yeah camber kit was installed as was rear subframe alignment kit .. could the rear subframe kit have something to do with this crappy traction issue ?

Unless i'm thinking of something completely different, the subframe alignment kit could have something to do with it. They can be installed in 3 positions, drift neutral or traction. I've heard from a few people if they've been installed in the drift position it made their cars quite slippery. Might be worth looking into.

Have you considered that during dry spells quite an amount of oil and sh!t gets deposited on the road surface. Then the road gets wet by rain. Oil and water don't mix.

Yes I have and i'm well aware of that. However this is not my first car ever. I drove a heavy 4WD before it as well as various sedans and I've never fishtailed in rain cornering at normal speed.

I'd personally say you may have some low quality tyres and expect too much of the car.

The GTR has Dunlop LeMans tyres, and they handle great in the dry, in the wet its a different story, they're not so good anymore, my suspension alignment and camber kit is done.

My suspension setup does great in dry weather, but been a front-heavy car I have lost the rear in the wet (accidentally of course) before, its very easy to correct though.

Shit tyres.

I had a set of LingLongs at one point, they would spin 4th in the wet and 3rd in the dry and also step out around corners with no throttle (2-way diff doesn't help heh).

My current tyres don't do any of that.

hmm I'll have to try different brand next time then .. but that wont be for another couple of years I reckon. I thought the Maxxis MAZ1's were pretty decent according to some reviews. I think some mag said they were better than some of the top-end tyres that cost like $450 a piece.

Cars been in the shop for a while ..havent had much chance to drive it since upping the tyre pressure. Will see how that goes first.. Thanks all for the suggestions

Check the tyres sticky, they show what tyres users here have used and reviewed....you will find some tyres are excellent in the dry and pretty terrible in the wet.

hey guys can anyone confirm this or tell me how to check which position/setting my rear subframe alignment kit has been set to ??

Look at where the bushes are, neutral they will be in the same spot front and back. Traction they will be installed in such a way that the cradle points up at the front (to give more squat, so bushes will be under the cradle on the front and in between the cradle and chassis on the back). Drift they are installed to point the front of the cradle down (bushes between cradle and chassis on the front, and underneath cradle on the back).

Hope that makes sense ;)

hey man learn to drive or them tyres are just plain shit. get some decent tyres an try that, no point dyin to save 1500 bucks aint no good for you or another driver if you get killed. i've had crap tyres nankangs were no good in the wet got rid of them at bout 1500km an got some falken 452 (375/17's) bout $400 a tyre absolutley awesome in the wet. will only spin in the wet if your really tryin an can still corner fairly hard without lettin go at all an when it does it's usally fairly smooth an thats generally only when you do it on purpose.

    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
    • BTW I measured the jack I have, it is 70mm at the saddle but you only have about 700 until it returns to 150mm high at the cylinder so it is good but no magic bullet.
