How To Stop Brake Dust!

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

i dont know about your car's though mine was suffering from major brake dust to the front wheels, i would polish them one day, and 2 days later BRAKE DUST!!

Well a few weeks ago i started using the auto glym alloy wheel seal..... i thought to myself most likely wouldnt work.... just more bullcrap from the shelf..

Believe it or not... IT WORKS!!! no more brake dust builds up on my wheels...!! its abit pricey $20 for the bottle... but worth the money!

http://www.vektools.com.au/autoglym-alloy-...eal-p-3027.html

here is a link to a shop who sells it... i bought my bottle from Repco...

honestly this stuff works! it takes about 3 to 4 weeks before i get a slight dust build....and thats a slight dust build which i cn hardly see....

its a spray that you spray onto your alloy wheel.. and you simply polish it off with a rag....

perfect for all types of alloy wheels... Auto glym is not classified as a cheap product so yes it will be fine with those expensive jap wheels!

+ 1 fantastic stuff; used it on my beema as they have terrible brake dust issues.

basically i removed each wheel one at a time and washed them thoughly (inside and out) with dishwashing detergent.

Dried the wheel and sprayed a nice liberal coat on....waited 30mins and applied a second coat before putting the wheel back on the car.

Process was repeated with other wheels; basically a high pressure hose at the local carwash would remove most of the brakedust and every now and then i would give my wheels a wash with car shampoo.....no need to scrub as the dust just comes off.

I've been using a wheel wax.

I will give giving this stuff a go. A spray would be much easier to use than having to wax on, wax off.

Tried NON acidic wheel cleaner? Spray on, leave it on for a few minutes, and hose off. Sparkeles the wheels, cleans off any crap build up. But you still should use a 2nd sponge to take off remaining residue. Then I would suggest applying this brake dust repellent product.

Yeah, I keep some Meguiars non acid wheel cleaner in the car, which I use whenever I go to Carlovers.

Its still not as good as treating it with wax, and then using the wheel cleaner. I just hate waxing it.

    • Just checking; you are buying an aftermarket headlight for your V35, and the new headlight comes with a daylight running light that you want to wire in? You have the option of just not wiring the DRL in, and the new headlight will work like the old. If you want the DRL to work you will have to wire it in on the car as it wasn't delivered with one. Best way is to add a Normally Closed or Changeover relay in the car, and wire: 87a to both DRL power wires 30 to a fused ignition power source 86 to earth 85 tap into the power wire that goes to the low beam headlight Note, you cannot use the much more common Normally Open relay for this, you need the DRL to turn off when the headlight is on and vice versa.

    • Hey Kaz, Unfortunately I am not at home currently and wont be for a few more months so I do not have access to my files or CAD. And at this point I prefer to keep the files to myself as I want to potentially make a few more pairs and see if they will sell within the EU before openly marketing them. But the way it's shaped and how small it is, I don't think you can fit both an indicator and a fog light onto the same surround, unless they were very small LED-type clusters.
    • I’ve just installed a Uniclutch sport into my R32. I’ve been blown away by it… it drives like a stock Toyota Corolla. It doesn’t make sense to me that a performance clutch can drive this well. I was about to pull the trigger on a Nismo Coppermix twin plate when I discovered the Uniclutch and decided to give that a shot instead. They’ve changed the game and I couldn’t be happier.    I was previously using an Extreme cushioned button clutch with lightened flywheel. I’m still using the same lightened flywheel with the Uniclutch.
    • Mmmm no, that's a white series 2 R33 GTS-t
