Around 6 weeks ago, I made these:

Being home from work sick, after having my tonsils taken out, I have been very bored lately with plenty of thinking and doing time...

So I've decided to get busy with with even more modifications in the stag:

  • Blue LED conversion for ALL dash lights. This included speedo cluster, climate control module, triple dash gauges, cigarette lighter socket and ignition barrel lights.
  • Blue CCFL Tubes that highlight the footwells in the front of the car.
  • Stealthy Hi/Lo boost switch for my Profec B Spec II, using the Wiper De-Icer switch in the dash.
  • Red LEDs mounted in the "eyes" of the skulls on all door trims - Coming Soon.
  • Blue CCFL Tubes in the door pockets of the front doors - Coming Soon.
  • White LED interior lights. - Coming Soon.
  • Re trimming the Gearshift and Handbrake boots with chrome leather - Coming Soon.

Prepares spew bag........

Are you sure you want to do this to your 260 nigel?

Haha! Maybe chrome isn't the way to go then... I'm going shopping for material today, so I will see what I find.

I think many of you will be pleasantly surprised with the overall outcome!

To each their own, I say. People still think it's weird that I installed a Minidisc head deck in my car.

EDIT: The LEDs sound good.

Are you serious????? Minidisc????? i promptly got rid of my minidisc head unit that came with my car, minidisc is the biggest flop of recording technology!

ipod/mp3/hard drive all the way! - no cds, no scratches, so much easier than filing thru a whole case of cd's/minidisc's!

and you know why? because they are crap, its basically the same as cd's

hence why mp3 players and ipods are much more popular, because you dont have to carry around a whole catalogue of cds or mini discs!

i'll admit some of the mini disc recorders were good for a band practice and stuff like that but yeh, i can easily see why the mp3 player took over

True, but the cost of hard disk drives and flash memory was way too high when MD first came out. Solid State Drives are new, expensive technology at the moment, but as the price drops due to economies of scale, they will take over from HDDs, too.

hrmm i dunno, i think most people wold have trouble filling an 80 or 120 GB ipod/hd with music.... i have an 8gb ipod and it does a fine job of holding over 1300 songs, half of which i probably dont listen to lol

mp3 should be outlawed.

Crap compression = HUGE loss in music quality.

I have an 80GB iPod which has 4GB left on it.

Lossless all the way baby! (ideally ripped from Vinyl)

i must say my stagea has the factory MD player, and i have an album on CD, and a mate gave me a MD he has which is the same album, and the difference in sound quality is HUGE. The MD is so crisp and clear compared to CD....just my opinion....and i know alot of people who still have and use MD and all agree it is a good system but as Nick said, it just wasnt marketed here properly....

.flac is a good compression for music files. I have quite a lot of music done in this format and the sound quality is acceptable.

back on topic?

neons are in the car now, and I've hooked them up to the loom behind the ignition barrel illumination, so they turn off once the car is started.

photos coming soon.

I think the red LED's in the skulls MIGHT get on your tits after a while.

its going to take a bit of research to find the right sized led's and the right brightness.

or you could make it like a chaser circuit where only one set of eyes comes on at any given time

or come on randomly?

i've chosen really dim red 3mm leds for that exact reason. :)

have also thought about the chaser circuit :)

    • @Kapr Haha yeah thats the one. I missed that you had a built up engine, I wouldn't want to run it on there either then. It was good in my situation just to replace the original turbo on a stock engine. @MBS206Yep definitely not a replacement for anything name brand
    • You are selling this? I have never bought something from marketplace...i dont know if i trust that enough. And the price is little bit "too" good...

    • It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about. Reliability of everything in a 34 drops MASSIVELY above the 300kw mark. Keeping everything going great at beyond that value will cost ten times the $. Clutches become shit, gearboxes (and engines/bottom ends) become consumable, traction becomes crap. The good news is looking legalish/actually being legal is slighly under the 300kw mark. I would make the assumption you want to ditch the stock plenum too and want to go a front facing unit of some description due to the cross flow. Do the bends on a return flow hurt? Not really. A couple of bends do make a difference but not nearly as much in a forced induction situation. Add 1psi of boost to overcome it. Nobody has ever gone and done a track session monitoring IAT then done a different session on a different intercooler and monitored IAT to see the difference here. All of the benefits here are likely in the "My engine is a forged consumable that I drive once a year because it needs a rebuild every year which takes 9 months of the year to complete" territory. It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about with this car.
    • By "reverse flow", do you mean "return flow"? Being the IC having a return pipe back behind the bumper reo, or similar? If so... I am currently making ~250 rwkW on a Neo at ~17-18 psi. With a return flow. There's nothing to indicate that it is costing me a lot of power at this level, and I would be surprised if I could not push it harder. True, I have not measured pressure drop across it or IAT changes, but the car does not seem upset about it in any way. I won't be bothering to look into it unless it starts giving trouble or doesn't respond to boost increases when I next put it on the dyno. FWIW, it was tuned with the boost controller off, so achieving ~15-16 psi on the wastegate spring alone, and it is noticeably quicker with the boost controller on and yielding a couple of extra pounds. Hence why I think it is doing OK. So, no, I would not arbitrarily say that return flows are restrictive. Yes, they are certainly restrictive if you're aiming for higher power levels. But I also think that the happy place for a street car is <300 rwkW anyway, so I'm not going to be aiming for power levels that would require me to change the inlet pipework. My car looks very stock, even though everything is different. The turbo and inlet pipes all look stock and run in the stock locations, The airbox looks stock (apart from the inlet being opened up). The turbo looks stock, because it's in the stock location, is the stock housings and can't really be seen anyway. It makes enough power to be good to drive, but won't raise eyebrows if I ever f**k up enough for the cops to lift the bonnet.
