We are all here to get the best out of our cars and to get and hopefully share knowledge but after spending some time going through various posts It is obvious that many of the replies are total BS and based on hear-say and opinions instead of actual experience or knowledge.

Come on guys, it's great to be an active forum member but a lot of guys come here for wisdom but get no better advise that the local teen supercheap salesperson can give.

Now I'll get off my soap box and admit that I get more advise here than I could possibly give but I'd rather be of no help that to give bad advise.

Please don't confuse personal opinion for actual fact!

Good call, you have just described 98% of the internet, but you still have much to learn grasshopper.

Yeah guys I knew as soon as I posted it that it was a waste of time but after reading a few posts such as where someone asked what was the best oil to use and getting answers like "use this brand cause it's awesome" or "don't use this brand cause it's crap" It frustrated me as these sort of questions are asked as a technical question and I just think that we as forum members should try to answer in a way that will help the person asking the question.

I know that this is a public forum and we should expect these sort of answers but that still doesn't stop me from hoping for technical answers based on knowledge.

It seems that most of the basics are covered time and again with the same results. The key to getting the right advice is to read alot then maybe PM. I must say that I cant really see the point of this thread ;)

What he said. Figure out who knows their shit on this forum. It's not hard. Look around. Ask again. Have a think about it. Ask for specific examples or personal experience. Ask the questions in the right way.

Why am I writing here.....? :D

Maybe this is a chance to turn this thread into something use full, who's advice do you trust?

Maybe even specify if its a certain area you trust there advice in, some are good with electrics, some are mechanical some are suspension and then you have the gods that know about every nut and bolt on a skyline.

Im going to start the list off with paul33 (or maybe paulr33) for his compiling of the power fc tutorial not to mention all the other tech refference he has compiled.

I'm also curious how you differentiate the people who know nothing and the people who sound like they know what they're talking about but don't.

For example, I read in a clutch thread (for sale) on another forum, someone said the plates had 3.3MM left (originally 3.9 or 4mm), and someone chipped in "I think that's the point before they need a rebuild".

Obviously that's not true but its the internet, you have to accept that some EVERYONE has a right to voice there opinion.

If there the forum was a community of experts they're certainly wouldn't be 1/2 this number of members

There's also the fact that people who start off without much knowledge usually build knowledge over time and often make a contribution.

Anyway, don't think this thread is going to go very far.... :)

That would be by taking advice from someone on a problem you have and using it to fix a problem, or if that advice has helped someone else fix there problem, i was also going to suggest listing the people you dont trust but i dont think the mods would like that so i just went with the people you do trust, of which there are a few that know lots and there are lots that know a little, in the end, as mentioned earlier, its up to you to sort through the ones that actually know what there talking about and the ones that think they do.

    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
