Heh, the main "dobber" on that website averages over 16 "dobs" a day. Reckon he just drives around with a note pad and pen looking for the slightest misdemeanor?

Chump probably thinks he deserves a medal or something.

That guy needs a life

I too am interested if this list really exists as my car is also supposedly on the system.

Here is my totally awesome story...

I was driving behind a taxi in the right lane on King st one night. This idiot taxi driver not only drove at 30kph in a 50 zone, but he kept pressing his brakes at every U-turn section (I thought he would eventually make a turn - he didn't);

so at the next set of lights I decided to jump on the left side and overtake him... Up ahead, there was another car double parked in my lane so this meant I had to get in front of this taxi.

I figured he drives slow so I don't have to punt it too hard when the lights go green. After they changed, I take off and this taxi driver (out of the blue) decides to actually put his foot down. I thought, "f**k this, he's not getting in front again" so I plant it, get safely ahead (without going over 60 as it was now a 60 zone), chuck my right indicator on and make the transition into the right lane.

Next thing I know, cops are behind me with their lights on. I pull over and after a bit of a pep talk, I am told that my car is on the "hoon" database for drag-racing and will remain on it for 12 months. I didn't argue as they hadn't given me a fine...

Actually, I just checked my car's plate on that hoon database website and it says that my car has a clean record.

Does this mean that the police record is a separate database from this one?

I highly doubt police records like that are publicly avaliable.

that site has no relation to the police, i wonder if the government has any idea of that site. its bullshit, whats to say i can't put someones plates up that i know for a stir. same as the hoon hotline. this is going too far these days....

I will upset a few of my colleagues but there is NO "Hoon" list or Black flagging number plates. What we can do is a Field Contact on a Car and that would register everytime the car is checked. If someone could be bothered doing that as it takes about 15 minutes of paperwork then your car would be linked to the behaviour you were doing at the time you were intercepted. This is mainly done for crooks hanging around certain area's, people somking marijuana in their car etc.

I don't know wnyone that has done one for driving matters but I guess it could be done if ongoing "hoon" behaviours at certain location/times and you are checked there.

Hope this helps.

Could you confirm what the police do with photos they take of your car? Is it evidence to support claims of parts being on a car when they issue a defect notice and fine?

PS. this doesn't relate to me.

I've been in cars when they've been defected and they've had photos taken of various parts on their car. I wasn't fined or defected, but photos were taken of my engine bay going back along time ago by a police officer. I always wondered what exactly they planned to use them for.

However once you hand over that bit of plastic and they bring up your record... they can see the history on that can't they Graeme?

I recall an officer making a point of saying to me that he knows i'd been pulled over twice already that week (which i had been)... maybe he was guessing? :D

Our records show when your vehicle was checked and by whom. It doesn't say as to the reason for it being checked. Once we check your D/L it will show driving history for example charges, fines demerit points etc doesn't go into much detail though just the basic fine/charge not the circumstances or anything like that.

Hope that helps

cars not registered under a licensed driver. its my mom :D so either way .. i can just change plates

This is Australia, we follow most of the English(British) rules of the language, and therefore, we would say "Mum" not MOM

That site is hilarious.

"Learner driver failed to give way to a bus pulling out from a bus stop..."

Uh well they are a Learner for a reason.

No doubt!

  1. Uralla9 (10907 star-gold.gif)
  2. Taxman (3480 star-silver.gif)

I take it that number is how many "offenses" they have dobbed people in for... The Uralla9 bloke really needs to get a life, he's wayyy ahead of no. 2.

You reckon if i was....

Speeding excessively in my defective or dangerous vehicle with my fog lights on while there was no fog or rain at the same time continuing to talk on my mobile phone when tailgating another driver whilst not indicating when changing lanes incorrectly throughout which time i was driving erratically just before i parked illegally in front of 'Uralla9'......

he would have a heart attack and die?

    • If they can dyno them, get them dyno'd, make sure they're not leaking, and if they look okay on the dyno and are performing relatively well, put them in the car.   If they're leaking oil etc, and you feel so inclined, open them up yourself and see what you can do to fix it. The main thing you're trying to do is replace the parts that perish, like seals. You're not attempting to change the valving. You might even be able to find somewhere that has the Tein parts/rebuild kit if you dig hard.
    • Can you also make sure the invoices on the box (And none exist in the boxes) are below our import duty limits... I jest, there's nothing I need to actually purchase and order in. (Unless you can find me a rear diff carrier, brand new, for stupidly cheap, that is for a Toyota Landcruiser, HZJ105R GXL, 2000 year model...)
    • Murphy strikes again! Nothing at all would have gone wrong if you had the tool kit in the car! You'd have just found the clamp loose the next time you went to touch it...
    • I have been being VERY quiet about what you're alluding to, as it is something that ticks me off... The number of cars from factory that run coil overs is HUGE! Most of them these days do... The other part that annoys me, is people saying "Well all the incabin adjustable suspension is illegal by blah blah blah"... If that's the case, then why can I buy a car brand new that can do it if, FULL STOP in cabin adjustable suspension is illegal...   Also, I could just chuck some aftermarket shocks in my car, throw the stock springs on, after my blue slip, dump my super low springs back in. Same shock and spring style setup... Hell, they could also be the same colour springs etc.     I'm voting, BlueSlipper didn't want to touch the above car for some reason. Whether it be some sort of bias against the car, the owner, them maybe having previously done dodgy shit and now they're being super careful in case they get slapped in the face by the Gumbyment again... Find a new blueslip place.   And can confirm as you had said, yes there are holy bibles of vehicle heights, and all sorts of other suspension stuff. Heck your run of the mill mechanic, and tyre shop has access to all of that stuff. It's how they do wheel alignments...
    • Funny story Heading to Sydney this morning on the HWY there was some slow traffic, so I gave it the beans and midway through my overtaking "power run" I lost all power It seems that I missed a hose clamp,  and the MAF and filter went WiFi To make this more problematic, the little tool kit that lives in the boot, is sitting in the sun room at Goulburn......LOL Luckily for me I found a bit of steel on the side of the road that could be used like a rusty and bent flat head screw driver to tighten it up enough that it got me into Sydney, it is now all tight like a tiger with the aid of a 8mm socket Note to self: Use my brain and double check stuff, and always keep that little tool kit in the car for when I have a brain fart
