Hi Guys.

I need some advice to find parts for my new engine.

I got 2 RB30DET engines from Australia, and have searched the internet to find rods, pistons ect., good enough to make more then 800AWHP, Tomie rods and pistons is rated to max. 750, whats better and stronger, i have 2 RB25DET engines, and one of these will be the top on this engine, right now i have a guy and he taking good care of this top, and porte is, the inlet looks fine, but there is a bigger job on the exhaust site.

Setup will be a big single turbo, a GT42R, i have the R34 gearboks, have a guy who will build new axels, he normally build to tractor-pulling :-)

I have a trible HKS clutch.

This will be a everyday car, and for some fun in the weekends at the dragstrip, i know i will get lag, but thats fine.

Car is a Nissan Stagea RS-Four V

Where will my limits be, what to be wear of, don´t know anything about this RB30 bottom, have bouild many 2JZ-GTE and RB25DET engines, but never this one.

Have found a lot treats here, but not with the same goal as i have.

So far i have found:

Cams Tomie Pro 260 in/ex - 10.25. + lifters.

Bearings and gaskets.

Waterpump

Oilpump

What oil pump have you got? I would seriously consider a stroker crank from shanef . Argo or pauter rods, cp or je pistons, all arp fasteners, and much bigger cams than the 260's you have, you will need at least 272's to make 600awkw. Probably would get the rb30 adapter plate/crank girdle from shanef as well, as its the best one on the market.

Have a read of the last page or two of the "poll:stroker kit of choice " thread in this section - I have PM you re going to R.I.P.S for some info and pos parts

Nismo oilpump.

Can you sent me a link to these companys.! (shanef . Argo or pauter )

On the bottom i will use ARP, on the top i will use the originals.

Speak to shanef or spoolup on the forum, both should be able to help you out with the parts. I dont think stock rb25 M11 head bolts will be up to the task, i would say you will have to retap the block to take rb26 M12 ARP head studs(and drill out the head bolt holes in the head to suit)

You'll get alot of conflicting information and alot of the "you can't to this and that" or "don't do this and that" comes from guys who havn't actually pushed motors very far at all.

11mm head studs are fine, we have been to over 900whp with them, done hours and hours on the road and dyno and raced all season getting down to 8.7 @ 162mph with 11mm head studs, a stock 2wd block, stock crank (revved to 9000rpm) stock cradle, stock used mains bolts and no block filler or block braces at all.

Sift through all the information and you'll soon find out what is realistic from guys who have actually done it and what is not so true usually from guys who havn't.

Hi Rob.

Thanks, and i know i will get a lot of informations everywhere, good ones and bad ones, the RB30 is new for me, and i really have searched the net to find information, looking at your page (Nice one), seen videos of cars with R.I.P.S engines, thats for sure powerfull cars, but i am a Home-builder, and thats sometimes give me conflicts, and i pay, thats the same way i will build the RB30, and the reasons i purchased 2 of them, i am willing to pay the "Learn-money".

Many people thinks aggresive cams like 272, 286 is the ones to go for, maybe, that depends on how and where you need your boost, at what rpm ect. i will rater go for 260 with the highest lift, and better valve-springs. I will use the standard crank, dont touch it, find the best h-beams, have heart about a company in Sweden, but cant find them, pistons, rated and tested to more then 800+ hp, i know many people believe what they read on the internet of numbers from the producer, i rater believe in peoples experiense/personally tests. Try to find a company, maybe HKS and see the specs of the cams, are you going for less than 800 hp on a 2JZ-GTE (Supra) engine, HKS advice 264 or lower, more than 800 hp, 272 cams ect.!

Strokerkits, i will never do this, i like the short h-beams, big volume, high rpm. (Look at F1, how they build there engines)

I know Tomie makes some fine pistons, and they rated them to max. 750 hp, i will go for more, better build a engine to 1000 hp, and run with 800.

I have calculated, that i have to make a boost at 1,5 bars, to make 800 hp on this RB30, with a GT42 turbo, and thats my goal.

Learn-money, when i build my red stag, a straight RB25DET, standard cams, h-beams, bearings, gaskets, no-ported, only changed the inlet, and exhaust manifold, injectors, and mounted with a T70 turbo, people keeps telling me, you will never make more than 400-430 hp, today i make 530 hp and 561 tourqe, and have max. Rpm at 8400, 1,45 bars boost, it runs every day like a well oiled machine, goal is 600 hp., i will show them, i make my own ECU, and adjust it myself. (Work on a tuningshop). But before i pay Learn-moneys this time, i will try to use peoples experience, tests ect., from where this engine is made for, only the Australian marked, that’s the reasons for this treat.

“Highest possible flow from air filter, to output of exhaust ~ good adjusted ignition ~ good injectors ~ right among of fuel all the way”

Back to bussines, where can i find the best h-beams and pistons for a RB30 engine.!

Have a nice day.

    • Even with no BOV you will have issues unless the MAF is a hot film type like the R35 which has some design features to deal with reversion. Hot wire MAFs are very sensitive.
    • So i just change the (whatever is inside ma original MAF and slide the R34 MAF (it is gonna fit right in? ) and somewhere on the hot side a BoV...i presume that would be vented to the atmo? I just "trying" to understand...maybe my mechanic would know this   I would not mind(even prefer) to run stock BoV cuz it is way more than fine but i do not have that and only pipeing what is left is oem J pipe ... I will be running Blitz fmic(to fit oem one side style) and i gonna need custom pipes cuz i do not have rest of those pipes and hoses... But i am want standalone ECU. Only choice i have atm is Nistune...but that is not gonna cut it right?I dont know what Nistune can and cant do... I know you guys know Link and Haltech...but whatabout ECUmaster? I know guys in here run those but i literally do not know about that and do not know differences... Just know to take whatever "my" tuner can work on.
    • Is that the blue one rpm?
    • Update 2: Today I'm f**king pissed. Some of you probably saw my thread that I opened shortly after joining this forum, "urgently need expert/experienced opinion", in which I discussed the possibility of a porous RB26 engine block which I also found hard to believe. Currently both turbos are out since the shitty braided line that was installed by whoever fitted the GT28 turbos leaked oil onto the exhaust. Today while working on the cam covers to put new gaskets and half moons in, I cleaned the side of the engine block with brake cleaner. Some time later I saw that it was still glistening with oil or coolant so I dried that off. But it was wet again shortly after. Verdict: I'm royally screwed. What you can see here (hopefully, despite shit resolution), circled in red, is a crack above the turbo oil feed. Extent is a few cm long and basically goes from #3 cylinder wall to #4 cylinder wall. It slowly lets coolant through, even without any pressure behind it. I am absolutely dumbfounded as to how this crack even formed, especially since it isn't along the cylinder as it usually is but rather a horizontal crack. Probably a few cm in length. Not sure on how to deal with this issue right now. Most likely, the only true fix is a new engine block, and even a relatively well done temporary fix requires at least a full engine teardown. Neither of those really fit my timetable right now, the car has been in my buddy's garage long enough as it is. I'm open to suggestions, but I'll be looking into ordering a new 05U block soon so I have one ready for the coming year, or whenever the current block inevitably fails fully. (Most likely once the crack reaches one of the frost plugs) I think it'd be a waste of money and time to rebuild the engine with this block. Oh and I found a rust hole on the side pocket of the trunk, which someone covered up with sealant goop, a piece of number plate and bodywork filler. Fun times. So far for every issue we fix we just find a new one that is arguably worse.
    • I have not found this no. I put one back on a couple days ago with no drama. I agree they are tight, but no need to remove anything.
