This is their site steve http://www.wfi.com.au/wps/wcm/connect/internet/wfi/

My parent's are the ones who signed everything up for me when I was living with them a few years ago and when I got my own place I just transfered all the details of mine over.

Best bet is to call up and speak to someone as you'll get the best result that way.

I rang Wesfarmers and they are not interested unless you have a business going through them plus house insurance They said they will only do it in a package deal. They put me on to OAMPS( which is a company under them) who took all my particulars and car details and came back with a no can do, because of the type of car.

Mine is an R33 GTR and I'm 55.

me and my parents do not have a business with them at all.

my parents have a house and contents with them as well as a couple of cars.

i dont have a house with them but i do have contents and a car with them.

im only 22 and ive had a 2, s13's, an r32, a r33 with a forged 26 init and few other cars with them with all mods listed (most were non-adr approved) and one of my s13's were listed as a track car.

i dont know why they insured me over you though.

Maybe they've tightened up. They left the "can't Insure" message on my phone with a number to ring back. I'll ring back, but can't see the decision changing.

Just rang Wesfarmers again. Andrew Harris is on leave so his mobile went straight to reception. Spoke to the receptionist who checked with her superiors, and the story is, "we do not insure modified vehicles", sorry, but this guy must be pulling your leg. She even read the clauses from their policy guidelines. which included no mods to suspension, engines, wheels and further down the list was no track cars. Oh well consider yourself very lucky to be "in". Looks like I'll stay with Shannons at $850.00.

what a load of shit. ill see if i can find my old insurence forms listing my mods etc.

even had their guy come out to check my 32 over when i made a claim and everything was fine.

have other mates with them listing mods.

if they dont want to insure you thats their loss. must of tightened up or something but ill find out as ill be insuring another car with them soon with mods.

I have read nearly every post in this thread. I got sick of reading about people bragging how old they are and what they drive. So now it's time for me to post.

I'm looking at purchasing an 1999 Autech Stagea 260RS. I'm 32 with a flawless driving record and 60% no claim bonus and I live in a country town with a lock up garage for the car.

I phoned Shannon's yesterday and they wont even give me any insurance. They reckon ya gotta be a member of a car club!? Just cars wanted $1700 with $600 excess. Or down to $1100 with a $1700 excess. Well... I would hate to see hoe much the bloody thing would cost me if I lived in Sydney with a terrible driving record.

Totally with you mate, you would have seen my many rants about Shannons and their blatant inconsistency. Everyone i know has a different story with Shannons.

Take me and Krishy for example,

- same age

- 33 v 34

- same area, basically

- lock up garages

- both dont own a daily driver

- flawless driving histories

Shannons covers him, and they wont cover me.

i think your all missing the point

its based around a PACKAGE so

building insurance

contents insurance

car insurance

once you tick those 3 boxes they may insure you (you MIGHT find)

that's the thing steve, i dont have those 3. in fact, when i signed my new lease with them, i only had 1 of them and that's it. and this is after i cancelled my agreement with them before i moved out and went with someone else to help lauren out till her insurence agreement ran out.

and they were saying they wouldnt consider him because of the car he has as well.

Easy fix, spend $50 and become a member of SAU-SA and then they'll insure ya

    • Nah that is not actually a lot. Just painting my GTR frontend and the little bits to make sideskirts/nismo flare pieces work correctly/fit on the sedan/mount up correctly came to about $7000. Is it a lot? Sure. None of this is economical. Economy would be shelling the car and buying a 2010 Corolla to commute in. The perspective of all of this is different.
    • I have the re003s’ on my 06 XT Forester Turbo and I highly rate them for street wet and dry
    • I don't see any issues here. I've been saying all along this is a big job, the price reflects that.  When the car comes back perfect I'm sure it will feel like money well spent.
    • Remember, take original quote. Double it. Then add a bit more. It's how any project goes.
    • So, I started this repair and got as far as "fixing" the holes with some fibreglass. God all those years working on boats came back quickly. I decided I'd reach out to some rust guys just to see what they would say about it. I came across a guy about 40 mins away and went to see him. He said the windscreen needs to come out, that there might be some more bits around the windscreen and he'd quote them at the time. But his quote was $300 to remove and replace windscreen and $3k for the damage he can see. He said he could respray the roof for $1200 and the bonnet for another $800 (somebody has previously rattle canned it, its horrendous). This is $5300 + any small additional bits. It's a lot, I get that and the name of one of my fave youtube channels 'Not Economically Viable' comes to mind.  I'm not being financially rational, but I've taken him up on the quote. He's opening a new shop in November with more room, so we're waiting for that. I'll leave the currently missing headliner out until then. I'm looking forward to it being fixed and having the paint looking nice again (lots of clear coat issues on the roof too). / flame suit on.
