Im readily aproaching the day whence I get my first car, hopefully a 1993 R33.

In order to get this magnificent first car though, the olds have requested some information, which I shall list as questions below.

1: What is a "Compliance Plate" and how much does it cost to be installed?

2: How much is Registration?

3: How much is a green slip?

4: Insurance - I personally want to get pay-by-the-month insurance, so where is the best place to get insurance, and how much are you paying?

5: How many Litres per 100km?

The car Im looking at can be found by clicking here.

I need to know more specifically, how much all of this would cost? so how about some simple totals? Thanks very much Guys and Girls, this will be a big help!! :) :)

1: What is a "Compliance Plate" and how much does it cost to be installed?

It's a little bit of metal that gets riveted onto the firewall, to say that the car meets Australian safety standards.

RWC supplied, immaculate condition, plus compliance cost.

OK, I'm confused.

One would assume that in order for the car to be roadworthy, that it would already be complianced.

Especially considering the fact that compliance involves structural elements, and things like seatbelts etc.

This being the case, how can the say " RWC supplied, plus compliance cost."

2: How much is Registration?

In Victoria, the amount you pay for registration depends on which area you live in.

The further away from civilisation you live, the cheaper the car is to register.

But expect to pay around $500

4: Insurance - I personally want to get pay-by-the-month insurance, so where is the best place to get insurance, and how much are you paying?

As far as insuring a turbo car while you're on P plates, you might run into a few problems.

It's worth making the effort to call a few insurance companies and talk to them first hand.

(You should seriously consider doing this before you buy the car.:)

Considering its ur first car and from that Ad you posted

that the car is turbo some insurance wont even bother and those that do, insurance will be fairly high.

Plus if the car is in australia i assume it would be complianced already.

Of course registration would be added on to the cost of the car plus stamp duty etc etc

Yeah I thought so Chaos. I found another one, which looks a little better than the first, and Ive asked this seller some questions. heres a picture of it:

Midnight blue, non-turbo (I think), Automatic, GTS-T.

Looks good to me, only problem is its more expensive, Im looking for a skyline, plus insurance, plus all the included costs under 15k's. :blah:

Suncorp do pay-by-the-month...I'm with them. Pay by the month is awesome, I get it automatically taken out of my bank account, and to be honest i hardly even notice it - better than getting a huge bill once a year :(

If you're buying a car already in Australia, you shouldn't need to worry about compliance plates - it should already have them.

Registration depends...it's different in each state so i can't really answer for what the rules are in NSW. I would allow $1000...because as well as rego, you will have to pay stamp duty when you put in in your name.

How many Litres per 100km? Heh...well it's a performance turbo car :D don't expect this to be good. I have nfi what I get...

1: What is a "Compliance Plate" and how much does it cost to be installed?

I think that was answered already, if the car is registered this has already been done

2: How much is Registration?

Same as for any other car in the state, about $350 in NSW for a private use car

3: How much is a green slip?

This can vary a bit depending on car and age, about $500

4: Insurance - I personally want to get pay-by-the-month insurance, so where is the best place to get insurance, and how much are you paying?

Check out this thread for a great insurer that does pay by the month http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...&threadid=18667

5: How many Litres per 100km?

Terrible :D

Also a top fun car to drive.

There's also been a few threads round re "Should I buy a skyline as a first car" check them out......

Compliance is costing me $3850 + tyres which is pretty good under the new import scheme. This includes a safety certificate that I believe is the QLD equivalent of the green slip.

Rego costs me $700 incl stamp duty for 1 year.

Insurance is going to cost me $1285 going thru a broker but Im 28 with no accidents try these guys anyway http://www.gng.com.au/

    • CTIS (Central Tire Inflation System) has existed since the 80's. I'm looking into buying a Hummer H1 and they generally included it.
    • My idle is set at 950rpm though - Moving the timing around 20 degrees is not really what I'd call a calm idle. That said... neither is chop, by definition. The LS ECU likes to adjust timing to hold idle as opposed to air. It'd work, but generally speaking there'd be a discrepancy in the base idle and the IACV would want to move the timing around anyway to maintain said idle. I think I'm just going to keep the timing steady anyway. Preserve my engine mounts.  My aircon is now officially regassed. As the guy was reversing I noticed my reverse lights do not operate, along with my reverse cam. This is a bit distressing, because 100% of guides talk about which wire to connect to backup cams as "the goes with the [other color] wire". Often when doing conversions. Unfortunately the R34 colour wires aren't documented Unfortunately I had a T56 Magnum gearbox with it's reverse switch, which also isn't documented. Unfortunately there's definitely not documentation for people with both of these in the one car. Unfortunately I forgot. After many hours of this, I have a reverse cam and reverse lights again. The wire going through the trans tunnel to the reverse switch had broken. Upon inspection, it looks like this one wire had about 7 spade terminals and extensions in it.. for reasons I cannot possibly comprehend. I also spent the 750 hours required to clean up the wiring behind my head unit which now looks like this: This is a monumental improvement relative to what used to be there WRT triple gauges, head unit, traction control, wideband controller, and whatever the f**k OEM stuff still exists there in various states of connectivity/needed. Next step is to check in at the Exhaust shop to see/confirm how much clearance I have, to decide what mid mufflers or 'resonators' (which are just straight through, narrower mufflers) I can add and hopefully cut out a lot of exhaust leaks, pinhole, v-band or otherwise. But first step will be to 'take a look' before the next step.
    • Fark the AFM card and Nistune, Haltech Nexus S3, DBW, cruise control, flex fuel, dis dat.
    • It's most likely the bolt/bush where the cover bolts back wore and allowed cover to move forward.
    • Still haven't put the injectors and R35 AFM in so we can tune the bloody thing for the HG highflow it got mid last year! I think I can forecast the upgrade path to a bigger twin scroll, external gate, Haltech, flex setup, Samsonas, dis dat, etc will be .... a while away!
