is $913 delivered from http://www.nengun.com/east-bear/front-spoi...ior-term-bumper

wtf its just a lip. you might as well buy a full Z tune kit from somewhere like JSAI if you had an extra couple of hundred.

bit to much $$$ for just a lip dont you think???

anyone know where else i can get a lip like that without selling one of my organs???

ta

Ash

It's the same as buying any sort of original FRP (fibreglass reinforced plastic) kit

They are expensive, but you get what you pay for

maybe speak to PSIparts and see if they have something similar

my GTT is lowered only about 2cm and I have side skirts and aftermarket rear bar .. wanted the eastbear front lip but am slowly changing my mind as I today scraped the front bar pretty bad coming out of a driveway. If I had a lip (an extra 7-10cm) it would have been smashed to pieces... not practical at all. I might just lower the car another couple of cms or get a different frontbar altogether that sits maybe 2-3cm lower tops

$913 for something thats going to get alot of hits often, unless you jack up the car which will loose the whole look you car has now, looks hot now

i was thinking of buying this lip, but then i knew it would get a beating so rather just chuck that dough into my engine.

hmmm... wonder what my kit is worth these days...

yeah, the lip is something you really have to be wary of. i think i have around 7cm's clearance, maybe 8. It cops a fair beating, but sometimes you just have to plan ahead. Like i know of a few car parks in the city i can get into, some i can't (can't get into melb central), etc...

if i drove in peak hour, or drove a lot in areas i don't know, i might take it off and put it on for track days, etc... looks good but :D

EDIT: hmm, nengun doesn't have the full GTS-R kit and my work computer doesn't have japanese so finding it hard to navigate the east bear site

thats why OEM plastic lip ftw :D

i love my GTR front lip cause its plastic, considering how many times ive scraped it, if it was fibreglass, it would have a million cracks over it.

im happy i paid abit more for a plastic then cheaper for fibreglass.

but $913 for a lip is overrrrrrrrrrrrrrrkill, not worth the $$

speak to powerplayimports, theyre eastbear dealers.

If it's genuine East Bear it's going to be top notch quality but that much for something that's going to cop a fair hiding?

NOT worth it unless you're a cashed up pimp.

Looks pretty sweet though!

yeah, if my front bumper, lower lip was not plastic, it would be in a zillion pieces by now. I have cracked my lower lip but i must say, it's hard up remarkably well considering the battering it's got.

And really, the only reason i cracked the lower lip was because i drove down to the Great Ocean Road after a MAAASIVE storm and there were very sizable branches all over the road, and no matter how much i drove on the wrong side i couldn't avoid them all, so my front lip ate tree branches for a few days. But it didn't shatter, just got a small crack in the middle.

Then the witches hats i ate a few times during a Motorkhana did some more damage but it's very clean cracks, no shattering and i would imagine not a huge task to plastic well and fix again.

just priced up the full GTS-R kit from East Bear - around 260K Yen, which according to import monster is around $6.5K delivered :D:O:( or a touch over $8K with bonnet :O .... i wonder if that makes my car more expensive.... :)

Give Jeff Ash a call at C-Red in W.A, i bought my East Bear front bar from him for a lot cheaper than Powerplay's prices............

you get a R32 East bear item?

i've called both C-Red and Powerplay before re: East Bear stuff... years ago, their prices didn't differ, i guess things have changed.

didn't matter anyway, didn't go through either to get my EB kit :D and had the extreme fortune of buying @ 106 yen ;)

i heard that C-Red arent supplying anymore East Bear stuff due to the market dollar comparison etc.

i so so much really want those side skirts with the lower lips that you got on yours Daniel...

ah yes, the pm... will reply asap

what skirts, rear bar you got at the moment? You got a top secret front bumper yeah? what does the top secret GTR run in terms of skirts/rear bumper?

wouldnt the EB skirts line up to any Rear Bar?

and the real question is what would it be worth selling it for ? Daniel , PM me some figures who knows the price maybe right. i can still remember when you posted when you got that kit, i was in awe at the look of it so nice.

I just dont want to deal with Powerplay

hm eastbear lip dropped in price quite significantly over the last 3-4 months ..only about $700 delivered now ...tempting. Just how sturdy is this "FRP" material ? Is it easy to fix like fibreglass in case it cracks ? Cheers

    • I seem to the be only person that is using a Haltech 2500 on an NA motor, I've installed a Bosch DBW throttle body to the OEM intake manifold and am having problems maintaining AFR even with the wideband o2.  It will run extremely rich at idle and up to redline, but under load it will go extremely lean in the 20s and i'm essentially having to rev it over 4k and feather the clutch to get it up to speed.  I've read a few other threads of about the butterfly, it seems removing the vacuum to it is supposed to have it remain open, i've noticed no difference under 4k with the vacuum line to it plugged.  I'm hoping someone here has had luck using the NA manifold with Haltech, and if they happen to have a tune for it.
    • I don't know any details, but I really wouldn't be surprised if they do it as a LHD only version, at least initially.
    • Thanks for the replies everyone. Definitely a coolant push. Oil catch can is empty and always has been. As the engine is out now I'll be having a good look over things. I do have some detonation on the piston tops from a trigger issue back about 5 years ago. I felt it and shut off then bought a new ecu and changed the trigger. Never been an issue since. It never hurt the power, its made almost 80hp more since that incident but I will pull the bearing caps to take a look. If the bearings are damaged I will do a bottom end refresh. Head is being re conditioned at the moment and the block will be cleaned and checked to ensure it's flat. I'll go with a kameari gasket and see how it ends up. The other thing I'm not super keen on is the cylinder colours. I suspect this is from the inlet manifold. The plan will be to put it back together, retune and then stick a plazmaman billet inlet on it and retune. I'm happy with the power, if it makes a little more, then great, but I would rather just make everything more efficient at this stage.
    • Maybe they'll look to do a bunch of presales to help inject some cash fast for their financial issues...
    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
