fandango, rest

I do agree with Mid life Crisis:

Can't afford the insurance - you can't afford the Car!

Hopefully we have all learn from your accident

It is lucky that he was uninsured as I'm sure if he was he would be chasing you!!

Also if you are going to take legal action - I'd stop posting any details on a public forum.

Bad luck, but good luck looking for a shell.

nah it woudln't be to hard...take them both out...probs do some work to the 25 before it went in to make it a bit more worth it...drop it in...i think id need a new tailshaft, rewire engine, probs reorganise front mount piping a bit, and yeah...

probs more...im sure mick would know. maybe i can pay him to do it haha :nyaanyaa:

I reckon I could get the conversion done in one weekend (using stock gearbox). That's what I did, not quite one weekend because I had a modified loom (that was a nightmare). All the RB20 stuff lines up, so it is not necessary to change anything.

Don't bother doing work to the 25, it'll just break quicker. Keep it stock until your ready to do an RB25/30.

Regarding pricing, I would think it's worth around 4-5k as is, more if you have it in pieces.

- RB25DET, $1000 to $2000 (more around the $2000 mark).

- RB25 Gearbox $1000 to $1500 (I don't think it's worth this much, around $700 is what I would be happy to pay for it).

- Plus the rest of the stuff, diff/interior/etc

Also, I would recommend removing this thread or talk about the accident until after all the legal stuff is sorted!

can i ask how you lost controll in the first place ? i think you might find been sideways blocking a lane is a little diffrent from been rear ended . seek legal advice i would also like to know to answer to this one . you say the other driver wasent driving to conditions .

but at least he was facing the right direction. the fact you lost control suggest that you wernt driving to the condions either .

im sure he doesnt need another 'dad' telling him what he did was wrong...

i wasent telling him what he did was wrong i was trying to get a understanding of how he lost control if you bothered to read all my post

Gus - Sorry mate but Im preoccupied with fixing my own car at the moment, I wont have time to concentrate on doing another R32 RB25 conversion for a while.

Stinkypoo - I have an RB25 that has been pushing 240rwkw for almost 3 years and it hasnt popped yet... Im planning on getting even more power out of it. Reliability depends heavily on how high quality the parts you use are and how good your tune is.

you know, if do an RB30 twincam and use an RB25DE head from an R32 your loom wont need to be replaced.

r32 rb25de head doesn't have VCT either. Although Gus if you were buying an engine, swapping it ec, putting something like a vipec in, I wouldn't expect much change from 5000$ to get all that done, even if you do it yourself.

Yeh, my rb25 (supposedly) has been putting out 236rwkw for over 1 year. I've only had it for a few months, but from what alot of people has said, they're not an overly strong engine. When it does blow, I'm doing the RB25/30 conversion straight away.

    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
