So is Brawn fishing for sponsors or is the pace genuine? It stand to reason that the car will be decent since they had been working on it just about longer then anyone else?!?!

Personally i cant see the car being the world beater its test times are suggesting. LOL if it is i expect to see Honda buy back in by mid season just so it can say that Honda won a WC/WCC , with a Mercedes engine

Well even if they are not running light you would expect them to come out & put their best foot forward as there is no signage on the thing other than a mandatory Bridgestone sticker. Wonder how much coin Bernie kicked in?

Doubtless like everyone else on struggle street they will be hard up to find the cash to continually develop the car. Then there is the whole KERS nonsense to worry about...

i think this season will be the last of a dying breed. with the whole global economic crisis and whatnot, surely teams will cost-cut to a basic standard - meaning same engines and same performance figures. i bet the FIA will tailor it to the punters as a "more spectator friendly sport" but at the end of the day its all about dollars for dollars.

By 2010 formula 1 will be a different sport to what we've ever seen before.

It is already massively different. In just one season.

Ive been a fanatic since end of 2004, i havent missed a single race and check info sites almost everyday.

The reasons i 'fell in love' with Formula One dont exist now. If i had started watching now, i probably would like it at all.

But F1 is all about progression. Soon as things get better they will start to bring more flare back. Maybe in 4 or 5 years time, or possibly sooner when the F1 big guns realise the amount of audience and therefor profit they are loosing by downgrading the technology and sophistication this season.

Its no secret, as a modern F1 fan i hate what they have done.

The cars just remind me of A1 now :P

But i cant stop watching. They hooked me early.

Go Alonso! 3rd Championship is what im hoping for. Someone needs to try and hunt down Schumacher! 7 Titles is just ridiculous.

I cant honestly see what all the fuss is about with regards to looks, we are never going to be back at the early-mid 90s when the cars looked great, but the looks of the car is not even half of it. Its about the noise, the speed the drivers and politics and of course the cars.

I have to say i cant wait for this years. It has the promise to be even more interesting then the past two years where we have been truly spoilt. Fark yesteryear, tomorrow looks just fine

The cars are growing on me...its only really the direct front on shots that make them look ridiculous. I think they'll look fine on track, and on TV for the majority of the coverage.

Side note, the new ex-honda Livery looks a million times better in the above photos than the Earth dreams rubbish.

Barrichello is on Fire!!!!

Brawn GP car topping the time sheets 3 of the last 4 test days... 'Old Man' Rubens is barely more than second off the times set by last years Fezzas and Mercmacs..

I think uncle Ross was a very busy bee during 2008.. Looks like it might well pay off..

lol, for shits and giggles I'm going to put $20 on Rubens winning the WDC...

Well Bernie is farking with the points this late in the game? Not sure what i think of the medal system. First reaction is its is a farce. But.... yeh its a farce, so a guy that clearly scores more points then another car, say 30 points who only wins 6 races vs the 7 of the guy that comes 2nd or 3rd in points doesnt win the champsionship?!?!?!!?

Will have to see how it pans out. Other then last year i cant think of too many recent seasons where the guy that won the most races didnt win the WDC...so :pirate:

LOL can see serious contenders for the WDC cruising in races to ensure reliability for next rounds given engine and gearbox rules etc. If they want the guy in 2nd to have a go then surely they have stuffed the racing for the guys in 3rd and 4th who can only dream of getting a single race win to go with their season of podiums :P

Expect some serious court action this year. If anybody gets stripped of a race win for any kind of dubious reason, shit is really going to hit the fan in 09

I think this year will be the end of my enjoyment of this sport in its current form. I can just see the farcical FIA decisions now. The 'Ferrari International Assistance' jibes are going to go to a whole new level from all corners this year i think.

why?

More then that have you read the silly biz for budgets next year? Any team that wants to operate withing a 33million Euro budget does not have to comply with teh current regs that are good thru 2012. What the fark are the FIA playing at???? Makes no sense. The FIA and Bernie need a long hard look at themselves as they are meddling too much with something that aint brooken . What has been wrong with the past 3 seasons?

The points system has been flawed ever since they moved 2nd position to an 8 points and 3rd, 4th ect ect. Realistically if you were consistent enough and there were many different GP winners, you could actually win a WDC without ever having won a GP...... To me that's bullshit!

Somehow I don't think Honda were the only ones developing for the 09 season early. Way too many aero/dimension changes for any of the teams not to start development very early on. If I recall correctly, M Schumacher had tested 09 spec tyres, front and rear wings in Nov/Dec 07..... on an 06 or 07 chassis.

the good ol days are gone.......long gone

he should have been stripped of his position once that prostitute incident arised.

he's destroying the sport bit by bit, its a joke i can't see many new up and coming drivers wanting to join F1 if it gets any worse, my guess is they'll go into rally or touring car.

And whats the point of having different manufacturers if your going to cap them to a budget, its their money let them spend as much as they want, not like the 10million they save is going to feed the hungry who lost jobs over this financial turmoil

Its becoming ridiculous

    • To expand on this to help understanding... The bigger/longer the block is, the more it's going to work to sit on your far away high areas, and not touch the low stuff in the middle. When you throw the guide coat, and give it a quick go with a big block, guide coat will disappear in the high spots. If those high spots are in the correct position where the panel should be, stop sanding, and fill the low spots. However, using a small block, you "fall off" one of the high spots, and now your sanding the "side of the hill". Your little block would have been great for the stone chips, where you only use a very small amount of filler, so you're sanding and area let's say the size of a 5/10cent piece, with something that is 75*150. For the big panel, go bigger!   And now I'll go back to my "body work sucks, it takes too much patience, and I don't have it" PS, I thought your picture with coloured circles was an ultra sound... That's after my brain thought you were trying to make a dick and balls drawing...
    • Oh I probably didn't speak enough about the small sanding block for blocking large areas.  In the video about 3 minutes in, he talks about creating valleys in the panel. This is the issue with using a small sanding block for a large area, it's way too easy to create the valleys he is talking about. With a large block its much easier to create a nice flat surface.  Hard to explain but in practice you'll notice the difference straight away using the large block.
    • Yep I guessed as much. You'll find life much easier with a large block something like this -  https://wholesalepaint.com.au/products/dura-block-long-hook-loop-sanding-block-100-eva-rubber-af4437 This is a good demo video of something like this in use -    You have turned your small rock chip holes into large low spots. You'll need to fill and block these low spots.  It's always a little hard not seeing it in person, but yes I would go ahead and lay filler over the whole area. Have a good look at the video I linked, it's a very good example of all the things you're doing. They went to bare metal, they are using guide coat, they are doing a skim coat with the filler and blocking it back. If what you're doing doesn't look like what they are doing, that's a big hint for you
    • The odometer does go up when driving.  Does this tell it is an issue with the speedometer itself?    Where can I look for replacement cluster? Or speedo? I can likely do the repair.. Will ER34 cluster work on HR34? Or do I need a HR34 20GT S2 specifically lol
    • Mine's a bit bigger at 70x150mm roughly. The spots are flat, just can feel the edges if I dig my nail into it. I did fix some other other ones by both using my finger to sand that small spot (I'm a bit wary of doing this and creating hot spots and a bigger mess) and I also did sand over it flat and others, but this also worried me a bit because if I create an overall low spot on the panel on paint that is good.  Correct me if I'm wrong but as long as it's flat even if I can feel the edges, I can put filler because it will all be level once I sand it? I can see myself going in a circle after sanding guidecoat with 320 grit if for example the panel is flat with my hand but because I sanded the guidecoat I could have created a low spot again somewhere. Unless where I'm going wrong is what I mentioned previously where I didn't go low enough on the grits. It's 1 step forward and 2 step backwards here haha. I'll probably need to experiment with it more. Last time I go back to bare metal lol.
