meh, its bound to happen sooner or later!!!

what really shits me.

new gasket, labour =50

captain thread to take out snapped stud=90

coolant to top up=15

realising the turbo gasket wasnt even the problem, and paying simon 200 bucks to find it = mega fail!!!

a $15 elbow intercooler pipe ended up costing me $370!!!!!

ffs ;)

$450 (inc Labour) to change Timing belt (genuine), Water pump, Coolant, Oil, Oil Filter, Plugs, General check over, whatever else you want doing..

Woo hoo! Whatever else! Nice. Okay, Ryan, included in the $450 I want a OS Giken 3.0L built, I'll have a HKS T51 SPL fitted... and I want you to give the car a wash and polish... with your tongue.

There's a couple of reasons.. Firstly, working on cars so much made me loose the thrill of working on my own car, which is why i got my car in the first place...the hobby was killed. I love cars and it killed it for me. And secondly, too many people didn't realise i was in it to help people out. Getting bagged for not being as reliable as a workshop even tho i was there to save ppl money and time in the first place. I'm not a workshop, i do have a 45 hour job during the week and a social life.

Don't get me wrong, most of the people were more than greatful for some of the work i had done but there's a percentage of ppl that just ripped the satisfaction right out from under me when too much was expected from just one dude trying to help save a dollar or hundreds.

Craig, be more than happy to help you in the future..even for a couple of brews and a shit talk. :P

That's fair enough too Ryan, I often thought to myself that you took a lot of shit on and it would become more of a hassle ( not knocking you just an observation :P )

Sad part is there's a lot of people out there just looking to use others to get what they want, sadly it seems you met some of them :)

    • I know people cry at the price of the Getrag 12-14k for a conversion now, but it really is a nice mid point. Not going to get change from 10k on a gearset installed.  $30k++ for sequential.   I know you run the risk of a damaged used one and parts are hard to get but as a street car gearbox its really hard to beat. If you enjoy a more traditional manual, its the choice no question.
