Why does everyone come down on this guy. Things like this make me change my mind about becoming a cop because you get so many people that look down on you and its very similar to us i mean one dick buys a skyline and thrashes it crashes with no experiences it looks bad on us and in the same way we get pulled over and we get some ass hole cop who rips us a new hole and we change our perspective of them but i have alot of cops who are family friends and relatives there average ppl and you don't need to be a cop to be a dick hes doing his job.

Only exception is a ticket inspector hahaha im sure even cops hate them :(

As I have said before, there are arsehole cops, no doubting that, these cops have attitudes, think they are god's gift, and will go over you like a mofo to pick everything, but guess what, you had to have done something to catch the attention of the cop in the first place (step back, look at the car, was it the skirts, the tires that vanish under the guards, the massive ricer wing you have on your boot, or the smoke blowing out of your exhaust??).

There are also good cops, they will pull you over for an RBT, run your licence, and if there is no issues, off you go, even though your sitting there with a 5" cannon that is clearly not quietening a straight through non-cat exahsut system on a straight 6 twin turbocharged car.

I have had both types of cops, from the ones pulling me over because the car caught their eye so they thought they would go to town on me, through to cops that haven't given a shit and left me alone.

The last 3 cars have been imported turboharged cars, and I have only been pulled over twice (combined) in these cars.

99% of the time, it's not the cop, but that 1% of the time, you probably didn't help the cop to not notice you.

B.

Look, at the end of the day whether youre a cop or not, everyone has a job to do. Everyone has rules to adhere to.

Then one day you get busted and think all cops are (unts because you got caught?

Well guess what, bad f**king luck. Be a dickhead on the road and face the consequences for f**ks sake.

I can understand people thinking he's on here to claim bragging rights because he impounded a car but if you read clearly he wanted to learn the process of doing it and never had an opportunity to. The opportunity arose and he took it. Get over it.

My rant...

Graheme did you ever have any experinece confiscating cars before this new legislation was brought into effect. Specifically the provision allowing vehicles to be confiscated if used when committing a serious indictable offense?

TBH I have wanted to impound a vehicle so I can learn/know what I am doing in future. <snip>

I have tried a couple of times before to impound for cars doing burnout and going sideways around corner but the S/SGT's on duty wouldn't authorise them.

Good on you Graeme for taking this idiot off the street temporarily! For all we know, one more life saved..?

I'm not quite comfortable with your motives when it comes to wanting to impound a vehicle for the sake of education... by the law you may have been able to impound the vehicles, but dont let self improvement or gratification sway your decision when it comes to charging someone with a fairly serious offence.. I'm sure you understand what i'm getting at. As much as fools deserve to be punished, dont abuse your discretion :O

lol, i think this copper is slightly retarded, what sort of copper goes "huh, i just impounded someones car today, im feeling pretty good about it, im gonna go brag to the boiz at sau, cos there so awsome and maybe ill get a self esteem boost" ................................................................................

........................................

srsly what in the name of high school football?! its a fake i reckonz, and not a copper, a 16 year old tubby who quit his job at taco bills because they teased him so.

so, do coppers have forums where i can brag about what ive done?

eh.. ive had my winge, please continue

PS, this guy is a complete and utter DOUCHE

(Define Douche: a small syringe with detachable nozzles; used for vaginal lavage and enemas)

ugh..grow up mate.

I don't see how he's abused any discretionary power....It's not like this was a marginal offence.

All he's said is that he's been waiting for someone to impound so that he could learn the process, and this guy clearly deserved it...It's not as if he's gone out of his way to impound someone just for the sake of experience.

Agreed. Although I wasnt referring to the idiot driving in the construction zone. I was referring to the 'other' cars whom he tried to impound but his seniors didnt think it was a big enough offence to follow through with it. By law they could have, but his superior thought that it was better not to impond the cars. They have more experience than him so are usually making the better decision. Had the s/sgt not have been there, someone's car may have been impounded by a rookie just 'wanting to see what it was like'! I want it to be clear that I'm NOT talking about the guy who's car he DID impound. He well deserved it!

I can't believe someone almost got a ticket for gearing down to slow their car, I'd be stuffed everyday in my Kenworth for using the engine brake to slow me up. Especially with the 620 Cummins :O

Good job on the roller, glad it wasn't a liner :)

The guy who ran into the back of me was speeding and had a suspended licence and not wearing his seat belt too, he nearly killed himself which was really scary for me.

    • Update 3: Hi all It's been a while. Quite a lot of things happened in the meantime, among other things the car is (almost) back together and ready to be started again. Things that I fixed or changed: Full turbo removal, fitting back the OEM turbo oil hardlines. Had to do quite a bit of research and parts shopping to get every last piece that I need and make it work with the GT2860 turbos, but it does work and is not hard to do. Proves that the previous owner(s) just did not want to. While I was there I set the preload for the wastegates to 0,9bar to hopefully make it easier for the tuner to hit the 370hp I need for the legal inspections that will follow later on. Boost can always go up if necessary. Fitted a AN10 line from the catch can to the intake hose to make the catchcan and hopefully the cam covers a slight vacuum to have less restrictive oil returns from the head and not have mud build up as harshly in the lines and catch can. Removed the entire front interior just shy of the dashboard itself to clean up some of the absolutely horrendous wiring, (hopefully) fix the bumpy tacho and put in LED bulbs while I was there. Also put in bulbs where there was none before, like the airbag one. I also used that chance to remove the LED rpm gauge on the steering column, which was also wired in absolute horror show fashion. Moved the 4in1 Prosport gauge from sitting in front of the OEM oil pressure gauge to the center console vents, I used a 3D printed vent piece to hold that gauge there. The HKB steering wheel boss was likely on incorrectly as I sometimes noticed the indicator reset being uneven for left vs. right. In the meantime also installed an airbag delete resistor, as one should. Installed Cube Speed premium short shifter. Feels pretty nice, hope it'll work great too when I actually get to drive. Also put on a fancy Dragon Ball shift knob, cause why not. My buddy was kind enough to weld the rust hole in the back, it was basically rusted through in the lowermost corner of the passenger side trunk area where the wheel arch, trunk panel and rear quarter all meet. Obviously there is still a lot of crustiness in various areas but as long as it's not rusted out I'll just treat and isolate the corrosion and pretend it's not there. Also had to put down a new ground wire for the rear subframe as the original one was BARELY there. Probably a bit controversial depending on who you ask about this... but I ended up just covering the crack in the side of the engine block, the one above the oil feed, with JB Weld. I used a generous amount and roughed up the whole area with a Dremel before, so I hope this will hold the coolant where it should be for the foreseeable future. Did a cam cover gasket job as the half moons were a bit leaky, and there too one could see the people who worked on this car before me were absolute tools. The same half moons were probably used like 3 times without even cleaning the old RTV off. Dremeled out the inside of the flange where the turbine housing mates onto the exhaust manifolds so the diameter matches, as the OEM exhaust manifolds are even narrower than the turbine housings as we all know. Even if this doesn't do much, I had them out anyways, so can't harm. Ideally one would port-match both the turbo and the manifold to the gasket size but I really didn't feel up to disassembling the turbine housings. Wrapped turbo outlet dumps in heat wrap band. Will do the frontpipe again as well as now the oil leak which promted me to tear apart half the engine in the first place is hopefully fixed. Fitted an ATI super damper to get rid of the worn old harmonic balancer. Surely one of the easiest and most worth to do mods. But torquing that ARP bolt to spec was a bitch without being able to lock the flywheel. Did some minor adjustments in the ECU tables to change some things I didn't like, like the launch control that was ALWAYS active. Treated rusty spots and surface corrosion on places I could get to and on many spots under the car, not pretty or ideal but good enough for now. Removed the N1 rear spats and the carbon surrounding for the tailpipe to put them back on with new adhesive as the old one was lifting in many spots, not pretty. Took out the passenger rear lamp housing... what do you know. Amateur work screwed me again here as they were glued in hard and removing it took a lot of force, so I broke one of the housing bolts off. And when removing the adhesive from the chassis the paint came right off too. Thankfully all the damaged area won't be visible later, but whoever did the very limited bodywork on this car needs to have their limbs chopped off piece by piece.   Quite a list if I do say so myself, but a lot of time was spent just discovering new shit that is wrong with the car and finding a solution or parts to fix it. My last problem that I now have the headache of dealing with is that the exhaust studs on the turbo outlets are M10x1.25 threaded, but the previous owner already put on regular M10 nuts so the threads are... weird. I only found this out the hard way. So now I will just try if I can in any way fit the front pipe regardless, if not I'll have to redo the studs with the turbos installed. Lesson learned for the future: Redo ALL studs you put your hands on, especially if they are old and the previous owners were inept maniacs. Thanks for reading if you did, will update when the engine runs again. Hope nothing breaks or leaks and I can do a test drive.
    • No those pads are DBA too  but they have colors too. I look at the and imo the green "street" are the best.
    • I’m not sure what happened I told them about sonic tunes free OTS tune and the next the I know .. I was booted..   To funny
    • Yea - I mean I've seen my fuel pump which is decades old and uh, while I'm not saying this with real knowledge... but I sure get the ick at using anything in the fuel system that produced the state of that pump. Many years ago I went through multiple pumps (and strainers) before I dropped the tank to clean it out with extreme violence. I'm talking the car would do maybe 50km before coming to a halt, which resulted in me cleaning out the filter with some brake cleaner and going on my way. None of my stuff ever looked like what came out of your fuel tank. I don't think I'd be happy with it unless every single component was replaced (or at least checked/cleaned/confirmed to be clean here).
