Tyre Sizes??

G'day fellas.

Just a question... Got 17" by 8" wheels and need to know if a set of 215/40's will fit on the wheels? Got 235/45's atm.

yes they do fit.

i had them on my wheels, also 17x8, and was told on a couple of times that it is the incorrect size

so i changed to 235/45

very skinny! won't be good if you come anywhere near a gutter .. sometimes its useful just to have wide tyres that stick out a bit more than the rim. If they are too narrow its possible they could slip off the rim

It will be a stretch to make them fit.

Get hold of a manufacturer's tech sheet - u know, the product list. It should have a spec sheet that lists the optimum wheel width for each tyre size.

eg, a 235 tyre is probably designed for a 7.5" - 9" wheel.

I have 256/17 on with 17/8 at the front and 17/9 at the back. They fit good but like predator said gutters = scraped rims. I would get something even a bit wider maybe, just to protect the rims.
