Mayo, you say you don't want too low, and then say a 1"-2" drop is nice. Let me guarantee you that if you have crap roads like we do here in Adelaide, then a 2" drop is WAY too much and you will bottom out your front bar lip (if you have a Nismo copy one like mine) and exhaust on everything. I am so jacked off at my springs that I am going to go back to 350Z springs when I come across some.

I wasn't to sure how much drop I would get with some of the set ups I was looking at. So the 1-2 inch drop was a guesstimate. I don't want to go back breaking low, so if you say 2" is like that then I will take your word for it and aim a little higher (pun intended.lol). Like the 350Z springs you also have your eye put for. Thanks for the advice.

Precicely why i'm only going for a 1.1'' drop, roads in this town are disgusting. Pot holes the size of the road. I think the car is low enough from stock, but since i'm putting 20's and shit i need to go lower to avoid 4x4 spec.

Tyler- I reckon you should get some Eibach pro kits, 1.1'' would be a nice drop. I know a bloke in the states with the same wheel + tyre specs and same springs as me and it looks perfect not crazy low but not 4x4 spec.

Hi Mayo,

I have OEM z springs and shocks from a 2004 track done 35000kms, willing to sell for $250 if your in Melbourne....let me know.

Done :)

PM with details and will orgnAnjse a pick up.

Thanks heaps

Finally some happy snaps of my V. Photos were taken a few weeks ago after she was freshly cleaned, debadged.

Holy Jesus your car looks nice - why can't I find an example this clean that wont cost me drug money!? Perfect, a drop will completete it for sure.m

I think I was just lucky to come across this. I had been looking for like 6months. Grade 5 import made it a done deal.

Thanks guys for all the kind words and advice

Cool cool, i've been thinking about getting one but i don't think i can justify the $300 odd for something i would hardly use. My mates got one and he brings it along to all our cruises and it's really impressive the quality that comes from such a small recording device!

Agree Sean thats why i borrowed this one, the quality of the video is awesome. Next time i'll mount it on the inside of the windscreen to reduce wind noise and hear the full roar of my intake better

Haha true, yeah my buddy always has one on his Midnight purple R34 GTR (sex on wheels) he loves it but the down side is apparently it takes ages to upload the footage. But damn it's good quality and it's cool seeing our cars from different perspectives.

I've got Eibach pro kits waiting to go on 1.1'' drop all round which will be perfect for me as a daily drive. S-Techs i think go lower to a 1.5'' drop roughly same price. I am investing in coils soon though.

^ what he said about S.Tech haha,I have that on mine and can't go over a speedbump straight on,need to take it on an angle =P.

  • 2 weeks later...

This is my opinion but if your going to lower it is a distance that is noticeable. Spend all that money for a 1/2inch drop is a waste and poi tless too.

I don't think $220 for a set of springs that will drop me 1.1'' all round is a waste of money, particularly how bad the roads are up here. If i were to drop it anymore i'd have to start buying a bunch of front bumpers so i can replace it every time i destroy one on a driveway//normal bit of road..

Also the fact that i know 1.1'' is a nice drop and has a little bit of wheel gap.

    • So, now all you need to do is connect the 2 or 3x 12v feeds into the unit to permanent 12v, ACC 12V and IGN 12V that you can find in the spot behind the stereo, and the earth, and then it will switch on with the car.
    • Yes then it will turn on but I want the car features to work
    • My thought is if you were just moving it forward and the upstream geometry remained the same, then no difference at all. But because the current one has the filter direct into the AFM inlet, you effectively have the best chance of a completely symmetric air flow profile upstream, and in, the AFM, whilst the aftermarket inlet thingo has a (small, to be sure) bend between the filter and the AFM. That would bias the flow to the outside of the bend (downstream of the bend) which might well reduce the size of the signal seen by the AFM, for the same total flow rate. Having said that: If you're proposing to make your inlet look like a hybrid of your existing one and the aftermarket one, such that there is no bend where the filter is clamped on... then I say it will be just fine. If there is going to be such a bend, then, if you can align the insertion of the AFM blade such that it is at right angles to the plane of the bend, then there is a better than even chance that the centreline velocity where the blade is will remain more or less the same, and the velocity will just be a little faster to the outside of that, and just a little slower to the inside. **This is not professional investment advice and you should consult a suitably qualified ouija board, tea leaves or the intestines of a goat for more accurate prognostication.
    • Hi Tao, Thanks for your reply.  It's been a while and I managed to get the valve stem seals replaced with the head on the car.  Unfortunately this didn't solve my issue, the car still smokes a lot after idling (to be honest during idle you can see a bit of blue smoke from the exhaust), same after deceleration. I will try disconnecting the valve cover breathers, do I leave the PCV valve in? By engine oil drain pipe, do you mean the turbo oil drain?
    • What about if you just give it direct 12v and earth?
