and 2 cars is evident of where my heart is at

What do you ride?

As of today, an Aprilia RS125. im a sucker for 2 stroke powerbands i guess, i'm going to work my way to the RSV Mille when i qualify.

my mechanic got defected! cop thought his r34 was an r32..................... :D the defect note says it's major, uncompliant air filter and uncompliant intercooler! and all i can say is there is nothing wrong with the air filter, it's got 2 brackets on it! and the fmic, there was nothing cut in the chassis so i'm stumped! oh and zero driving hours

Used to be crap in the later days of CSA, we'd always get randoms in commonwhores doing a quick open wheeler then go speeding off down marion road....5 minutes later a cop would arrive and ask what was going on. lol

it comes down to the age old argument, what other people cant have they make other people pay for,any car that looks like it gets looked after,is one reason too many for the coppers to check it over. its just lucky they dont know what thier looking at,the day that happens were all in trouble,i just got me a r33 with all the bits,i spent most of the weekend just trying to hide bits they look for,its rubbish its got that way.

Yep, when I got a new dash I went to the trouble of removing the big boost gauge and hiding the boost controller into the glovebox.. took a while but now my interior looks stock standard and thats a Good Thing

Actually thats pretty much exactly what happened on my cruise Eddy.

Went down to maslins, then a commonwhore rocked up, did some ringies in the carpark, down the other end from us, sped off and then bout 20 mins later the cops rocked up.

Didn't say anything or come over to us. Just sat in their car in the opposite carpark, watched us standing around the cars...and then drove off.

I took photos of them using my uber massive zoom lens :D

bla bla bla to much junk to read, the street scene is still there your all just not looking, and the cops are fine stop bagging them they go on these sites and they are doing their job and everytime they have come on my cruises they have NEVER put a pretty sticker on any of the cars

by the way cruises will re start soon :D

yeah i had gauages for boost, temp on pillar,t/timer under the s/wheel and under the bonnet were those cheap looking hose covers etc,so i ripped it all out to clean it up,looks pretty standard inside. put me t/timers and boost controllers under dash in hidy holes for any changes, but it wont stop them pulling us over unfortunately. we need to have more cruises organised in sa,more out of town cruises tend to attract less attention, all we need a newmeeting spot or way to communicate within us all, without hopefully attracting the hoon drivers

well the car scene has died in adelaide because of this stupidly cold conditions

while these conditions are great for our front mounts

its not so good on us human beings

wait till summer boys and gals

the car scene will definately return but at the same time the cop attention will too

its so stupid that the cops make us import drivers a moving target

as some of you know i have recently been defected

the reason being "suspected suspension damage"

now how they came up with that i dont know

but after escaping the defect numerous times i guess i was expecting to be done sooner or later

we have cruises i organise them and have been since the star of the year almost, i have rules and we dont go near the city and the meet spot if fine and wont be changing also most of everyone has my number so thats how we stay in touch or we have radios

    • Hey Dave, welcome aboard! Good to see another soon-to-be Stagea owner here. The wagons are awesome — plenty of space, still got that Skyline DNA, and loads of potential if you’re into mods. Definitely post up pics when you get it, everyone here loves seeing new builds. What model/year are you looking at?
    • See if you can thermal epoxy a heatsink or two onto it?
    • The other problem was one of those "oh shit we are going to die moments". Basically the high spec Q50s have a full electric steering rack, and the povo ones had a regular hydraulic rack with an electric pump.  So couple of laps into session 5 as I came into turn 2 (big run off now, happily), the dash turned into a christmas tree and the steering became super heavy and I went well off. I assumed it was a tyre failure so limped to the pits, but everything was OK. But....the master warning light was still on so I checked the DTCs and saw – C13E6 “Heat Protection”. Yes, that bloody steering rack computer sitting where the oil cooler should be has its own sensors and error logic, and decided I was using the steering wheel too much. I really appreciated the helpful information in the manual (my bold) POSSIBLE CAUSE • Continuing the overloading steering (Sports driving in the circuit etc,) “DATA MONITOR” >> “C/M TEMPERATURE”. The rise of steering force motor internal temperature caused the protection function to operate. This is not a system malfunction. INSPECTION END So, basically the electric motor in the steering rack got to 150c, and it decided to shut down without warning for my safety. Didn't feel safe. Short term I'll see if I can duct some air to that motor (the engine bay is sealed pretty tight). Long term, depending on how often this happens, I'll look into swapping the povo spec electric/hydraulic rack in. While the rack should be fine the power supply to the pump will be a pain and might be best to deal with it when I add a PDM.
    • And finally, 2 problems I really need to sort.  Firstly as Matt said the auto trans is not happy as it gets hot - I couldn't log the temps but the gauge showed 90o. On the first day I took it out back in Feb, because the coolant was getting hot I never got to any auto trans issues; but on this day by late session 3 and then really clearly in 4 and 5 as it got hotter it just would not shift up. You can hear the issue really clearly at 12:55 and 16:20 on the vid. So the good news is, literally this week Ecutek finally released tuning for the jatco 7 speed. I'll have a chat to Racebox and see what they can do electrically to keep it cooler and to get the gears, if anything. That will likely take some R&D and can only really happen on track as it never gets even warm with road use. I've also picked up some eye wateringly expensive Redline D6 ATF to try, it had the highest viscosity I could find at 100o so we will see if that helps (just waiting for some oil pan gaskets so I can change it properly). If neither of those work I need to remove the coolant/trans interwarmer and the radiator cooler and go to an external cooler....somewhere.....(goodbye washer reservoir?), and if that fails give up on this mad idea and wait for Nissan to release the manual 400R
    • So, what else.... Power. I don't know what it is making because I haven't done a post tune dyno run yet; I will when I get a chance. It was 240rwkw dead stock. Conclusion from the day....it does not need a single kw more until I sort some other stuff. It comes on so hard that I could hear the twin N1 turbos on the R32 crying, and I just can't use what it has around a tight track with the current setup. Brakes. They are perfect. Hit them hard all day and they never felt like having an issue; you can see in the video we were making ground on much lighter cars on better tyres under brakes. They are standard (red sport) calipers, standard size discs in DBA5000 2 piece, Winmax pads and Motul RBF600 fluid, all from Matty at Racebrakes Sydney. Keeping in mind the car is more powerful than my R32 and weighs 1780, he clearly knows his shit. Suspension. This is one of the first areas I need to change. It has electronically controlled dampers from factory, but everything is just way too soft for track work even on the hardest setting (it is nice when hustling on country roads though). In particular it rolls into oversteer mid corner and pitches too much under hard braking so it becomes unstable eg in the turn 1 kink I need to brake early, turn through the kink then brake again so I don't pirouette like an AE86. I need to get some decent shocks with matched springs and sway bars ASAP, even if it is just a v1 setup until I work out a proper race/rally setup later. Tyres. I am running Yoko A052 in 235/45/18 all round, because that was what I could get in approximately the right height on wheels I had in the shed (Rays/Nismo 18x8 off the old Leaf actually!). As track tyres they are pretty poor; I note GTSBoy recently posted a porker comparo video including them where they were about the same as AD09.....that is nothing like a top line track tyre. I'll start getting that sorted but realistically I should get proper sized wheels first (likely 9.5 +38 front and 11 +55 at the rear, so a custom order, and I can't rotate them like the R32), then work out what the best tyre option is. BTW on that, Targa Tas had gone to road tyres instead of semi slicks now so that is a whole other world of choices to sort. Diff. This is the other thing that urgently needs to be addressed. It left massive 1s out of the fish hook all day, even when I was trying not too (you can also hear it reving on the video, and see the RPM rising too fast compared to speed in the data). It has an open diff that Infiniti optimistically called a B-LSD for "Brake Limited Slip Diff". It does good straight line standing start 11s but it is woeful on the track. Nismo seem to make a 2 way for it.
