Know what the Judge and my Lawyer drilled into me when I lost mine?

DON'T DRIVE WITHOUT A LICENSE.

Seriously, the penalties are huge. I think it's a several thousand dollar fine the first time, and potential jail time. The second time is automatic $4000 fine, and one month jail.

Unless the laws have changed in the last 1 or 2 years you won't get sentenced to jail the 2nd time your caught. You'll most likely get a one month suspended sentence for 3 months or so...

does anyone realise how hard it is for us to not drive? i mean you want to go to work (so you can pay off your bills), gym (so you can rejuvenate/recharge yourself) and want to have a social life too. without a license you are pretty much the same as a disabled person or actually worse because they get someone to take care of them.

Are you retarded? Just because you have no licence you can't do anything? Complaining you can't go to the gym because you can't drive there? Your trying to get fit, ride a f**king push bike to the gym you pansy. Unless you live out in the bush you can get anywhere you need to on a push bike, the local shops, gym and if its too far ride to your nearest train station or take public transport.

Now i'm not having a go at anyone for driving without a licence, we all do stupid things and sometimes have to learn the hard way. I myself have lost my licence, continued to drive regulary and been caught multiple times and have been punished HARD. I haven't had my licence for about three years now, i get it back in 18 days though! Now that i look back on it, it was an extremely stupid thing to do

(driving unlicenced) but I have learnt by mistakes and haven't driven in over two years now.

To all the people complaining about how their life is over because they don't have a licence: ride a bike to work, too far? Get a new job, move house, use public transport! As for your social life, get your friends to come over to your house instead of going there, get a friend to pick you up when going out. There is always another way. To listen to these drongo's complaining they can't do anything because they don't have a licence is pathetic, eat a cup of concrete and harden the f**k up!

i agree with the above post

i got lock up for 2 month for driving unlicensed [got than around 12 time] . and now im on my green Ps for another 3 years. im suppose to be on my full last Nov. but cause of that it got extended for 3 years, =[

without a license you are pretty much the same as a disabled person or actually worse because they get someone to take care of them.

The above is quite possibly the worst thing I have read on SAU....for a while

I never realized that us humans could only use their legs once the car was created :)

Hi All,

Thanks all for commenting on my previous posts. I dont understand the insurance bit quite clearly. ALSO someone said somewhere that you are putting other peoples' lives in danger by driving whilst disqualified. Hows that? I mean what is the gaurantee that a fully licensed driver wont have a crash and kill someone? That argument made ZERO sense.

anyhow I got the summons from the court for driving whilst disqualified. Paid around $2000 to the lawyer for a 5 minutes job. The judge was pretty nice. She accepted my good charecter reference letter from work + the barister was super experienced too.

Only got two extra months and $750. So i was pretty pleased with the outcome. I will get the license back in another few weeks. I havent driven at all since i got caught the second time around. its not worth the drama. court letters lawyers and shit. I would rather concentrate on my work and do other better things.

Hope you all have a good one.

Nihit

When I lost my license last year for a month, I got told by the officer who pulled me over if I was caught driving whilst suspended I'd have to go to court then it would go from there, goodluck.

I can understand why it makes zero sense.

Because if you dont understand that, then you have no hope ;)

    • It was a great, but typical track day, and some VB was ingested at the night time debrief 🤪
    • And so, to round this out, I couldn't be happier to confirm @MBS206 has decided to buy the car. He drove down from sunny QLD with a trailer last week and it is off to its new home today. I'll let Matt confirm on next steps but I understand broadly that the plan is to leave it pretty much as is, and just get some quality wheel time with a nicely balanced car that is pretty much track ready. There are a few a jobs still to be done first but nothing too major and I think its a very smart buy Dinner last night at the Paragon with a round of VBs (mostly) for Neil
    • Well, 50 pages and the end of a chapter for this car. We took it out for a shakedown at Wakie yesterday, and everything went well. There were a couple of niggles: - Oil cooler fitting leak - tightened, cleaned, stopped leaking - Radiator cap overflow fitting was leaking....Mark called it, the overflow fitting was threaded in and not tight....tightened, tested and held pressure - Small oil leak at the rear of the block, probably the turbo oil feed - too hot to get at it comfortably but probably just needs to be nipped up - leak at the driver's side rear brake line where it meets the hardline. Fitting wasn't loose, so Matt backed it off and back on, no further leaks - there's also a leak somewhere on the top of the fuel tank, maybe that cross over fuel line - that was has been left to fix when its on a hoist Otherwise than those niggles the car went great, turned great and stopped great so it was a very successful day out. I'm always really nervous when a car first hits the track after a long break, especially with a brand new engine as well but it was great. VID-20251011-WA0007.mp4  Big thanks to @The Bogan who dropped by and helped out, @MBS206 and my nephew Lachlan the apprentice.  Neil's wife Mel also surprised the hell out of all of us by dropping by; she's up in Tamworth these days but was travelling to Melbourne so had plausible deniability for turning up at the garage, it was great to see her but also obviously a bit sad all round.

    • Unsolicited advice? Keep the engine as close to stock as you can. Nothing wrong with adding some boost and making a little more power, but given where you are, you really don't want to try to make it into a monster. I can't imagine the roads are up to it, and the lack of locla support when it grenades will be a ball ache. FWIW, If there is a dyno around that you can access, then brand new injectors are a good idea, which will lead you to (at least) putting a Nistune in it, which will allow you to put an R35 AFM on it, all of which will make it possible to make it much much nicer to drive and live with.
