Guys, FYI, I tried to have my ARX tuned last week but ended up with no changes.

The car is running quite rich with a 10:1 ratio across the rev range. No wonder she is giving lousy fuel consumption. Attempting to install an Apexi Super AFC Neo failed to improve the performance with the car's computer fighting the Apexi and causing a huge slump in mid range performance. It appears that no one has got the AFC working with the VQ25DET yet.

We are now looking for other options.

Has anyone sucessfully installed an emanage ultimate on these cars?

We also looked at increasing the boost slightly.

Interestingly, a standard car with a good air filter, high flow cat and muffler, she is already boosting at 15 PSI from low revs to mid range. I do not feel comfortable increasing beyond this point.

Drops back to 10PSI in the mid to upper rev range. I think that this is what is causing the unusual performance feel. Takes of reasonably well, but does not provide the rush as the revs increase.

Currently 150 KW at the wheels with a very flat power curve.

Any suggestions?

My thinking is to fix the fuel ratio and see what happens to the boost.

Sydney Kid posted his experience fitting a Jaycar kit of Digital Fuel Adjuster + an Electronic Boost Control on his C34 Stagea. The results seem very good and were fitted very easily with just 6 wires needing to be connected.

Have a read of the thread as this is the direction I am looking to go to improve fuel economy.

Cheers

Haltec are working with the 2004 - 2007 M35's at the moment with the NA 3.5lt. I am also going with them in the next month or so with my car so I will have some results then.....as for the boost I am not game to raise it from standard until it dies.... also I am pretty sure a with a good muck around with the fuel mixtures and timing you should be able to get a good power increase from the Haltec system.

I do believe that there is a company in Sydney which have (and recommend) using the Haltec 350z Platinum as a piggyback for the m35.

The guy I spoke to said that they raised power and the owner is very happy with the new fuel consumption :)

Unfortunately, he did not tell me the numbers that were achieved.

The down side is that the 350z Platinum is a $2000 unit and he quoted me $3500 for the install & tune :) .

Not only that but my car would have had to be shipped as well *OUCH*

I will be going with the Emanage Ulimate soon and will share results when I have them, but would be VERY interested to see your results (if memory serves, a 3" turbo back & a boost controller, yes?).

$3,500? Nah!......I have been talking to them at around $1,200 then Dyno? I'll go and double check what I have been told and post a confirmed price estimate. No way I will be paying $3,500 for a piggyback!

$3,500? Yep! The 350z Platinum is a replacement ECU for (obviously) the 350z. It needs to be used as a piggyback for the m35 to keep the popup screen among other things.

They said that the Interceptor and the E11v2 cannot be used on the m35 for whatever reason.

This is from the email when I was still searching for an exhaust and ECU install.

"Ok, Transport can be between $400 and $500 each way.

Front pipe $500 with cat in 2 1/2 inch, 3 inch with High flow metal cat $800, am waiting on a price for the exhaust, no charge to fit it.

ECU fitted, wired and tuned $3500.

The High flow turbo on the stagea renderers it a little lagy, we can tune around it to some degree but we can run as much boost as you like depending on the results you would like"

Maybe it is just because I am not local... Who knows?

I would be interested to know which ECU they are fitting for $1200. As well as the results you get.

This might give the same results as the Apexi AFC Neo - they both work off the same principle.

I'm wondering if the problem is the side-effects in advanced ignition timing caused by the AFC?

If you can get hold of an SITC then give that a shot (no longer being made - basically does for ignition timing what the AFC does for airflow reading).

Also with boost that high, I'm wondering if that is the reason it runs so rich? From my experience, it tends to run very rich once you increase boost. Most people told me it would run lean (ie. thinking more air = lean) but I think what happens is that the computer senses the increased boost and dumps loads of fuel into the mix to try to protect the engine. So what you end up with is very low AFR's and less performance and increased fuel consumption.

Have you tried getting a cheap boost controller (try a turbotech one - they worked well on the C34's) and lowering the boost a bit? Wondering if that would make the tuning more predictable since it sounds like you're trying to diagnose several things at once there. Limiting boost to 10psi across the board would at least eliminate that from the equation...allowing you to focus on just tuning AFR's / ignition timing.

The unit I am told will work(from a mate at Haltec) is about $700 then you need dyno and install...it's also a piggyback and can only control booste, fuel, timing and o2. The thing that they really need is a workshop manual or the wiring diagram for the M35 with the VQ25DET.

I have the wiring diagram for the G35 that is very close to the M35.

What do you want to know?

    • You can use your VIN to look up the factory part number somewhere like amayama, and then look to order new if necessary. https://www.amayama.com/en/genuine-catalogs/nissan Depending on price you might want to rebuild instead. @GTSBoy I had an interesting insight into US market parts when the Titan rear calipers were sticking. New calipers were dirt cheap, about 20% more than a rebuild kit....they are just considered throw away maintenance items

    • Lots of votes for driving onto a plank first; that is the quickest way I've found, 25mm is enough for my case but that will vary by car It also depends where you are going for. On the 32 I can get to the rear diff with my floor jack if I do that end first, and get it up on stands. Then I lift the front from either front tow hook as high as needed, also onto stands. Sometimes I need a small lift on the other tow hook to get it level enough If I do the front first I can't get to the rear diff because of the angle of the car Other options are getting to the front mount of the rear subframe from in front of the wheel (if only lifting one side, or just do both which is a bit of a pain compared to one lift from the diff), or also the gearbox cross member mount on the driver's side if you are  just trying to lift the driver's side. I This is the jack I use; it says 75mm clearance but of course that is only on the lower section so if you have to reach too far in like the diff you still get stuck. https://www.snapon-bluepoint.com.sg/category/Floor-Jacks/product/Floor-Jack,-2-Ton-Low-Profile

And this is only thing i need? No other "things" connected to the sensor or something? I do have the wiring.
