TALBO
I've never been a Webber fan for many reasons and I'll stick my neck out this early in the season and say that Vettel will score more WDC points than Webber this year. Roy
I've never been a Webber fan for many reasons and I'll stick my neck out this early in the season and say that Vettel will score more WDC points than Webber this year. Most people see the year going the same way as you. I dont doubt its possible, but i think Webber will be in there confirming his potential and the belief some people have in him. IF Vettel is quicker Webber will lift. Question is if Vettel is quicker can Webber lift enough to go lap for lap with him over a race? I dont think you are really sticking your neck out, i think i am the one sticking my neck out stating that Webber will have his measure this year. Either way it will be great to get a good measure of how good Webber actually is, wanting to know is what is important to me. Doesnt matter if he is justa good driver or one of the top few. LOL, look at Button, a decent car under him and all of a sudden he is looking like a World Champion LOL, Alonso should have jumped ship and chased the money and the best car on the grid Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/250076-2009-f1-season/page/31/#findComment-4538925 Share on other sites

Beer Baron
I'm with you troy. webber is as good as any of these clowns, and I reckon he'll have a few surprises for vets. sure the young fella is quick, but I too reckon webber will have his measure this year. webber has punished some highly fancied team mates, vettel has not really had that challenge yet in F1. Roy
Webs and Vettel close again in practice. Webs just pipping him. So good to see the two drivers going withing hundredths of a second of one another. Hopefully they go aggressive in qualifying and go low fuel, enough for only 6 or 7 laps with the soft tyre. Try and lead off the front, grab the harder tyre which is more consitant and punch out laps in free air and do two longer stints on the harder tyres. You read it here first, thats the only strategy that will see them with any chance of catching a podium. The Brawns got twice as much life out of the soft tyre then the other teams. Roy
Nah, Brawn still have a clear pace advantage, did you see how mnay laps they were able to get out of the soft tyre> And how they were quick over all the laps with no decay in lap times wen on them? The are clearly superior and now that there cars are deemed legal they probably wont be foxing so much Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/250076-2009-f1-season/page/31/#findComment-4540392 Share on other sites
Marco-R34GTT
What would make sense on the soft tyre??? 6-7 laps, real light first stint on the super softs.. Followed by one long or two shorter stints on the medium compound.. Followed by another 5-6 lap sprint on the super softs once again... Seriously, can at least ONE TEAM do something unconventional for once??? I'm thinking Ferrari 3 stopping in Hugary 1998, Ferrari 3 stopping in Brazil 2000, and Schumacher's/Brawn's brilliant 4 stopper in France 2004... I'm thinking Ferrari 3 stopping in Hugary 1998, Ferrari 3 stopping in Brazil 2000, and Schumacher's/Brawn's brilliant 4 stopper in France 2004... Full wets on a dry track is pretty f**king unconventional, and stupid!! Ferrari are plucking ideas out of a hat, gone are the Schumacher/Brawn supremacy days. Soft tyres on a green track is a bad idea, a short first stint puts you back into the pack and then you get slowed down. You are better off running longer on hard tyres then doing a splash 'n' dash on the soft tyres at the end. If you can short fuel and qualify up top and romp away from the pack for about 10-12 laps then maybe, but not many cars can make super softs work that long. I guess even if you do end up behind other cars it's slightly easier to overtake now than previously. Be interesting to see the KERS cars on the long straights. Roy
Depends where you qualify. If you havea quick car and stuck in traffic then you are losing tenths of not seconds each lap. Throw a light fuel load in, soft tyres and have a go at getting on the front two rows and getting a stormer of a start and try to do a bit of a dash. If you pit 7 laps into the race you are going to come out at the tail of the field with no traffic to hold you up meaning you can punch out laps as quick as tyre conservation will allow. IF you come up on a car then they will be back markers so easier to pass, and the cars ahead will be peeling off ahead of you. Then at the end of the race your car will be at its quickest and ready to race while everybody else will be carrying a wounded car on shit tyres. Trust me, i am the supreme son of rajab of strategy Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/250076-2009-f1-season/page/31/#findComment-4540715 Share on other sites
