This gets asked a lot, so here they are according to Nissan workshop manuals:

Rb26:

Balancer Bolt - 446-466nm (ouch!)

Flywheel Bolt - 124-152nm

Clutch Bolt - 34-44nm

Rb25:

Balancer Bolt - 142-152

Flywheel Bolt - 124-152nm

Clutch Bolt - 34-44nm

good luck getting 450nm on the RB26 bolt without a tension wrench designed to do wheel studs up on a Euclid 170T dump truck.

I do them 150nm then get a pipe over it for another 1/4 of a turn....never had one come loose.

what about putting some lock tight ova the thred? is this recomended i dont really want a pully popping out to say hello threw my bonnet at 8000rpm

DO NOT put Loctite or any other anerobic compound on them. ARP moly lube only please.

Hey mate,

Its 30mm for a RB26..

Cheers,

Thanks Johno.

You're pretty safe if u torque up the bolt to the above specs, loctite won't hurt, more of an assurance, but sucks to be the next person to rip the bolt out...haha.

(in saying that, some people are quite religious about using loctite)

just looking over this ... the balance bolt should be replaced with every clutch . i've looked at the threads on 25's and 26's and came to the conclusion it was a stretch bolt because it thins out close to head of the bolt. its just good practice . get it the right way first .

+1 I did it that way too before I put my engine in.

Anyone know the thread size for RB Flywheel bolts? Bought my RB20 for $20 and it has been sitting outside for the last 5 years so has some rust/filth in the threads in the crank. Looking go buy a tap to clean them up. Cheers.

    • Sorry to hear your HFM BM57 was faulty,  did you contact HFM I would hope they would be at least grateful for the information if there was some sort of manufacturing fault, you would hope they would be sympathetic even if your item was 2 years old if it had never been fitted. May I ask where it leaked from ?
    • Cats are called Bella, and Donna...  Like that poisonous plant And I remember your 2 monsters, I remember making a little bit of wee when you let them out... LOL I have already installed cat doors into the laundry where their kitty litter is, and the sun room, apart from the cat doors there's not going to be any permanent mounted stuff on the interior walls (interior doors are cheap and easy to replace) I will get a outdoor cat cage thingie once I finish the landscaping out back... https://catnip.com.au/ The only off limit areas are the main bedroom and the gym room....but, currently the cats are curled up in bed, in the main bedroom with the Mrs.....LOL, the off limits for the kittens to the main bedroom lasted about 5 minutes with Jackie I currently only have 1 free standing huge cat tree multiple level scratching post thingie in the lounge room, but, I will be getting another one soon now that I'm happy with the furniture layout in the back room and have a perfect spot for it
    • All of this is making it seem clear that running the Coppermix twin was definitely the way to go, especially in hindsight with how insane tariffs have gotten and the strength of the USD vs yen at the time.
    • That sounds like no chance of even importing one for road registering then Now I see why Duncan wants to check LHD rules for Targa...   I wonder how "bolt in" the AWD would be if you got one imported from the US and swapped it to an AUD one
    • Not to mention they drive like a bucket of bolts! yuck!
