Hi Anthony, looks like you are in for a great build. It looks like you have everything sorted, the GT3076r with 0.82 rear is generally considered the best street setup on this forum. Dump looks great. I hate to say it and only will as the rest of your setup looks excellent, you are doing yourself a bit of a disservice with that manifold. the laminar flow will be interrupted with the adaptor plate which is pretty weak considering you have gone to the effort of a port and polish. do your setup justice and get a manifold that has a T3 flange (pref not split pulse design). are you running nistune with an R32 ECU? tell us a bit more about the rest of your setup, looks like its going to be awesome.

hi Daniel glad to hear the turbo is going to be good - I didnt want insane power - just a punchier turbo.

As for the manifold I looked all over for a T3 top mount manifold but couldn't get one except for a cheap one off ebay which I didn't want to do. I dont think the flow of air will be disrupted that much will it? The guys welding the T3 smoothed it off inside and tidied it up. Am I really going to disrupt its flow that much? I mean are we talking loss of 100bhp or something?

The rest of the car is basically a 25 rebuild bored out...

wiseco 87mm pistons

rb26 nur spec conrods

calico bearings

arp head bolts

cometic head gasket

arc fmic

mocal 19 row oil cooler

new oil pump

new water pump

hks cambelt kit with tensioners

hks silent power exhaust

r32 gtr clutch

gtr fuel pump

so its got a few toys under the hood.

I'm also thinking about a rebuilt gtr top end for 8000rpm but wanna do this turbo first and see how it goes. At the moment I've got a heap of issues, a scattered timing signal (getting a new grounding kit for the engine). My splitfire coilpacks have packed in. I have to sort out my front suspension. Just a few things to deal with on top of the turbo lol!

SSeater - sorry mate I seem to have hijacked this thread with updates on my own progress... which so far isn't going anywhere :P

I'll post up my updates on another thread and add a link to this site when I finally get a chance to tackle my own! Great pics on your car tho - thanks for sharing!

i could not see this affecting performance soo much,unlightly to have any baring on peak power,just spool and i dont even think it would be that much, work out the firing order and see

On a r33 s2 gtst can u still use the standard intercooler pipe if u put the gt3076R??? Or does it hit the piping hit the top of the turbo?

Can anyway please help me out as I have a return flow blitz cooler n want to put a gt3076R but not sure if it will fit n work well with all the piping etc...

Fits fine mate. I have a 3076r with a return flow cooler. Just need a 90 degree elbow off the turbo and possibly a short pipe to extend the piping to the standard intercooler piping.

outlet is 2.5" on compressor cover and im assuming your intercooler piping is 2.5" aswell so just need a 2.5" 90 degree silicon bend

hey guys thought I'd update...

my car is currently running and pottering to work and back. Its running a base fuel/ign map which was supplied to me by a Martin Battye over here who is an engine management specialist. He really knows his stuff and the car is purring up n down the motorway to work and back although its quite a bit rich but I'd rather that and a few extra pennies on fuel than a borked engine!

I cant boot it yet unfortunately as I still need to get it mapped but I've got the Link G4 ecu in the car so its just a matter of time. Need to install the boost controller and some other little bits like a new fuel pump (walbro255 which I know wont make me huge power but they're a good priced hard working fuel pump so I'm sticking with that for now).

(turbo comes into effect on this one albeit lightly)

sorry about the video quality but it gives you an idea - you can hear the difference in fueling/ign from the first vid to the last. The car is currently idling a touch high - about 1400rpm and I've checked all boost leaks so I can only imagine its still sitting in the warm up table as I have an oil cooler and a nismo thermostat so water and oil temps aren't getting very high. Might have to put a new oem thermostat in tbh not sure.

anyhow my thread on skylineowners.com has tonnes of info and pics and chattering regarding various parts of this swap. I've never done this before so to be able to sit in traffic knowing the car I'm in isn't a mr finance and eventually it'll be a car I mapped myself is quite cool I think and its what makes all this kind of thing worth it ;)

actually a half decent backyard way of applying a bit of load, would work well to adjust things to limp to the tuners! :(

thats exactly what this allowed me to do :) with enough handbrake or just normal brake I could get the car up a few psi in 4th gear. I shouldn't admit this but at one point I looked down and the car was doing 110mph in 4th gear which I shat myself about when the thought that there is the possibility it could jump off the stands so I backed right off lol ;) That said there was little vibration and it seemed to be very stable. Get a good pair of chocks for the front wheels tho!

did a bit of full load tuning like that once on a ghetto turbo honda crx, front brakes didnt like 4th gear power runs much....

hey guys

I know I kinda bombed this thread a little with all of my nonsense (sorry about that) but I just wanted to show that fitting these turbos is WELL worth every effort - it truly is THE turbo for the skyline! I went with top mount in the end and external wastegate (plumbed back to downpipe). also fitted greddy gtr style plenum and a Q45 afm. The vehicle is an entirely different animal. I dropped a ferrari 599 yday through 3rd n 4th and didn't have it fully planted. I've got the car setup with the link G4 ecu which is just a phenomenal piece of kit. Martin Battye who mapped it estimates 450bhp but the way it comes in and throws you in the seat is something you never get tired of. I've had to have it setup with a low boost and high boost button which is configured through my aircon button (redundant cos aircon is removed). Its really driveable on low boost making 1bar but press the button and it hops to 1.4 bar and spools the tub up much faster. It really is insane the difference in the two settings. I've also got launch control configured which arms if your stopped and the clutch is dipped and you floor the pedal... awesome fun (tho dont use it much heh!)

so I can indeed confirm - these turbos are just amazing - if you can do it then it'll make you fall in love with your skyline all over again :)

Great informative install SS#eater! My current build is based off this. Just a quick question, is the rear housing .63 or .82? And what is response like? And where did you find the studs? Im not keen on just using long bolts instead

    • Near 12mths since the last update apologies.  Car is back running and driving.  Have had a few runs at the drag strip also with a bit of success.  Managed to run tje cars PB with a 10.88 @139mph with a 2.0 60ft.  I have a stock 8hp converter and it's definitely too tight for my setup. But it drives on the street phenomenal. So happy to have converted from the sequential. Has made the car enjoyable to drive vs a what felt like a chore with the sequential.  Looking a at few different options for converters waiting for some feedback from SDE if he can do one for me.  Still a few minor things to work out regarding finalising torque reduction, I have it working but needs to refining.     
    • I honestly wouldn’t bother with this. They don’t hold up under any serious strain. Get the Blackline (Chinese fake Quaife) if anything, as it’s reported to perform pretty well. 
    • For future reference, I believe all that Amayama does is act as a middleman between you and Nissan. Go to your local dealership, ask nicely for a parts account (I get 15% off with mine) and you'll get better pricing. Cheers, 
    • Hi guys, I have a 2005 V35 skyline with the vq35de.  It is a drift car and has been stripped, its now running a standalone ECU and a body harness. Dash everything has been changed to a digital dash controlled by ecu.  The vq35de has been great, very reliable but wanting more HP atm the 35de is making 228rwhp. I'd like to be making about 350rwhp. From my research it looks like a vq25det lightly modified could be a good engine to swap in. I understand the CD trans will bolt up right to the vq25det with a 35de sump used.  My only issue is a wiring harness/ecu to control the vq25det, from what i've found the ecu is a lot different to the vq35de so my plugin for the 35de will not work. Is there any potential to use the vq35de wiring harness and modify as necessary to retain the plugin ecu?  Keen to hear what you guys think, or am I best off to chuck on a cheap turbo kit on the 35de and see how long it lasts.   
    • Oh sorry Justin! I was racking my brain trying to remember names, not sure why I associated “Adam” with 7tune! I’m good, been away from Skylines for over a decade, got family and kids now. Just getting back into owning a 32 but it’s a whole different world now… tax is higher and tech is better.
