So I'm thinking about entering. My question is to those who know my car and my driving abilities.

Would I be anywhere near the pointy end of the clubsprint class to make it worthwhile? Or should I keep the semi's on and just get slaughtered in open class?

I mainly want to go up there just for the fun of racing OP. Not too serious about it although I do enjoy racing on semi's. I suppose I would only do clubsprint class if I was going to be competitive.

If I was going for clubsprint what tyres are most people running? I've never bought good road tyres for my skyline.

thanks.

Edit: I've done 1:39s at Winton and 1:28s on 2nd hand semis if that's any indication. Also I've never even been to OP so it will be a new track for me.

Its purely related to the quality of cars. I am expecting to get slaugtered in Open or Clubsprint... it will make no difference. At least in Open with good tyres i find out what times my car can do.

So if your main motivation is to be competitive then sadly a GTSt wont do the trick in either class. You need an EVO with 30K spent on it or a GTR with 30k spent on it to be competitive in either class

But wont stop me from having bucket loads of loud fun!

purely do it for the fun. unless you want to race your wallet...

at the end of the day you will have a good idea where you stand but there is no chance the likes of us in our own cars will compete with the likes of those who were given drives last year.

avtar change hey troy?? a sign the rb20 is a memory??

Hey Guys and Girls,

Super lap is getting closer i have booked my flight's.

But i don't know where to stay can any one help me, prefer to stay close to oran park.

Around $200 a night.

Thanks.

Not sure if this map will work, but check out where Oran Park is and then maybe search wotif.com.au for accomodation in some of the larger towns near there.

I'm planning to drive up and stop half way on the night before then travel straight home after the event.

Could someone please shed more ligfht on this event? Sorry i'm a noob to all these events and have just completed my application form for SAU-VIc and am awaiting a reply

Is it just an open Track day for SAU members or is it open to the General Public? Do we just do timed laps around the circuit and see what the best times are for each class?

or is it a race type atmosphere with qualifying then a final race at the end of the day?

And just lasty - how far is oran park drive from melvourne?

sorry for hte noob wuestions but my car is pretty much track ready and i would like to find out as much infomration as possible so that i can can compete in as many track days as possible.

Thanks in advance, guys!

If you're coming up and stopping halfway, there's a good place to stay in Tarcutta (which is about halfway). The return trip will take you 8hrs near the speed limit

Thanks mate, I normally stop at Gundagai for the night whenever I head up for this or WSID meets, done it a few times now, the return trip isn't too bad in one stint at night because the roads are quiet.

thanks everyone for the replies and incredibly informative information. After reading all of that-i dont think my car nor i am preparedto race at that sort of level just yet. Have done a couple track days at Calder for both grip and drift and that was going back a few years.

So may have to give superlap amiss this year and go to f1 instead. In saying that tho, i will aim to makeit there next year after doing a f ew more tracks days with the new turbo and suspension setup.

so thanks guys for the info, and to all those doing the superlap - good luck and represent for the Vic click :bunny:

    • Hi...so a "development" here aswell The swap is "done" and car went "test drive" BUT it seems the clutch(maybe gearbox?) is a little bit sad? I bought this clutch kit https://justjap.com/products/xtreme-heavy-duty-organic-clutch-flywheel-kit-nissan-skyline-r31-r32-r33-push-type "Problem" is that the first gear is hard to put into and it seems that the clutch is not disengaged. It was not the problem with the old clutch...(or like sometime the first gear would not get as easy specialy when the fluid was cold) So? Can it be like...bad "install" or is the clutch wrong ((it should not have been) i done research to get the right one) Or is this "normal" with new clutch and needs to be break in?
    • @Duncan I can try  and thanks i did not thought about VIN and part numbers for 33/34. @GTSBoy yeah it looks like iam gonna do that
    • Forgot to include this but this is the mid section of my steering rack that looks like it has a thread/can be turned with that notch mentioned in the post:
    • Hey everyone, Wanted to pick some brains about this issue I'm having with rebuilding my 33 rack (PN is 49001-19U05). All of the tutorials/videos I've seen online are either R34 or S Chassis racks which seem to be pretty straightforward to disassemble but this process doesnt carry over to my rack. Few of the key differences that I've noted The pinion shaft on the other racks bolt on with 3 torx bolts: Whereas my rack bolts on with 2 allen head bolts: These changes are pretty inconsequential but the main difference is how you pull the actual rack out of the housing. The other skyline/s chassis racks can be taken out by tapping the rack out of the body with a socket and it just slides right out. I'm unable to do that with my rack because there's a hard stop at the end that doesn't let the seal/shaft be tapped out. Can also see a difference in the other end of the rack where mine has a notch that looks like you're able to use a big wrench to unthread 2 halves of the rack whereas the other racks are just kinda set in with a punch. My rack: Other racks: TLDR; Wanted to know if anyone has rebuilt this specific model of steering rack for the R33 and if there were any steps to getting it done easier or if I should just give this to a professional to get done. Sorry if this post is a bit messy, first one I've done.
    • I would just put EBC back on the "I would not use their stuff" pile and move on.
