How come noone seems to rate the Greddy EMU as an alternative to the PFC? I know it is still a Piggy Back Computer but I have had one for around 12 months and am really happy with it (Bought it back when PFC's were very scarce and VERY expensive!)and last time I checked which was a while ago they were a little cheaper than a PFC

Is there something I dont know about the EMU??

Had it installed by Jim at CRD and he seems to rate them just as high as a PFC

Sorry for the thread jump

it depends on your aims.... i have a power fc in my street car (300rwkw) and couldn't do without it...

i'm building up a ke70 drift pig with an SR20 and will probably just go with a safc for $$$ sake... the car is getting stripped and should weigh 900kgs give or take so i dont need massive power... 180rwkw (using my old 33 turbo) or so is the same power to weight as around 270rwkw in a full weight 33gtst.

the ke70 will be a rough car though... and if i get real shitty with the lack of timing i might buy a 2nd hand SITC in the future...

just to show an example of how its not always needed...

The money you spend on a SAFC you could get a toshi/doctor drift remap of your std ecu and do so much more with it, its not a pfc, but its way better than a SAFC.

So bang for bucks as a first step is rechip imo.

read this and other threads like it:

This is what i wanted to do. But i would much prefer a Toshi remap with the road tune he does. I was a bit wary of just telling him my mods list and getting a re-map. He was asking for the temps i get over in NZ etc. He even said it would need to be dyno'd and touched up as required anyway. So theres more cost for that option :stupid:

If he flew over however.. :)

I would lean towards a full ecu if possible.

Im in a similar boat. My turbo is on its way out and have eyed up a larger turbo which ill be getting very soon. I bought a BRAND new SAFC Neo for peanuts(mates rates). However im contemplating whether to have it tuned or sell it, put the money aside, save up for a Link G4 and get it tuned once and for all.

Like everyone said tho, if you have a stock turbo you could do with a safc, however, when you do get 200rwkw, i bet you my bottom dollar that you WILL want more, and then you will realise "Doh, iv hit a brick wall". I know its hard, but you will end up saving money in the long run.

Just my 2c.

    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
