ok i brought a second hand nismo 2-way diff centre..

so today went to install it and have come into a pickle.i went to put the r200 stock gear around the 2way and the bolts that where on the stock gear do not fit in the 2way they are too big..

why is this?

what are my options now?

only thing i can think of is to buy new gears.

thanks for your help

IIRC, the difference between an R33 and R32 R200 centre, is the R33 has larger diameter bolts... maybe you had a 33 diff in there to start with..

But yes, when you buy the Nismo 2-way kit new it comes with lots of stuff like new crown wheel bolts, new gasket, flanges, oil etc.

its going into a r32 gts-t so s13 diffs are the same r200.....and no the bolts are off my stock r32 not r33. all i have to do is drill the holes bigger now iam worried about the shafts will the stock r200 shatfs fit into the nismo 2-way?

thanks for the comments guys

test them out before drilling anything it'll take 5 minutes an if they dont fit sell the unit an buy one to suit your car or buy the other gear to make the diff fit in your car

no they will not. you need the matching nismo stub axles. thats if its a nismo one,

unless you have an open (non lsd) r200 where you have to swap the stub axels left to right

could be out of a early dr30. as far as im aware all the diffs hr31 onwards used 12mm bolts. exceps the silvias. and when you get a nismo diff it comes with spacers for the bolts. the opposite of your problem.

what was it out of?

i have done a centr swap in my 240/260z long nose r200 housing, the early Z diffs (fuji/subaru as are the later sklines) use M10 crownwheel bolts, i bought a used tomei r32 gtr centre off ebay a 2 way mech lsd.

one thing i found that the diff shop really wasnt keen on doing the swap, but aggreed to give it a look over.

after no response i went there paid 40$ for nothing and did the swap myself.

turns out the 32 gtr/r33 used an M13 bolt (yes M13???? go figure) so what i had to do was machine some bush's spacer @ 13.1 od 10.0 id x 11mm long for the 10 bolts.

as far as side/half shafts i had another circlip groove cut on the drivers side shaft to match the clip in the 32 centre, speced of the gear mesh and lash adj (happened to use the supplied shims that came with the centre and it was spot on lash wise)

from what youre saying it sounds as though you may have either 10mm ?? holes in your new centre yes you could just drill out to suit, but do so carefully.

after my install i was/am able to use the std 32/early 33 shafts (29 splines) they plug/play no problems, but i can still use the old uni joint hafshafts because i had the extra groove cut in.

i have done a pretty visual show of what i had done on vicZcar forum if you are interested

cheers nat0

that was a bit confusing but i get what you mean so yea i will just drill the holes bigger not problem

and with the sharfts i need 2 small ones as the stock ones, the other 1 is longer so i need two short ones then it will fit hopefully...

Nismo diffs do not use "Nismo" stub axles, they use two standard ones (short).

R32 & S13 have the same bolt size (I know as I'm running S13 gears on my R32 Nismo 2-way centre).

My local diff guy was more than happy to set my diff up and I just swapped the housings.

yes, the "nismo shafts" that are supplied when you buy the centre are standard evan though they are differnt lengths????? must be only the new ones that have 30 spline shafts.....

as with all the diffs its just a matter parts swapping till you get it correct.

My Nismo 2-way for 32gtst used two of the short shafts, they were genuine nissan items supplied in the kit.

yeah thats what i need..actuly only one small stock shaft then i can bolt this thing all on.

If you don't know what you're doing then it's best to get a diff place to install the centre into housing and shim accordingly. (don't think you can re-use the pinion bearings but I may be wrong)

i'd be getting a fresh set of bearings put in it if you've pulled it out an had it sitting where they can get shit in them. not worth the trouble of having to do it again as soon as you start driving it

    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
