Another good one is the JVC KD-DV9406

http://www.ryda.com.au/JVC-KD-DV9406-Car-D...-p/kddv9406.htm

This one dosn't have the inbuilt screen but will output to you popup screen plus is has the bonus of bluetooth

so will this unit defineately work??

i can get one at a good price

Don't see why not. Other JVC models Stagea owners have used recently automatically convert PAL to NTSC automatically so I see no reason why this one wouldn't.

Good luck with it!

My set up was under $AU1500.

I don't use a very powerful projector, because I need my battery to do other little things like start my car  and the Toshiba TLP-S10 I use is discontinued. A couple of good alternatives are the Epson EMP-S5:

or the Acer XD1160:

(apologies for the nz site)

I picked up my head unit second hand for $AU176, but once again. I'd recommend

As for inverters: A 300W inverter should set you right with one of those smaller projectors. I assume your stag has the 12v outlet in the boot.

So, this one:

With the setup currently, the DVD unit only has an RCA video out lead (but with a small projector you wouldn't expect HDMI anyway) I've run it through the centre console and out under the side. I then fold the back seats down and place the projector on them and then run the RCA into that and I'm away laughing. I am pretty happy with the factory speakers. To my ears they sound quite good.

Hope that helps :)

I stuffed up one thing about the inverter advice I gave you. Don't buy the jaycar standard ones. You need a pure sinewave inverter, and just so you know, it has to be twice the wattage of whatever projector you get.

Sorry about that.

with this you can adjust the tilt and angle of the screen, only thing in use is the climate control, all can still be used.

or push the open/close button, change the degress real quik. and push the open/close button again no big hassle, im real happy with it.

only problem, cup holders, can fit 'v' or readbull can's while open, but nothing else, screen must be down.

run 3 RCA's from the video/audio output on the rear of the headunit, through to the back left of the cargo area. behind the trim next to the storage compartment on the side (under the side window) is the box you need to plug into... There's alot of info on doing it if you searched for it.

i did search, but i couldnt find anything about connecting a dvd head unit to the factory screen. why 3 rca's?? wouldnt u only need the visual cable?? since the head unit is connected directly to the speakers??

ive got a spare kv-dv9406 if anyone wants one. i bought it 4 my mate but now he doesnt want it. PM me

    • Robertson was a Canadian inventor, and it absolutely reigns supreme here. 95% of our screws are Roberston. It's literally the only option you can buy off store shelves. What would it have lost out too? I believe it's also very popular in the US.  My reference to imperial was pointed to both NPT and BSP.
    • No. BSP lost to the cultural/technical imperialism of living next to Trumpistan. Face it, Robertson screws were better and still pretty much lost out to the yank stuff. The Europeans hate the Brits and they don't use NPT. NPT is just as "imperial" as BSP is, being based on those useless inch thingos. Just done differently.
    • I live in Quebec. Our license plate slogan is "Je me souviens" Translated is "We will remember" as a reminder to when England conquered us and that we must never forget what they did. Long story short, BSP is unheard of here due to being an English design. I'm surprised our nazi anti english government office the OQLF hasn't kicked in my door yet just talking about it, yet alone imperial anything.
    • Thanks for that! I did a quick Google search looked up some of hydaulic stores and didn't see it listed on the website, I'll give them a ring. Also found out later that I can buy 2 oem bleeder bolts for 10 bux and come with the washer which I might do so I don't waste the money it costs in petrol to find 2 washers (already did that lol). The old copper washes look in good nick, I drove it after taking it off and putting it back on and didn't see any  Part number here for reference if anyone needs: 14053-42L0A
