will my wake field licence be good anough cause i dont really wont to renew my s2 cams at this stage. (and again i have to get the engine in first)

Sorry, CAMS L2S is minimum licence for SDMA - Wakie is ASSA and SDMA is CAMS

Licence can be obtained/renewed on the day at SDMA

I was told that was not the case now. You must be fully paid with CAMS before you are considered entered. You can finalise the paperwork on the day but the money must be paid prior.

Not that 2 days should stop anyone.

Nope, you can get it on the day from the club... in fact they recommend it so that your 12months membership starts on your first race day. Just let them know thats what you're doing so they can have the forms printed/ready. Didn't you see all those Evo/Rex people getting their licences while u were at the last hillclimb?

I thought you can't get temp license for renewals....

Not sure which part you're referring to as a temp licence - The day membership is only for being a member of SDMA so you can try before you join or to cover off those who do not compete there often. CAMS is only for a year, SDMA will give you the CAMS 30 day temp licence (butt at the end of the page) to cover you until CAMS send your official licence through.

Both can be obtained on the day, but entry forms still have to be in on time (entries not accepted on the day) and let the Event Secretary know you are getting your membership and/or licence on race day when you put your entry forms in.

To compete you will need

1) entry forms in on time

2) SDMA membership (day or til June 30)

3) CAMS L2S licence (mimimum)

If you are a member of another CAMS affiliated club, it may be worth asking the President/Event Secretary if they will accept your entry without joining SDMA, however, its a good club to be involved in, they have been very supportive of me.

Sunday 19th - Competition Day

Be there Sutton road

All payments to be made at least 2 days before the event.

http://www.sdmahillclimb.com/

So we have Reece, Donnon, Michele, Mark, Chris at least, who else?

Even if not competing lets get out there and support those that are.

Supras look to be bringing Kristel so far confirmed. It would be so funny to see the only person with enougth balls to compete was a woman.

I went to the homepage of sdma and clicked the link for entry forms, just about as it was to open up in pdf, i got a window saying file is corrupt and could not be repaired! can anyone help?

p.s. just to confirm, i can pay the $10 sdma membership and the cams license $95 on the day(when i get there), BUT you must fill out the form and pay the $70 by thursday?

Is this correct? or can i pay everything on the day even the $70 event charge wich means total $175.

The soonest i'll be able to pay if i enter is on wednesday night(15th).

Finally, an event where I'm NOT working on that weekend! I'll be there to cheer you lot on! (Dammit: why can't I have the beastie ready to kick some Supra tail...)

Try downloading again, worked for me. Save onto hard drive first if you have a slow connection.

Wednesday night is fine to pay by if EFTing it. I think you are correct about payment but please call Rob or someone from SDMA for confirmation.

You can either deposit all by Wednesday and fill forms on the day, or pay entries only and let them know when you email the entry forms (copy/paste deposit details in email) that you will be obtaining a CAMS licence and day club membership on the day. Print and sign you entry forms and take them with you to hand over in the morning (they have to have original forms with signature).

But you must have your entry forms emailed to them by closing date to run.

Everyone:

Anyone who would like to do this, but are feeling a bit uneasy and would like some support, please send me a PM and I'll give you a call and help where I can, because while it does feel a bit daunting at first, it really is a lot of fun and the club is very supportive.

Its affordable, its not too hard on your car (no different to any short bursts of spirited driving you may have done).

Don't forget your fire extinguisher, approved helmet (no obvious damage to helmet), standard seat belts okay but must be secure and work properly (not too frayed etc), check your steering wheel play is okay (not too wild). Some gaff tape over your positive battery terminal (if it doesn't already have a cover... another 5 second job)

I'll have some blue tape if you want to put a blue triangle on (battery location) on the day (5 second job).

Tyres can have some wear, but not completely bald (not as strict as rego)

I have a helmet you can borrow if you need.

I'm here, I'm happy to help, so please ask questions if you need.

You won't know what you're missing unless you try it.

Just DO IT!!!

OK, so i tried downloading it now onto my hard drive( the entry form from the home page of sdma), and still no good!

Once i open it, i get a window as mentioned, file is damaged and cannot be repaired, so i dont know what to do next?

I never had any issues with other files opening in the pdf software before... can someone try downloading the entry form again and see if it works for you, is there any other links besides the home page i can try downloading from?

cheers.

    • The average previous owner for these cars were basically S-chassis owners in the US. Teenagers or teenager-adjacent. I often tell people that neglect is easier to fix than something that was actively "repaired" by previous owners.
    • Update 3: Hi all It's been a while. Quite a lot of things happened in the meantime, among other things the car is (almost) back together and ready to be started again. Things that I fixed or changed: Full turbo removal, fitting back the OEM turbo oil hardlines. Had to do quite a bit of research and parts shopping to get every last piece that I need and make it work with the GT2860 turbos, but it does work and is not hard to do. Proves that the previous owner(s) just did not want to. While I was there I set the preload for the wastegates to 0,9bar to hopefully make it easier for the tuner to hit the 370hp I need for the legal inspections that will follow later on. Boost can always go up if necessary. Fitted a AN10 line from the catch can to the intake hose to make the catchcan and hopefully the cam covers a slight vacuum to have less restrictive oil returns from the head and not have mud build up as harshly in the lines and catch can. Removed the entire front interior just shy of the dashboard itself to clean up some of the absolutely horrendous wiring, (hopefully) fix the bumpy tacho and put in LED bulbs while I was there. Also put in bulbs where there was none before, like the airbag one. I also used that chance to remove the LED rpm gauge on the steering column, which was also wired in absolute horror show fashion. Moved the 4in1 Prosport gauge from sitting in front of the OEM oil pressure gauge to the center console vents, I used a 3D printed vent piece to hold that gauge there. The HKB steering wheel boss was likely on incorrectly as I sometimes noticed the indicator reset being uneven for left vs. right. In the meantime also installed an airbag delete resistor, as one should. Installed Cube Speed premium short shifter. Feels pretty nice, hope it'll work great too when I actually get to drive. Also put on a fancy Dragon Ball shift knob, cause why not. My buddy was kind enough to weld the rust hole in the back, it was basically rusted through in the lowermost corner of the passenger side trunk area where the wheel arch, trunk panel and rear quarter all meet. Obviously there is still a lot of crustiness in various areas but as long as it's not rusted out I'll just treat and isolate the corrosion and pretend it's not there. Also had to put down a new ground wire for the rear subframe as the original one was BARELY there. Probably a bit controversial depending on who you ask about this... but I ended up just covering the crack in the side of the engine block, the one above the oil feed, with JB Weld. I used a generous amount and roughed up the whole area with a Dremel before, so I hope this will hold the coolant where it should be for the foreseeable future. Did a cam cover gasket job as the half moons were a bit leaky, and there too one could see the people who worked on this car before me were absolute tools. The same half moons were probably used like 3 times without even cleaning the old RTV off. Dremeled out the inside of the flange where the turbine housing mates onto the exhaust manifolds so the diameter matches, as the OEM exhaust manifolds are even narrower than the turbine housings as we all know. Even if this doesn't do much, I had them out anyways, so can't harm. Ideally one would port-match both the turbo and the manifold to the gasket size but I really didn't feel up to disassembling the turbine housings. Wrapped turbo outlet dumps in heat wrap band. Will do the frontpipe again as well as now the oil leak which promted me to tear apart half the engine in the first place is hopefully fixed. Fitted an ATI super damper to get rid of the worn old harmonic balancer. Surely one of the easiest and most worth to do mods. But torquing that ARP bolt to spec was a bitch without being able to lock the flywheel. Did some minor adjustments in the ECU tables to change some things I didn't like, like the launch control that was ALWAYS active. Treated rusty spots and surface corrosion on places I could get to and on many spots under the car, not pretty or ideal but good enough for now. Removed the N1 rear spats and the carbon surrounding for the tailpipe to put them back on with new adhesive as the old one was lifting in many spots, not pretty. Took out the passenger rear lamp housing... what do you know. Amateur work screwed me again here as they were glued in hard and removing it took a lot of force, so I broke one of the housing bolts off. And when removing the adhesive from the chassis the paint came right off too. Thankfully all the damaged area won't be visible later, but whoever did the very limited bodywork on this car needs to have their limbs chopped off piece by piece.   Quite a list if I do say so myself, but a lot of time was spent just discovering new shit that is wrong with the car and finding a solution or parts to fix it. My last problem that I now have the headache of dealing with is that the exhaust studs on the turbo outlets are M10x1.25 threaded, but the previous owner already put on regular M10 nuts so the threads are... weird. I only found this out the hard way. So now I will just try if I can in any way fit the front pipe regardless, if not I'll have to redo the studs with the turbos installed. Lesson learned for the future: Redo ALL studs you put your hands on, especially if they are old and the previous owners were inept maniacs. Thanks for reading if you did, will update when the engine runs again. Hope nothing breaks or leaks and I can do a test drive.
