haha... well it was a secret to me.. full time operations are over rated... a mate of mine went into it... the shit he went through to make it work... and he still hasnt made it profitable as like you say, the money just isnt around here.. he was better off just doing cashies in his garage. there is a list of tools that a workshop must have, it must be a licenced place for a workshop, and the oh&s crap that comes into it.. not to mention all the book work etc.

its sad isnt it... you hear and read about all these hardcore little workshops and race tracks scattered around japan... hours and hours from nowhere... and with some of the most insane machines and a very tight knit crew.... that will never happen here.. people just dont seem to be that passionate... who wants to travel to scone in the hunter valley to get some work done and have some good fun touge runs... not many i bet.

australians have a more hands on approach... everyone has a mate, or knows a guy, who works on this and can get anything cheaper than anyone is selling it for. and because we have shit rules and shit roads... whats the point in spending money on parts and labour of good quality products when you can get a truck turbo, cut down truck core, and a plane fuel pump and have a stonking amount of power for the price of an ebc unit.

australians just cant match the japanese for car tuning... we are good, but everything they do is spot on.

Ok then, looks like the trips to Sydney for work and tuning will always be the case.

Mark Jacobsen (Godzilla Motorsport) often comes down and tunes my car and others. We use a brand new Mainline 4WD dyno and book in a few cars in a day so flying him down from Brisbane is economical...costs are shared between the group. Works out cheaper than going to Sydney and in my opinion his tunes are safer.

When is our thread getting sticky?

just keep bumping it with spotted's...

spotted a gunmetal grey R32 GTR with "Red R Racing" warpaint...numberplates...BBN-70V...sideways at Thornton today. :P

that warpainted gtr does the rounds... i see it in newy fairly often... gave him a wave but either looks down on my 32 gtst or hes just plain arrogant... he saw me too..

Spotted white R33 [GON33E] plates in charlestown, and then coming home 20 minutes later i spotted another wihte R33 with no front bar.

    • Not really, but the heater box is pretty simple mechanically....if the door is one way the air bypasses the heater core and if it is the other way it goes through it for warm air.  If you are sure the actuator you moved manually is for the heater mix (there would also be one for output air direction) then I'd take the heater box out and see what is happening (you'll have to regass and re-coolant the systems afterwards) BTW pp724 onwards from the GTR workshop manual cover the system in good detail, it is probably worth checking. I think the IAT sensor might be a problem electrically for getting cold (if you got 24 error code not -24 it thinks the incoming air is -50c) and it covers how to test the sensor (although most likely it is either not plugged in or a wire is damaged)
    • Use the GKTech subframe bush and bring your subframe 10mm closer to the chassis. You'll need to fix an exhaust hanger to suit. One of the best mods I've done.
    • You'd really have to pull it apart further to know, it least you can be confident that the one heading to the back is not connected any more. There was once a ground on the shifter seal mount too, your head unit issue could be that simple
    • Perfect, I'll get to it this winter then at the same time as I weld on my anti squat kit.
    • Alright so my 32 only has one temperature no matter what degree you set it to. I’ve tried disconnecting the servo motor arm and moving it either direction and got no change. I’ve fixed the leak in my AC and re charged it and with it on and clutch engaged it still blows hot even though the low pressure pipe going to the firewall is ice cold. Both heater core hoses are hot while running as well. Diagnostic code showed 24 for intake air temperature sensor. Anybody got any ideas?
