Vu might need to clarify (or i will when i pick up a part from him tomorrow) but i'm pretty sure DT has a lengthy warranty period... for some reason i have 'lifetime' in my head but that could be wrong.

thats a load of crap! coz im a spray painter myself. it all depends on the prep and the finish off the gun.

Load of crap?

A few simple and basic words that even you should understand.

Quality of paint.

Paint alone (no labour) for my engine bay was VERY substantial, but then... i can see my face in it

Add to that prep work, obviously more/better prep work results in a better overall result

Dropped by DT today, they certainly do warranty and very well, getting it repaired either next week or the week after (due to cruise )

How longs the warranty just took mine in today, midnight purple respray

hope you took some before shots ! :D

would love to see the before and after product

Yeah ill post them up as soon as i get it back, should be on the 10th or somewhere around that, a new kit is going on as well so should be mint. :ninja:

Just wondering had anything thing been done with? Going in there tomorrow to drop off a s2 spoiler, but just curious.

  • 4 weeks later...
if you want all the panels to match up then do the whole car...

why do some shops ask 10k+ for a paintjob?

dont matter how good a job they do unless they dip your car in gold or something its just way too much

$10k for a respray is about right if you want it done right and show condition.

i dont think you understand what a propper respray is, full strip removing everything inc engine, fully rubbing back and prep work takes weeks to be done right. my father owns a crash shop and 12 years ago he painted a show car now that cost the guy $8k then for the job and it won best paint 8 years running and last year had a freahup and that cost him $5k after a few blemishs had popped now its back winning best paint again.

a cheap 1500 job is just a tape up and scuff and spray dont expect the paint to be there in a few years.

also the cost of paint cheap stuff about 200-400 to paint (protech)

decent paint ya look at about 1200 just in materials (ppg) then add in any pearl $$

As i mentioned about a month I would put some before and after pics up of DT panels work on my car. Pics are very average quality.

In my opinion DT panels do a good job for the price which was $3300 ($2500-basic repspray+$500-door jams+$300-front a rear windows removed).

Good points:

+ Great paint job, looks really good

+ Price

+ Vu is very friendly and easy to deal with

+ Free screwdriver (left in boot)

Bad points:

- Didn't put the door back on properly

- Broke my indicator bulbs (cost $4 to replace)

- Time (4 weeks+, I have heard this is not the case with everyone)

- Slight over-spray (are going to fix it at their expense)

- Pretty sure they stuffed the LED brake light on the spoiler

But overall I would definitely recommend them.

5 simple steps for purchasing goods and services

1. Choose a few shops. Call.

2. Have a good chat, get a feel of how they do business, etc..ask questions..

3. Get some quotes.

4. Cant decide to do whole car or body kit only? Repeat step 3. Then go to 5.

5. Make a decision!

    • Before starting any work, we attempted to adjust the tune. However even after adjusting it to certain extremes like completely stopping fuel, it had no effect. What fixed it was removing the Nistune Board and installing the original EPROM instead. This immediately fixed the issue. Everything should have been fine with the Nistune Board installation, so I am unsure why it has caused a problem. The soldered connector is also properly soldered. This worked when I first got the 550cc injectors, before cleaning, but that may have been a coincidence.  We ended up not installing the fuel pump hanger (at least for now). So currently running stock injectors, stock fuel pump, stock fuel pump hanger – Well everything stock except the exhaust. Now I have around €1400 in Nistune, Injectors, and Hanger collecting dust for the time being, perhaps I'll install them in the future. For now I'll enjoy the car as is 😁 Thanks a lot for all your assistance, I really appreciate all the help you have given me.
    • The turbo can’t be the issue. They’re proven to make much much power than you’re making. There is something in the setup that isn’t correct. - has the exhaust got any silly step downs? - what exhaust manifold?
    • Ok, just the way you wrote it made it look like you had the stagger the wrong way around
    • I was getting anxious with the DVLA not knowing if the paperwork is fine or not, so I rang them. No update had been given, but I  was reassured that providing the box was ticked on the V750 then the application will go through fine. I've been checking the DVLA website pretty much every day, in the hope that it would have been done. Fast forward to Monday 29th  and I was greeted with a new screen on the check, and it finally showed as Taxed and MOT'd, woohoo! The car was in desperate need of a clean, not knowing when this day was coming it was put off. As far as I was concerned I had another 3 weeks  I'm not normally one for using snow foam, but I wanted to give it another try It hasn't cleaned up too bad considering it's 21 years old and lived on a boat for a number of weeks. The personalised number plate is J2 XBK, an illegally spaced number plate would have it read J2X BK. BK could either represent  the colour black or Baker, which is my surname. I filmed the first drive, the Youtube link will be at the end. I used the same driving route I did with the 323F V6 when I had a new exhaust installed, heres a couple of photos A few more since then Youtube video can be viewed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TjkFHPzjGDw
