Gday crew the time has come for me to wash my filters i have 2 HKS washable pods that are filthy!

Just wondering who else is running them, what you do to clean them and what oil you put on them to keep em sticky?

also is there a down side to these filters like sucking air filter oil into my intake?

Cheers crew you know how it goes any info is appreciated

Cheers

Dion

HKS are one of the best filters around.

I got 2 of them and I use the K&N air filter cleaner kit.

Let it soak for about 10mins then rinse under tap and let it air dry.

Apply a light coat of filter oil and re-insert the filters back on.

Lmfao is that a joke? I got a $40 3A racing pod filter which was proven to have best filtration and flow even above the Apexi. HKS came dead last in filtration. Uselss filter, throw it out.

Razzaamatazz pantyhose is the best filter around. Provides good filtration with mimimal restriction and can double as a condom if you suddently run out.

Find em in the safeway isle for other feminne hygiene products.

LOL! Kris

I had a 3A racing pod, the glue melted off and the filter fell off.

The HKS ones are doing me fine.

yeah dont know if ya supposed to bolt it straight to ya turbo! just kidding.

yeah i read that review ages ago in autosalon and it supprised the hell out of me. i only have the hks ones because they were on me car when i bought it.

pretty sure i am just goin with the stock box with a good panel filter apexi or alike.

any objections?

The HKS Piping looks the greatest - absolutely s*xy!

About 3 reports now, all agree that the HKS sponge filters themselves rate quite poorly for both

i) flow and

ii) filtering efficiency.

Further reports say that if you have AFMs, use a dry filter eg APEXi

If you don't use AFMs (eg whilst running a HKS F-Con Pro-V ECU), you can use a wet filter eg K&N

I use Simota Sponge filters on my HKS Intakes and throw them out, once they get dirty. Discarded my HKS ones.

LOL!

Same, my HKS filters came with the car and been cleaning them ever since.

Pods or standard air box. Doesn't really matter if your car is lightly modded, I say.

If you put the stock box back on, I would just upgrade the filter inside to a high flow one for a peace of mind, but I think the standard filter is still just as good... Up to you...

    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
