i just wanted to no how is good really good

Depends on your budget - ring around and see which tuner fits your needs.

Some are cheaper, some are more expensive - and often price can be reflective of the tune - NOT always however (before people get too crazy).

I've had Dr.Drift tune my car years ago when he first started out, no issue at all.

Racepace now does all my work being i have a RB26 and well, they go hand in hand like many other gtr/rb26 owners

Racepace is generally regarded as the best in Victoria for RBs.... just because that's what they specialise in, especially GTRs. Like Techsport for Evos.

When day in day out, all you're dealing with is RBs - you will have more connections, access to parts, and above all experience than anyone else. Just a pity they are in Bayswater though :D

anyone take there car to chasers? do people think there generally good?

The big advantage is that they are virtually in the middle of the City, 2 mins drive from the CBD. That was the main reason I got my GTR tuned there with bigger turbos, injectors etc. They also have an AWD dyno, and a decent tuner (Paul) of Motec fame. Their prices are also very reasonable. I am quite happy with my tune.

Keep in mind though that they tune everything, so not exactly a Skyline specialist. A lot of skyline parts need to be ordered as they can't possible keep everything for all the cars they tune in stock, so you will spend time waiting around for the parts to arrive. eg., took 3 months to get the parts I need... still waiting on some. And as with most workshops - overestimate how much time they will take to tune your car. At least double the amount of time they tell you.

Basically, comparing Chasers and Racepace... think of it like you're a Japanese Samurai who needs a sword. You can go to downtown Kyoto to King of Swords or whatever its called, and get a serviceable katana. But they also sell butcher's cleavers and cooking knives. If you have the ryo to spend and the time to walk, take a trip into the mountains to the sword guru. He does not want to be widely known, he doesn't have flyers in the middle of town, and he lives in a very remote and dangerous place. His location and knowledge of the magic of the swords he forges - legends, national treasures even, are only passed through the hushed whispers of the faithful. He uses mystical techniques that no-one else knows, and all the swords he makes are the sharpest in the business.

yeah righteo :) , wasn't really necessary to write a full page of mumble jumble about a swordsman but anyway,

if i was in melb, i'd go to Trent @ status tuning, love the work that his done, esp that 1000+hp GTT.

    • I mean it's a bit late to say "This won't have any tangible effect and it is not worth spending more than about three seconds on it, please just enjoy the car" But I said it anyway. Does the pod actually get any airflow in that position behind a bumper like that?
    • Hey guys - apologies for digging this up. Has this website been shutdown or is the outage temporary?
    • So, went shopping at Just Jap for things that might work for the intake  After some trial fitting there I ended up with a 3" x 45° silicone bend, a 3" x 300mm alloy straight, and a humped joiner, some minor trimming will be required to shorten some of the stuff, but nothing that is beyond my "ham fisted" skills The guy at Just Jap was most helpful as we had all sorts of joiners,  bends and stuff out trial fitting  Laying it out above the stuff in there it seems everything will fit nicely, and looking at it, it is probably the way I should have been looking at doing it from the beginning, probably..... In the end it is a front bar off job anyway to remove the original stuff behind the front bar that is taking up the required realestate needed, so maybe a Thursday or Friday job And because I'm a hopeless consumer, I grabbed some new steel wheel nuts, the current ones are a spline drive type with a "security" socket, that somehow someone keeps misplacing, the new ones are a basic black steel 17mm hex socket In other news: I just did my "final" tax return, I am now officially a old retired veteran pensioner, and I'm milking the system for all it's worth,  life is good
    • I hadn't thought about the variable power steering assist. Presumably, it will always be the same level of assist as you get in an S14. The R32/3/4 are either helliishly heavy (at low speeds) if the solenoid is not powered at all, or hellishly too light (at high speed) if it is powered all the time. I presume that it is PWM controlled on those cars. I hadn't thought about the S cars not having variable assist. ugh. What crappy plebby cars they must be!
    • Hmm yeah that is a good point. It looks like it'll just bolt in with no real issue besides maybe the bushings being different. My other concern was that 2 pin plug that I assume is used in some way to control the rack solenoid depending on the speed signal from the ecu. The DMAX rack doesn't even have that plug though so, don't think it'll matter. Might just order the rack and see how it goes. Will update this when I figure something out
