Surprised there hasnt been an ongoing sticky topic for this, but what fuel do you all use? how would you rate it? what kms do you get? any brands better/worse than others?

i myself use Shell V-Power (98RON) get generally 350kms around town per tank and 500-550 out on the open road. Series 1 RB25DE with no mods bar intake.

might be good to help out newbies in the skyline scene and prevent confusion about what fuel is recommended for RBs.

well theres really only two choices isnt there?

v power or bp ultimate.

i wouldnt let anything else near my car when it can be avoided.

that said, i was outraged to pay $137.9 for ultimate today. in a metro area. what a joke. crude is $45 a barrel for fox sake!

The only way to go is BP Ultimate and E85 on a 10 to 1 mix.

My GTR was tuned for Shell V Power Racing 100 RON and by changing to this mix on the same tune I picked up 10 kw and the car runs cooler. E85 is a good cheap octane booster that really works.

how much per litre? its still 128.5 down here for premium

i personally dont touch shell v power at all.... I find that i get less km's out of it and less power....

Usually use mobil 8000 most of the time, then bp ultimate if mobil is out.... used to use vortex 98 religiously, found no difference in performance, operating temps or milage compared to ultimate or 8000, only difference is around my area its usually more expensive than the rest....

I have used united 98 octane fuel and i find it pretty good, no problems with my car.

shell in my area is by far the cheapest but i get high end pinging when i use it, also had idle issues with it... my car probably isnt tuned right for shell fuel, each car is different so just find whats best for your car. There is no one right answer to this question.

I was using United's boost98 for a long time but have recently changed to BP Ultimate. Roughly about 400km's stop start and short trips, but did Adelaide to Hardwicke Bay on just over 1/4 of a tank! Have been told to stay away from the local Shell, dirty tanks!

Caltex produces all the petrol for shell and bp , mobil produce their own 98 from Melbourne

i find them all pretty much the same,,,,, still i cant stand shell, different colour = not exactly the same, there is still a difference between shell and the rest acording to how my car behaves, even though its derived from the same source....

It's all the same bp has an actual ron rating of 98.6 that's why your car behaves better... And bp also charges the most 14c per litre more than standard fuel compared to 10c a litre more at other joints!

Mass protest!!! And also the guys at bp all have bad customer service!

    • Hello!  i just finished manual swaping my r34 skyline with a r33 rb20de box(RB71C)box  When the car is running it squeaks crazy loud and it was smoking from the gearbox area. The gearbox is fine it was tested. The clutch slave cylinder seems like it doesn't fully releases the clutch. I want to ask if this noise is from the throw out bearing or could it be the clutch assembly or disk att.xFliq87Gzw6kImKBVqDebXkj0fBqymk0JaYeP3_3SlM.mp4
    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
