Hey, Ive been looking at buying an 92-93 R32 GTSt for about 4 months now, I really wont a car thats 5speed with a sunroof, not too modded. Ive got aroung 15k.

Ive had 2 cars inspected by RACV/NRMA, one had major structural damage, the other was good but the motor blew up the day after the test was done!

Ive also offered money on 2 others but no one is willing to sell with RWC.

My question is: Where are all the R32's? Why arent there any for sale? I thought it would be the perfect time to sell-as of next year '89 cars will be 5k cheaper than '92-93 cars, no one will want later models anymore.

If anyone knows of any cars that match the description Ive given, preferably white, please post or pm me. Must be willing to sell with RWC.

Thanks, sorry to vent my frustration online,

Rhett

There have been a few decent ones around..but a lot seem to be interstate.. when it comes to the right car.. a $300 airfare doesn't seem so bad, especially if you can get most of the details sorted with the buyer before you actually take the plunge.

I bought my car from Mildura :D

woaa... lucky you had those tests done..What about importing directly? You should be able to pick one up for well under $15k.. with a few $k to spare, which would be enough to replace a few major things if it came to worse

the other was good but the motor blew up the day after the test was done!

Yer but they passed it ...and *then* the motor blew up.. go figure. 50% success rate on their car inspections... you'd be happy with those odds wouldn't you xRHETTx? :D

You're best off taking the 32 to a garage and getting it checked out by somebody who works on skylines everyday. RACV don't know crap about imports.

LOL surprising RACV actually found a problem with a car which wasent superficial!!

The racv inspected a car for me which is currently 4 sale at JSV in Thomastown, they said the car had been ina major accident, it even had a 10litre dint in the fuel tank! No wonder they were very anti me getting the test done. So 1 point to RACV.

The other car i had inspected was for sale in Sydney therefore NRMA inspected it. They gave the car the thumbs up (even though they dont do a compression test, and would not, even for extra money, unlike RACV). So i negotiated a price, booked my flight and the nest day the crankshaft/piston/etc were fuct, car wouldnt even start apparently. Lucky i hadnt paid for it yet.

Meggala, u already offered me ur car a while ago, but since u have done the conversion now and no a/c ill say no thanks.

Inark, really want a white car with sunroof, so no thanks either.

Does anyone know if RAWS compliance is available yet in Vic for R32 GTSt? I think i might have to import, to get the car that i want. Id rather a 93 car than an 89 coz of it would be a bit newer, and i wouldnt have to wait too long.

I dont mind travelling, but now ive spent $500 on inspections and lost another $120 for an airfare coz they dont refund.:D

Speak to Craig at J-spec .. he should be able to give you a good rundown of what is happening, how long it will take to import, and will give you answers 5 times quicker than 20 of us can give you :D the number is 0400 502 250 or www.j-spec.com.au

They are well regarded...

Yeah Inark, have already seen that car on the mailing list. Its awesome, but I really dont want to have to wait til next year for a car. But someone should buy that car!!!

Dean from UPI said 4-6 weeks for compliance for R32's.

Will have to sell the R31, but id love a GTSR once im rich and famous and can afford to have more than one car.

    • Thanks for the quick reply. To be clear, when you say turbo shuffle do you mean turbo flutter "stustustu" or referring to something else? I had thought they were the same thing. When I wrote the post my intention was to say it wasn't a flutter/compression surge sound. My understanding was that a flutter sound would be occurring when throttle is released, whereas I can keep the throttle in the same position for this noise
    • Hi everyone, I've been wrestling with this for a while now and have been trying to find out the cause. For context, the turbos used are Garrett 2860 -5s, the BOV is a BNR32 HKS SSQV IV kit, the car is currently tuned to ~470 whp on 17.5 psi. The car drives normally, pulls well when it doesn't happen, and I can replicate it fairly easily. It does not sound like turbo shuffle or flutter. The engine has only a thousand or so miles and has had this behavior since it was completed. After my engine was built for my R32 GTR, I noticed that the car now sometimes makes an air discharge sound on what appears to be positive boost pressure that sounds really similar to a BOV. I had thought that it was a BOV issue but even when replacing it with a brand new unit, the sound persisted. It seems like it's coming from the passenger side but I may be mistaken. The closest scenario I could find was this post here https://www.gtr.co.uk/threads/maybe-a-boost-leak-opinions.147955/https://www.gtr.co.uk/threads/maybe-a-boost-leak-opinions.147955/ started by @yakshii and it sounds very similar. As in, at partial throttle once I reach positive boost I begin to hear the same psh psh psh psh psh sound like air is leaking somewhere when I keep the throttle in the same position. It most commonly happens in 4th gear at around 3-3.5k RPM and 5th gear around 2.5-3k RPM, which seems to coincide with normal positive boost thresholds. It might be similar to what @Austrian GTR mentioned about his own HKS SSQV. Notable difference would be that when he applies more throttle when it happens, it stops. In my scenario if I apply more throttle during this repeated psh psh psh sound, the cadence of the sound gets faster and louder rather than stopping. If I lift off slightly and apply throttle again, it will normally stop and pull without issue. I've checked all rubber couplers to ensure that they are tight, but have not gotten the opportunity to properly do a pressurized boost leak test. If anyone has had similar experiences or thoughts on what might be the cause, I'd be very keen to hear them. I also have a video of it happening from inside the cabin, if that would make it easier to understand: https://youtu.be/2zqZXcx8jbA
    • I'd want at least $40K for mine, but thats easy to say cos I'm not selling anyway.
