anyway update of the cooler, i'm pretty impressed by the performance side of it, and from a distance it looks ok, all i need to do now is mount it on straight and its done,

I didn't need not cut the bar at all to fit it in, but i have a GTR front bar which was orginally designed for a fmic in it.... heres a couple of dodgey pics of it, as i said i need to straighten it up though

have you noticed much lag due to the extra piping? cause i was looking at this kit and wondering how much it would effect lag cause the piping has to run all the way back?

The stealth kit comes with a 600x240x60mm cooler as apposed to a 600x300x76mm one that comes in the conventional style kit (pipes over the engine bay). So wouldn't the smaller cooler core size compensate for any extra piping length???

And btw I just installed a jjr stealth kit on mine too!

just installed mine today.

wrong day to do it cause i had a big night last night and have felt like shit all day.

as mentioned before, the quality isnt the best but it looks pretty good. r33 gtst S1 front bar needs no trimming.

i was thinkn about getn one of these just jap stealth ic pretty soon and probably still will, they look pretty good i recon and the fact u dont ahve to cut holes is the main reason i recon theyd b good :D just wondering though how tom said earlier how there not good for repeated drags serious track cars stuff like that im guessn thats just because of there size? and if the quality of these isnt as good as people have thought they should b what would b a better stealth style fmic? also is there much gain from getn a fmic if atm ive only got 3 inch exhaust n increased the boost to 10 psi? if im goin to do more sooner or later i guess so... good pics by every1 to. catch guys

I have a S2 R33, it came with a AVO Stealth Front Mount (pretty sure its AVO) using stock piping, same as these Just Jap ones. However they needed to remove a very small part from the front bumper. If you are looking at the car from the front, the right hand side pipe that comes off the cooler. So small can only see it when really close up.

Great thing is thats its a black intercooler, so its super stealth. Lots of people ask me "When you going to get a front mount?" which is a great sign for a sleeper look.

not sure of the dimensions of the cooler, looks same size as the Just Jap ones. Not even sure if they still make them, but might be another option for you guys cnsidering the Just jap one.

Found a link to an AVO Intercooler, much more expensive than i thought. Good thing i didnt pay for it!!! Seems a bit smaller though.

the only real drama i found with this cooler was the bottom brackets completely off alignment and a fair bit was cut from the reo bar.

another thing on just jap, i would advise against buying the catco cats. the flanges are shithouse and were warped. had to take it to my mate to chop them off and weld new ones on.

it lets you retain the stock airbox Marcus, as it's a return flow cooler, hence when you pop the bonnet you don't see the crazy piping going everywhere...

although, it is a bit of a misnomer as the core itself will still stand-out... i guess you could say the piping is stealth

I've got one, got leaks with it which make this really bad howling noise :banana: but that's probably my fault because i wanted it to be dead straight, level and parallel to the front of the car and THEN connect the piping after. So there's a few funky angles going where pipes join, and we've replaced some of the clamps with better ones which helped initially but i think it's just pushed the leak somewhere else. Nothing a few better clamps can't fix. Good piece of kit overall

would that be one of the stealth ones by any chance? i'm looking at getting one of these for my car as well.

if it's worth it i'll buy it, so long as it fits well and I don't have to fiddle too much... in any case just give the metal a polish or completely paint it black for uber stealth!

You'll only notice a slight bit of lag compared to your SMIC, since its piping is minimal.

There's no difference in lag between a stealth FMIC and a GT spec FMIC. Some say one set-up may have the slightest improvement over the other but then again, that's debatable.

The main reason you'd buy the stealth set-up is so you don't have to cut any holes into your baby...

and the other most important issue is less heat soak from the radiator....which is why blitz / Arc did it in the first place

    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways. 
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.

    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
