I thought it was too good to be true to have my car running great for too long. Anyway on boost in 2nd upwards it is missing in the higher revs. It has only started to do it on this tank and it didn't do it last tank which had injector cleaner in it. I've since added a different brand tonight and have noticed a very slight difference. Also, within the first ten minutes of the car turning over in the morning it is hesitant.

I've come to the conclusion my injectors need cleaning, does anybody agree or are there other ideas??? It's an rb20det with an rb25 turbo 10psi boost, no front mount, no exhaust, and the o2 sensor is brand spanking new if it's any consolation.

This problem is sometimes intermittent as well.

If this is the injectors, would it be worth cleaning them or replacing them and any ideas on prices and types of cleaning???

Well thanks for reading my essay!!!!

Jayson

Bit of help peeps, it's no longer intermittent. In high revs it has small misses. I cleaned the afm, pod, checked all connections and vacuum lines. Car is constantly run on optimax and has plugs and oil about 6000klms old. Even if u can throw me a few options, it means i can slowly rule them out.

Much appreciated.

$22 per injector at Kedron Injection Services or something like that. Thats for cleaning and flow testing

You still have stock management right? There may be a chance that you are getting overfueling and carbon is building up on the spark plugs. I managed to foul a whole set in 1 week due to a bad tune....

yeah my car was running rich a little while ago till i replaced the o2 sensor. It could possibly be fouled plugs i guess even though they are only 6000klms old. Skyrine dave, where abouts in kedron are they? Also, are u a uni student? The number plates remind me of r31 at my uni.

yeah at Kedron, Just before JB HiFi there is a tiny car yard that seems to have a few imports... behind them is this place.

Went there on Monday and got the quote to clean some new injectors. I think i can get a better price elsewhere tho.

their name includes the words Kedron Injection Services thats all i can remember

Cheers

Dave

hehe, yeah that's right. It goes well with the 'Q' (non turbo) badging. It used to be na when i first bought it. YEah i know where ur talking about, thanks. That price sounded pretty reasonable but i will have a look around anyway. What turbo do u have?? Ever since i walked past and saw what i thought was a hand controller in the car, i have been wary of it. Looks like it's got a bit of balls.

This afternoon after uni im going down to a mate's import yard and cleaning the spark plugs. This is just a test first. Basically the sparkies (iridiums) have done 6000klms roughly. The o2 sensor was stuffed for that whole time so the car has been running rich. My theory is that the sparkies are fouled, if not, im ripping the injectors out and getting them cleaned. Then if that doesn't fix it well im back to square one. It's getting quite bad now too with a major loss in power.

Didnt the FMIC give something away?? But yeh its not that fast yet.

Turbo is a high flowed R32 unit with steel wheels so i can run more boost. Hopefully i will have a TD06-19c soon :D

yeah i saw the front mount as well but a lot of turbo cars have them....... How much was ur hi flow? I've got an rb25 turbs on mine as mine packed it in less than a month ago and i didn't have much cash lying round.

Im trying to get mine running right then slowly saving for a front mount and full 3" system before summer hits.

the high flow came with the car so no idea of $$ spent.

yeh get a front mount ASAP.. just cruising to uni and back today inlet temps were 39-41degrees... this would be attributed to heatsoak on the temp probe too. But still fullboost in 3rd gear saw 35deg inlet air temps. So not too bad really... on a 27-29 degree day

yeah that's pretty good. Front mount will come eventually, just want the car running right first. Probably get a gtr front mount, one that hasn't been stripped and polished so it isn't noticeable.

Sparkies were cleaned today, still missed, replaced a coil, it did it the first two goes at putting my foot down, then stopped. Was running great till after i turned it back on from going to car lovers. Now it's back. I only gave it one squirt coming back from the car wash so im gonna take it out tonight and give it heaps once it's been driven for a while. My theory is that maybe one of the injectors is leaking and that's why it stops after a couple of boot fulls. At the car wash the car was on accessories for a while and the fuel pump was going. I'll take them out and have a look. any tips for taking injectors out anyone?

give it a boot tonite and you'll be all over the road... mmm liquid horsepower :D

to get the injectors out the plenum has to come off to give access to the fuel rail. Take that off... I *think* your gonna have to pull really hard to get the injectors out too. i will be replacing my injectors soon so might take photos to go with it.

    • haha don't worry I'm sue you've got more fun ahead buying a 30 year old turbo car....but at least you are in the right place to ask
    • some days eh? The keyless entry and interior light on/off with the key will be controlled by the Body Control Module, but I'm not certain where that is or what it looks like (you might get lucky with a search to get a part#, which could be printed on it). I'd start at the A pillar/ Under dash/kick panel on the driver's side
    • It might be hit and miss, but Nissan Genuine Parts and Pitworks are not the same thing, although both are available from Nissan Dealers with Nissan Part Numbers. Nissan Genuine Parts are the OEM stuff, Pitworks are their attempt to get people back from generic parts makers
    • I did end up getting it sorted, as GTSBoy said, there was a corroded connection and wire that needed to be replaced. I ended up taking out the light assembly, giving everything a good clean and re-soldered the old joints, and it came out good.
    • Wow, thanks for your help guys 🙏. I really appreciate it. Thanks @Rezz, if i fail finding any new or used, full or partial set of original Stage carpets i will come back to you for sure 😉 Explenation is right there, i just missed it 🤦‍♂️. Thanks for pointing out. @soviet_merlin in the meantime, I received a reply from nengun, and i quote: "Thanks for your message and interest in Nengun. KG4900 is for the full set of floor mats, while KG4911 is only the Driver's Floor Mat. FR, RH means Front Right Hand Side. All the Full Set options are now discontinued. However, the Driver's Floor Mat options are still available according to the latest information available to us. We do not know what the differences would be, but if you only want the one mat, we can certainly see what we can find out for you". Interesting. It seems they still have some "new old stock" that Duncan mentioned 🤔. I wonder if they can provide any photos......And i also just realized that amayama have G4900 sets. I'm tempted too.
