Oh another question can a kill switch work with turbo timer? sorry all newbie to all this... :) thnk peepz

As the engine is still idling due to the turbo timer you cant flick the kill sw on then thats my thinking? can someone tell me others? :worship:

Forget the turbo Timer and use your head instead.

Do you HAVE to drive on full boost for some time and then immeadiately stop and walk away from your car??

Its a gimick that you can save money on not buying, by driving your turbo car sensibly.

Of course if you just want it for the wank factor, go right ahead...

iw as gonna get a turbo timer but decided its not needed. even if you do drive you car hard by the time you reach your destination pull into the driveway or parking spot you can turn your car off straight away. or for a piece of mind let it idle for 30seconds or so.

you dont need a turbo timer

I Have an HKS Turbo timer on my GTR, which I can still use the standard key start. It has a kill switch with the hand brake, so when the hand brake is released the motor cuts regardless of time left. This turbo timer is wired into the starter harness of the car. I got mine professionally installed at the same time as installing a mongoose alarm system, which has a 3 point immoboliser. The immoboliser cuts in once the turbo timer has stopped for ignition only, so I can lock the car have 2 points active and the 3rd activates after turbo timer finished which is fuel pump.

This is all from memory as I have had this done about 3 years ago.

Interesting...

Getting mix reaction from all. Turbotimer is a wank factor? really? I thought it was meant to help reduce the damage and wear out of the turbo. As you probably read everywhere the purpose of the engine idling after parking is to keep the oil lubricating thru, so the turbo doesnt wearout due to extreme heat. lol thats off the top of my head from memory but I culd b totally wrong, thats my assumption anyways, as i am new to all this, i am taking all advice onboard. thanks :)

Turbo Timer is designed to allow your car to idle (Keep the car on) when you remove the key from the ignition.

As the car idles, it gives time for the oil inside your turbo(s) to cool down to a 'Safe' temprature so then you should switch off your car.

After a period of driving when a turbocharger has been working hard, it is important to let the engine run at idle speed for a period of time, allowing the compressor assembly to cool from the lower gas temperatures in both the exhaust and intake tracts.

At the same time the lubricating oil from the engine is able to circulate properly so the turbine won't burn the lubricating oil that would otherwise be trapped within the charger with the turbine rotating at high speed. With regard to modern automotive turbochargers, the need for a turbo timer can be eliminated by simply ensuring the car does not produce any 'boost' (during driving) for several minutes prior to the ignition being shut off.

I have a Blitz one installed and the functions on it are the Timer and Battery Voltage Metre thats it. Saves me from sitting and waiting and guessing how long its been cooling down for.

dont need one...

the only reason i use mine is because i can NEVER remember to put the damn windows up before turn the car off... srsly

mine is an hks, its like 400 years old and came in the car from japland.

it uses the standard harness,, has a kill function, and works with my 3 point immobilizer and remote start.

Nice Turbo Timer tho- I reckon u should get one :P but to get it installed will be another expense on the top...but yeah u do need a turbo time if u driving a turbo car...just avoids the hassale of beig sitting in the car and waiting for it to shut it down...

Also try look around for the big names one as well, HKS,APEXI,BLITZ etc etc...

A few things to note about turbo timers...

1. It is illegal to leave a car running when you are not with it.

2. They are helpfull because you can set the time you want and turn the key of and know you don't need to watch ur clock.

3. On the r34 u can get a plug and play harness for them 2 min install

Last of all this is what nissan says in there R34 owners manual. (Word for word) :thumbsup:

After driving at high speed or on slopes it is advised to cool your engine down a little before turning off.

1. Normal driving - - - No Idle Time

----- Approx 80 km/h ------ Idel approx 20sec

2. High speed driving

----- Approx 100 km/h ------ Idel aprox 1 min

3 Hills, slopes at over 100km/h ----------- Idel Approx 2 min

NOTE: this would Change depending on your car setup and mods. The above is from nissan on a stock car.

lol funny enough joeyjoejoejunior we don't have that problem with the windows on the R34 because the windows still work until the drivers door is shut after the key is removed..

    • Which solenoid? Why was it changed? Again, why was this done? ...well, these wear..but ultimately, why was it changed? Did you reset the idle voltage level after fitment? I'm just a tad confused ~ the flash code doesn't allude to these items being faulty, so in my mind the only reason to change these things, would be some drive-ability issue....and if that's the case, what was the problem? Those questions aside, check if the dropping resistor is OK ...should be 11~14 ohms (TCU doesn't throw a flash code for this) ~ also, these TCU designs have full time power (to keep fault code RAM alive), and I think that'll throw a logic code (as opposed to the 10 hardware codes), if that power is missing (or the ram has gone bad in the TCU, which you can check..but that's another story here perhaps).
    • Question for people who "know stuff" I am looking at doing the new intake like the one in the picture (the pictured is designed for the OEM TB and intake plenum), this design has the filter behind the front bar, but, the filter sits where the OEM duct heads into the front bar, and the standard aperture when the OEM ducting is removed allows the filter to pulled back out of the front bar into the engine bay for servicing, a simple blanking plate is used to seal the aperture behind the filter This will require a 45° silicone hose from the TB, like the alloy pipe that is currently there, to another 45° silicone hose to get a straight run to the aperture in the front bar Question: how will it effect the tune if I move the MAF about 100-150mm forward, the red is around where my MAF is currently, and the green would be where it would end up Like this This is the hole the filter goes through  Ends up like this LOL..Cheers    
    • Despite the level up question, actually I do know what that is....it is a pressure sender wire.  So check out around the oil filter for an oil pressure sender, or maybe fuel pressure near the filter or on the engine. Possibly but less likely coolant pressure sensor because they tend to be combined temp/pressure senders if you have one. Could also be brake pressure (in a brake line somewhere pre ABS) but maybe I'm the only one that has that on a skyline.
    • Pull codes via the self-diagnosis procedure. As far as I can tell this is just a sign of transmission issues but not a code unto itself.
    • Hi All, putting the engine back together and everything is perfect except have this plug left over.. any ideas what it is for and where it goes? Is on cold side under the intake plenum *note not a stock plug, as everything has been modified Cheers
